- Finally!!! The one ton swap video series is complete, and its time to test them out on the trails to make sure everything is good to go.
I will still be doing a video on final cost, and overall recommendations on the swap, however i wanted to hit some trails to make sure the axles are good to go without needing additional upgrades.
I drove down to Uwharrie National forest located in Troy NC, about a 5 hour drive, just to hit a few trails and return home the next day. Uwharrie is a fun park, it is not too technical and offers trails for every skill level however the hardest trails are somewhat easy for 37s and bigger.
For those who are new, the Jeep recently got swapped with a Dana 60 front and a 14 bolt rear axle. I have a full video series on the swap, pretty much step by step.
So far, the axles seem to work really well! I will be building long arms for it soon, of course with a video on how i am doing it.
Like always, thanks for watching! I hope everyone had a good memorial day weekend.
For those who are interested. I have a JK Gear and Gadgets amazon store, loaded with products i recommend. Its been a while since ive updated it with new parts and other items i am using, however feel free to check it out and get some Jeep mod ideas!
www.amazon.com...
I’d like to hear what you guys would like to see in the future of the channel! I want to make videos you guys want to watch, so please let me know in the comments!
Looking forward to the long arm videos.
How about a Diesel swap Jeep. Maybe something that red, three cylinders, close by like possibly a used generator or something from... I dunno maybe a boat. Wonder where you could get that
Clark RambosaurusRex Hahahaha oh gosh. I’d be changing it out every month 😂
Just watched all the one ton swap videos, took a few hours lol but this definitely got me back in gear to hurry up and put my one tons in. Had to Stop watching half way through to go get my axles out of the garage and set up on the stands lol
I would really love watching just one thing. It would be what every RUclips junkie wants to see, and advertisers would pay huge for space on this particular video. In fact, all your family and friends would truly see the quality in this video, and possibly even agree that you reached your pinnacle as a videographer with this video. I’ll tell you later... peace
I'd love to see a 5.7L Hemi swap to go along with those 1 ton axles!!
212caboose anything but a hemi 🤮
@@billhulkins5213 to each their own- the swap kit is cheaper ($4.7k), and if the jeep is a Rubicon, you can keep the t-case. LS swaps while awesome, are minimum $6k for a kit (all the way up to $10K+ for just the swap kit), and you'd have to swap the 241OR for the standard NV241. I had a first gen Hemi, and while it was a gas hog, I never had any issues with it- just kept up with maintenance. Just one suggestion/opinion. There's many ways to skin a cat.
Only half way through, but this is awesome man! Glad to see it's working out so far. This proves to people that you DO NOT need a top of the line shop with all the niceties and Currie rock jocks. Thanks dude.
Exactly!!! 🤘
I like those Crocs in 4L, haha. Nice wheeling.
Always good videos. And your "Everyman" approach to mods is great. And your shake out climb was great. Especially since YOU did the axle swap. So extra feelings of satisfaction.
Well it's about time!... That's what I'm talking about!... Thumbs up!
I loved the 1 ton videos, granted I was sick and stuck in a hotel room, but I loved it. It did remind me I don’t want do it on the vehicle on jack stands.
Worked out really well. Good job Ben. I was excited to see the finished product after watching all the build videos!
Thank you for watching! Still more to come, and I’m exited to really put them to the test on some hardcore trails
@@JKGearandGadgets super excited. You should post when you come to PA again I would wheel with you up here!
Man your channel has grown to be my favorite Jeep channel on youtube. It's awesome seeing some wheeling! I would love to see a video of tips on wheeling with a manual transmission. I feel like you'd be able to share some pretty good tips and how to's
Looks like your hard work paid off!!
Ben, love the Jeep man! Glad to see you got her all buttoned up and stretching her legs. Definitely gonna be a game changer when ya get the long arms on! Jeep on man🤘
I’m glad to have it back on the trails! Thanks for watching 🤘
@@JKGearandGadgets thank you for bringing us some the best Jeep porn and info on this planet🤘. Looking forward to the next video
I actually enjoyed this video. Glad to see the axles hold up! That hydraulic fitting oh my. Glad it was an overall successful trip!
Yeah that could have been a quick trip ending.
Hey it’s Philip with the back ford ranger it was awesome to talk to the man behind the madness keep up the content
It was nice meeting you! Hope you had a fun weekend and hope to see you on the trails someday!
Awesome video. I was there Saturday myself. Beautiful view at the top of Daniel.
It’s a great place to stop and just take a look at how beautiful the land is! I never get tired of it
This climb was jaw dropping!Tooooninggg in for your next video!
Loved the build videos and had been anticipating the test video. Was excited to see that it was finally posted! 👍 How about more off roading/camping videos?
Great series mang, it was really well done and you've got a new sub.
I'm going to move up from a TJ to a JKU soon, and hope to have a rig as capable as yours some day.
Nice hat Josh! Bison Union and Bert Kuntz are awesome.
More wheeling videos on the channel bro! You really got me thinking about axles and 40's now that I dont have to fit the Jeep in the garage anymore.
absolutely awesome video!
Thank you!
This channel definitely needs an update... JK Gear, Gadgets, and Pilates... said no one ever. Since you started with the axles, maybe work your way to the front and do something with the tcase and then trans and engine? Definitely need a plan for that though and not going to be a cheap upgrade, so on the other hand, good time to hit Barnes and do the link work 🤔 and follow that up with shock updates for the suspension changes.
In the meantime, a JK G&G east coast wheeling tour would be cool. Time to get out there and use those axles. Thanks for sharing as always!
Great video. Can't wait to see what you do for long arms.
Sup ben, ive been watching your videos from the beginning and you are awesome. I'm also new to the jeep scene and wanted to ask you if you can do a video on how and when to use your front and rear lockers. I think it will help us new guys getting into rockcrawling and trailblazing.
Also the benefits of using both lockers at the same time or when to use just the front or rear when in different scenarios.
First video of yours I've watched; I like it a lot. New subscriber! Please don't let your channel become a commercial.
Dood, the BEEF of those axles, awesome!
You got a monster there brother. Forget about the eighth cylinder swap unless you plan on doing zero to sixty in three seconds. That engine has proven successful. Unless of course someone gives you a hemi or LS for free.
Very excited for the rear hydraulic bump stops! I’m wanting to do the same to my rig but want to see how your going to do it.
The nice thing about Arizona lots of places to wheel.
I can’t wait to move, it sucks having to drive over 5 hours to go wheel somewhere
@@JKGearandGadgets only down side its so hot during the summer here.
Your jeep turned out very nice.
Oh, not moving to AZ, but moving in the next year or 2, not sure where yet
your camera footage is significantly better! awesome vid man! are you regretting the auto-locker in the rear?
I’m 50/50 on the locker. I’ll be talking about it in a video soon
Can you believe I took my Tacoma up the front and back side of Daniel hehehee. Man i love that place
Most casual random 🐕 dog came to say hi lol and leave causally aswell
I just bought a set of axles with ARBs from a guy who wheels with you. Hopefully next time you’re out at Uwharrie I can meet up with you.
The red rock lights make it look like you're wheeling through lava
Looks like the tons held up nicely...
Awesome video! Would love to make it out there someday.
I hate mud also haha. Everytime you get under the vehicle is going to fall in your face 😁 axles looking good 🤘
I sub because this is Uwharrie off road Nc plus i love off roading :) .....ive been going here for the last 3 years. Hope to see you on the trails bro. Im in the 2011 prerunner 4x4 Tacoma V8 :)
DraculaS2k maan you should add me or somthing we could go together one day! 3.4 swapped building for trails now 😂😂
Hells yea brother!! My name is Chris Faircloth on Fb.. Gonna Sub to your channel. Im gonna start a "wheelin in every state series soon" And i definitely need to test and tune my new setup!! I live in Fayetteville Nc
@@draculaS2k subbing indefinably! im in kannapolis not to far away, iv got a 84 pickup that i want to fix up to go wheeling. but my 93 3.4 is my main rig at the moment
Gotcha. Just hit me up when u do mans
Bison Union FTW
JK Land Is outstanding.. I'm very pleased with the work they've done for me.. I highly recommend them..
I think your on the wrong channel lol
definitely better than the axle swap videos lol keep posting more like this!
Haha someone had to do it! But yes I’m glad it’s over
Crocks in 4lo hahhahaha
I live near there! Heading up in a few weeks
I sorry i made judgement on you on first video i watched of u . i thought this guy must be a pre maddona . street princess lol. But after watching some of your vids . its very informative. N i learn alot from them. Your doing great job . keep the vids coming . you are a crazy dude though drive 5 hrs to test .lol. that means you did great on your 1ton build. Props to u man .
I appreciate it man. It happens all the time with people, and it’s fair, todays social media is full of street princesses. My goal is to change that and show people that they can start expanding their knowledge and tackle projects at home!
@@JKGearandGadgets i love how you did the junk yard 1ton cause not everyone can spend thousands one front n rear axles . people have budget . im not a jeeper but i do run 1tons on my runnner n i can appreciate what you do . great job.
Sooooo I’ve been pronouncing uwharrie wrong for a while 😂😂
Amazing video and quality is great !!
You hairy??? 😂😂
JK Gear and Gadgets you-wary 😂
35s and lockers for Daniel? I used to do that trail in a TJ with 33s and open diffs. There isn’t a trail in Uwharrie that requires anything larger than 33s nor lockers. Some lines, like the picture route at Kodak, yes but the entire trail system can be done on 33s and open diffs.
I thought you only did stuff to your Jeep and never actually went off-roading. Cool video.
Haha what? 🤦🏻♂️
Awesome
Hi this is RedRex1 awesome video nice work on your jk more wheelin at rauschcreek Offroad park
Anyone else see the 60 series landcruiser in the background?
This place is 30 min from me .. I was probably at the park also ..lol
@1:44 “I should’ve shaved my ears for this” 😂wtf
I’d like to see you build my bone stock 2 door jk to a nasty machine! Don’t need a mall crawler just a well build daily driver and weekend toy!
You have WAY too much air in your tires man. You wanna be around 8psi
Haha it’s not my first rodeo. I was only on the trails for a few hours before driving back home. Honestly kinda wanted to see how they did without being aired down too low, set them around 14psi and went with it.
Hey Ben, I made that on 33s and rear locker last year if you recall. LOL
Oh I remember 😎
Love it lol
what psi were you running in this vid? they dont look like they were flexing very much.
Yeah, came here to say they same thing. Neither of those jkus aired down nearly enough, probably still over 20 psi.
All those wheel hops could have been avoided if they just aired down. I do not understand people who run 20 to 30 psi on the trail.
7:20 definitely couldn't do that with stock axles. I was just waiting for one to pop. Then I remembered your not stock.
I would be affraid to flip the jeep on those trails
Sweet video. How much did the tons come out to be?
Hey, I think I know that dog! lmao!
Haha really?
@@JKGearandGadgets Yeah I'm pretty sure that's my friend Phillip's dog. I think we were the group behind you in a built MJ, two XJs and my TJ on tons.
What brand of fender flares have you switched to since the DIY tube style you had previously?
They are MCE narrow version. Love them!
Love the camera man being salty.😂
Nice shake down. What PSI were your tires at? Didn’t even look like you aired down really.
I only dropped down to around 15 since I didn’t wheel too much. I usually go to 8, and should have
JK Gear and Gadgets Got ya. Was just curious if it was tires or what. Thanks for reply.
Is this in uwarrie national forest?? I’d love to be in a group with you guys :D
What do you set your hikeit at when you wheel ?
Off, or eco 1
Hey ben could tell us whats the benefit of having a bigger axle and what is the drawbacks ?
What Camera do you use when filming ?
This might be a stupid question but why does your Jeep have an Alaska license plate on it when you're not in Alaska?
I’m an AK resident (military)
👍
Can we get more videos of Josh's jeep?
Absolutely not, no way
What wheels are you using and where can i get them from, I have same axle on my jeep yj dana 60 front and 14 bolts rear with detriod lockers , I’m looking for a set of double bead lock wheels or inner lock wheels, I will want them delivered to uk/england,, I’ll appreciate your help
I am watching a blue crab video, watching them swim. The legs r the key to keeping this from happening in future every hydraulic or ac or u name it connection it will move w/ the machine & more importantly allow flexible tight fit flexible connection setup, work around. The joint of the back leg of the blue crab is the free key fix here, it's 1 prt a leg yet it double swivels joint tubing or leg & it can work w/round joint or like the crab a flatter paddle/flipper still oval flat type joint. Is is GODly divine perfection we just hve to copy it w/r tubing connection fittings. It's not just about u & your jeep It's about Every Piece Of Power Hydraulic Equipment We Can Build. Machinery under load under stress, under vibration, adding on to setups or working w/& around set ups. It blue Crab double spins & can work as a tube or if it gets flattened out or needs to b more oval shaped. GET IT This Time.
How did I get to answer? being lead by GOD. started out w/ pretzel & got to blue crab in less than 5mins had the answer.
kissed by GOD if u will pass it on.
Ben I would love to wheel with ya bud.
what front bumper is that ?
The 7slotcustoms frame chop 🤘
What setting do you use for your hike it while wheeling?
Eco 1 or off.
what type of tires are you running ?
Ok question: for a guy that seems to know his stuff and be mechanically inclined, how can you stand having your most expensive vehicle you're putting money into have a god awful mini van engine in it!? I test drove one yesterday and I just can't give up my tj... The jk is just so cheap feeling
It’s works for me, does 80 on the highway, eventually the engine will be gone and a few more cylinders will be added 😄😄
minute 7:35 you got a line dragging on the floor
sorry, kept watching and you adress the issue
Do you have the jeep registered in Alaska?
Is your Jeep manual or automatic
Manual
JK Gear and Gadgets thx my is manual
Question any good tips for us new wrangler owners when off-roading manual transmission thanks maybe a video ?? 🤙
I’ve gotten that request a lot! I will make a video this summer!
Thank you! I enjoy when my subscribers have video ideas and tell me what they want to see.
How does the jeep do on the highway ?
How it feels in the highway? For those 5 hrs ? What was highest speed you can handle ?
I will be talking about this in a video 🤘. With the 3.8 and these axles I don’t like going above 80. 75 is the fastest I liked going (for the engines sake)
I smell a hemi swap 🙈👌🏻 I’m doing axels, suspensión and hemi at the same time but little by little I’m getting all the parts so I can put hands on good videos cudos
I would never let one of my dogs just roam a trail off leash.
Yeah it could have been very bad if we weren’t stopped and outside our jeeps
What wheels does the black wrangler have?
Atx Slabs, they are discontinued now
Drop the tire psi
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Coilovers quick
what size tires are those?
40s 🤘
What's up with that tire pressure...
Drove 5 hours to wheel for a few hours and then drive back home 5 hours, didn’t air down as low as I normally do
@@JKGearandGadgets Gotcha. Maybe I missed it, but did you do a video on the steering? I'm in the beginning of my swap. Just looking for an easy option.
Lj Saldana yep! Go to my channel and look for the playlist tab, under 1 ton swap videos you’ll see all of them in order, and I have 2 steering vids, high steer kit and diy steering
@@JKGearandGadgets Thanks! I will check those out.
It'd be pretty dope if you had a second camera man... **cough cough** Let a ninja know next time.
Your closer to Rausch creek! Better footage up there too. It’ll happen 🤘
HEMI swap!
Everything is easier on 40s!
Dont look aired down
About 14 psi, but even with these tires at 8 psi you wouldn’t guess it
@@JKGearandGadgets yeah looked like they just were not biting.
Yeah I should have aired down more, but since I was only there for a few hours of wheeling I decided to just drop down to 14ish
