filipinos use banana ketchup because during ww2 when the americans came to the philippines and introduced ketchup, we didn't have enough tomatoes to produce the usual tomato ketchup -- so we used bananas instead 😊
edit: the inventor's name is maria orosa, a filipino food scientist! one of the streets in manila is actually named after her.
Thank you Maria Orosa!

I like how not stuck up Gabie is when it comes to food, given her background as a chef. She always considers what the food is supposed to be, like fast food compared to michelin star restaurants and then judges the food accordingly.
Is she a chef by trade or did she just graduate from culinary school? Or both? But yes, she is fair when she judges food.
yes because every chef, no sorry person, knows that 😂 it's not a big deal..like Gordon Ramsay also doesn't expect that when he eats fast food, or at simpler restaurants because it's common sense

I don't even remember ever bothering to notice another Filipino for doing that. So I should stop doing it whenever I don't feel like using utensils but don't feel like having to wash afterwards? Should I also start calling out my Bisaya kababayans and tell them they need to stop eating their wrapped rice (puso) like that, as well as people who eat binalot meals that way? they're just used to the gloomy rainy weather while filipinos experience what hell is like for months.

Philippines is not that
Phils have two seasons the sunny and rainy or wet & dry seasons. Try to visit Summer from March to May and you will experience how hot is the Phil's. Don't come on June to Sept and you will experience the cold & windy chill of BER months with intermittent rains & cloudy sky.

The usual price of Jollibee chicken joy meal in the Philippines is (80+pesos) and when you add extra gravy, I think you have to pay extra 15-30 pesos. Here in Canada, the price of Chicken joy meal is 11 dollars (~440 pesos) plus tax and if you add gravy, you have to pay 4 dollars (160 pesos). YES!!! This was what I thought too when I first tried the spaghetti!!! Jollibee's spaghetti is the *only* spaghetti I actually like to eat😅.
As a Filipina, i was just simply happy Jly reacted to this. Come on guys! They are British and Gabbie is Korean.
They all travelled and lived in many places but their palate is accustomed with Korean & British foods.
The spaghetti will be a shock. The chicken will be marvellous to them! The others would be a disappointment. There would be a difference not just to the foods they’re used to but also to their personal preference.
Jollibee’s menu is mostly for kids, thus the sweetness of each items.
I honestly didn’t like Jollibee at first but when i grew up I missed the flavor. Jollibee was a price or a reward to Filipinos in a way that we go there rarely (at least for me).
If they got used to it, they will like it!
P.S. it still hurts me when they said they were disappointed and ate the rice like that😅 but it is a reaction!
True. I prefer HONEST reactions. Agree it takes a while for people to appreciate other foods they do not normally eat. If you haven’t seen the videos of Tribal people eating new foods, check it out. Appreciate how food can bring people together if viewed with an open mind.
Their review isn't even that bad, it's honest. Some people are just over exaggerating
I only eat Jollibee fried chicken among the fast food fried chicken joints, but yeah, the sides are mostly mediocre. As you said, you can taste it's meant to satisfy children's palate more. The chicken is freak'n amazing though, especially at fast food convenience and price, can't be beat.
I mean, if the chicken works in a chicken place, mission accomplished as far as I'm concerned.
@Rocci Alvarez Can't take any criticism and sarcasm is an insult to them. Josh and ollie love most of what they order, they like the chicken. Im Filo but I like the chicken and spaghetti that's it the rest of the menu is shit.
agreed I have tried phillipino speghetti and it must be aquired taste. But many many dishes are soooo good!
Jollibee spaghetti is sweet because the target consumer for that are KIDS.
Really? Then, is the price as low as that and does the children buy a lot? I am Korean and I am curious because there is no Jollibee in my country. Because in our country, fast food restaurants don't make children's food sweeter!
@@DoRuby Yes it is cheap but not every kids can afford it so they go for cheaper foods and probably other sweets. . It costs around 50 pesos or less than 1200 korean won. Filipinos usually likes sweets, i dont know how it started but we really do like sweets. Our mcdonalds even has spaghetti and it is sweet too but not as sweet as jollibee. Our noodles even has a SWEET and spicy flavor. Our snacks and junkfoods has sweet flavors too. Many of our dishes are also sweets even some soup. It's like, if korean like spicy Filipino on the other hand likes sweets. Our fastfoods offers a lot to children thats why we have mcdonalds happy meal(food with TOYS) and jollibee has a version of it too.
Though me personally, even i grew up eating jollibee spaghetti i probably go for an Italian spaghetti because maybe my tastebuds dont likes sweets anymore. 😂
@@DoRuby It's not the children who buys them but the parents. They buy them because it's what the kids like, sweet and meaty with hotdogs, and it's pretty cheap for a meal (about 1USD). It's a good startegy because once the kids grow up and have their own children, they remember the taste of Jollibee and thus, they bring their own family to Jollibee to introduce the taste they once loved.
Sure... as I go and buy a whole party pack for myself...

Filipino's should be honest. Our Jollibee is better.
Josh I don’t think so po. I tried the Jolly spaghetti sa Pinas pero it’s not as good as the American one po 😅
Agree ako sayo
I agree
Have you tasted it yet?
Yes im filipino
I like the combo of chicken, rice, and lumpia! Lumpia at Jollibee is so good! Lumpia is like egg rolls except better. The chicken in the sweet and sour dipping sauce for the lumpia is FABULOUS!
