  • Is it better to Lift weights before you sprint or after
Whether it's better to lift weights before or after sprinting depends on your fitness goals and overall training program. Here are some considerations for both approaches:
    1. Lifting weights before sprinting
-Strength FocusIf your primary goal is to build strength and power, lifting weights before sprinting can help you maximize your performance in the weightlifting session when your muscles are fresh.
    -Technique
Lifting weights with proper technique may be easier when you are not fatigued from sprinting.
    -Energy Levels
Some people find that they have more energy and focus for weightlifting at the beginning of their workout.
    2. Lifting weights after sprinting:
    - Fatigue: Sprinting first can pre-fatigue your muscles, which can potentially lead to greater strength and power gains during the weightlifting session.
    - Endurance Focus: If your primary goal is to improve endurance and conditioning, sprinting first can help you prioritize this aspect of your training.
    - Injury Risk: Sprinting with fatigued muscles from weightlifting could increase the risk of injury, so doing it the other way around may reduce this risk.
In general, if you are focusing on building strength and power, lifting weights before sprinting may be more beneficial. On the other hand, if you are prioritizing endurance and conditioning, sprinting before lifting weights could be more suitable.
It's important to listen to your body, monitor your performance and recovery, and adjust your training based on how you feel. Additionally, consulting with a fitness professional or a coach can help you design a training program that aligns with your specific goals and needs.

Good stuff, love it. Question: what is a good workout to do in April when training to come back from a lower leg injury and still compete at a high level?

Depending on your Injury I would focus on getting back 100% injury-free before intense training of any kind.

@@lyfestyleathletics Yes, absolutely. The injury is healed but the conditioning is way behind

It's hard to balance weights and sprinting as everyone is time poor and how much is enough. Is 2 days reserved for weight training sufficient for strength improvement? Do you have 2 days of track work and 2 days of weight training for a total of 4 days training per week?

Depending on where in your track season you are, I would start with 3 days per week and cut down to two or even 1 closer to competition
