My dear Randy I have been a huge fan of Klipsch powered speakers. My latest version was the Klipsch the Fives.
I was very interested in the new iteration of the The Sevens. But at an asking price of 1295 dollars, I was very reluctant to make that my next speaker setup. So I went a different route. I bought the Marantz nr1200 receiver and I hooked up the Klipsch rb-81 Mark 2. Wow. Holy cow! These speakers are just wonderful and I got into the system for less than $1,000. The rb-81 speakers are huge and fill the room with wonderous joy of big wall of sound And of course the advantage of a receiver is that I can hook up different speakers at different times which of course you cannot do with powered speakers. Love your show. Jim

I’ve been using the Klipsch The Sixes since 2019 for my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turn table and love them! The phono preamp in the 6s was not very good but I’ve got an external preamp for the turntable and that made a huge difference in sound.
As a whole, I absolutely adore the sound that comes out of the Sixes. The sound is rich, deep and clean with no buzziness.
For as enjoyable as they are, I am considering upgrading them to the Sevens or Nines towards the end of 2025 and this review was very helpful.

      Hey bud,
I’ve had them for about 3 months. It might be me but I think I just recently hit break in on them since they sound better (they sounded great before but something changed, perhaps it’s all in my mind) and I had to change my EQ thru my laptop’s on board sound app.
Anyways I digress. I was contemplating getting this exact model of Fluance Turntable or possibly the RT85 just for the acrylic platter but from my understanding you can add the acrylic platter to the RT83 as a separate purchase.
Do you need the pre-amp though is really my question? If so I looked it up and another question I have is what output do you utilize. I see the Ifi Zen has a 4.4mm Balanced output “designed for connecting to powered speakers…” or do you use the RCA outs?
I’m on the fence and completely new to vinyl.

    • @stewpeanut

@@stewpeanut - I assume they used the same phono preamp for the Sevens as the Fives which I own. It is "good". But adding the IFi Zen phono preamp was definitely an upgrade that I could hear the difference. Much better bass and presence for my Technics 120LX-USB TT.

Well done on the video surprised you didn't talk about the insane bass output, having the nines I agree, I like the extra horsepower and the bass is extraordinary and sound HUGE, no complaints with either I'm sure, but those nines can do big rooms and big sound easy. Tonally speaking from top to bottom their top notch, a perfect speaker, as long as the amp stays alive and you can get replacements.

For the turntable, I will use Project Debut Pro with a project phono box S2. Do you have a recommendation here, I've seen you've reviewed both the sevens and the nines, my living room is about 20 sq meters. And I will sit about 3-3,5 meters away from the speakers. I also want to add, the nines are 570 dollars more in my country, than the sevens.

I have been looking for a system for a while. Had a nice Yamaha stack a long time ago, but time went by and little by little tech changed, and the yamaha gear finally started to glitch. ( close to 30 years is nothing to complain about).. I have been stuck in the soundbar rut for a bit, which seems to do okay for TV and movies, but sucks for music. And now there are streamers, Dacs, and bears, oh my!!!
So I just wanted a big sound like my old Cerwins used to have, but I did not want to go down the rabbit hole.. I mean, it was tempting, but really, I just want to listen to music! So I just pulled the trigger on the 9's ( On sale for $1299) and a Wiim Pro. Next is the turntable.. I appreciate the reviews and knowledge. Cheap Audioman! You were very influential in my purchasing decisions! Keep up the good work!
And as for the guy not being the Cheap Audioman anymore.??.. I paid as much if not a little more for that Yamaha stack back in 1992 without speakers as I did for the 9's and the Wiim pro.
My guess is that many folks looking for audio reviews are really looking for a little better than run of the mill soundbars and tiny desktop speakers.. And that stuff only gets so cheap without sounding er, well... Cheap! So you have to pay a bit to play but I still think this guy is on the money with his name! Cheers!

I already have systems in my living room, office, and bedroom, but the nines have me weighing the benefits of having a bathroom system. I do think the nines being only 15% more than the sevens isn't going to do the sevens any favors. If you can afford $1300, $1500 probably doesn't feel like that much of a stretch. That said, given Klipsch's inflated MSRP / aggressive promo sale pricing model, paying MSRP for most Klipsch products is just flushing money down the toilet.

Glad you finally got both the 7's & 9's in to check out Randy. Thanks for the reviews. I was making an assumption you could have them on a network for streaming, but found out that doesn't seem to be the case. From a fidelity standpoint (with the 7 or 9) any chance you (or any of your channel viewers) could compare a bluetooth source to say the Wiim Pro streamer? Curious if your ears can hear a difference (and if the different outputs on the Wiim make a sound difference). (That's a lot to ask). My rationale is for that for Klipsch to offer these powered speakers as the most streamlined answer for hi fidelity (and we put on our snob hat to say BT is not as good as a Spotify Premium or improved digital source), you either still need a streaming device or FLAC files on a USB. I think these would be a brilliant choice for a bedroom and for some family relatives that cannot handle the complexities of separates, but want improved audio fidelity in their homes.

I do not have the WiiM Pro but I got the WiiM Mini based off Klipsch’s and Randy’s recommendations.
I utilize the Digital Optical out connected to the Sevens. I stream via Tidal Connect using my iPhone to control music selection.
A/B testing without using the 10-band EQ available on the WiiM (I have the Digital Out Bit Rate set to max which is 96k Hz - 24 bit via the WiiM IOS App) I can very easily distinguish the sound quality between Bluetooth and WiiM Mini. The clarity is just superb.
Throw in the 10-band EQ adjusted to ones own liking and it really comes alive.
I’m sure if I still used Spotify Premium I would probably be able to tell a difference mostly thanks to the EQ but the sample rate is noticeably lower not even close to CD-Quality. Compression would be noticeable I feel with a loss of soundstage.
Perhaps I’m wrong. To Each their own.
I do thoroughly recommend WiiM products just due to the simple plug & play experience of the Mini and the added benefits I believe it has given me.
Mind you when I’m not doing work and just jamming out, my primary listening choice is thru my laptop.

@@FlyOnAlbatross Wow, thank you very much for taking the time to share your info! Very informative, detailed and helpful. It does seem that pairing a CAM approved streamer with these Klipsch would be a perfect match for folks who don't have another source to utilize (vinyl or CD's), but want to notch up from just doing the Bluetooth to a speaker thing. I wouldn't get the Klipsch to replace my current 2 channel, but they'd be in the running for an easy setup in another room of the house (with reduced fuss). I'm seriously considering a Wiim streamer when my Chrome Audio puck gives out (the darn thing keeps going - lol), and your recommendation is duly noted and appreciated.

I’ve had the Sevens for going on 3 months now.
I have placed my hand on the back of the Primary Speaker. It never feels hot and at most it gets warm but my room is well cooled.
Living in South Texas I keep my AC set at 70 at night and 72 during the day 24/7 for about 300 estimated days out of the year.
I also have an oscillating fan near by that surely helps.
When the speakers are running (my listening sessions last 3-4 hours typically) they move plenty of air. You can feel plenty of air move out the rear port even at quarter volume.
I believe the cabinet design is an improvement over the Fives. I owned the Fives and I admit the back plate of the primary speaker did indeed get hot to the touch not burning hot but uncomfortable.
