"Why is this fortified with Iron?"
Hi, a Filipino Nutrition-Dietetics student here. According to the Republic Act No. 8976, Food Fortification program, all processed food must be fortified with a vitamin and/or mineral in order to battle the malnutrition that is prevalent in the country. If you're wondering, why in chips? It's because they're cheap and most families can only afford processed foods like chips, ramen noodles, and biscuits. Just sharing.
Wow, thank you for the info!!
I didnt know that i just like eating chips really
as a filo myself, i don’t know that. thank u for sharing!
Well...
That's a great policy
I’m a Filipino, and I literally have never read what was written at the back HAHAHAHA
Ako din 😂😂😂
SAME
I do, but rarely
Grabe naman magkakapareho tayo.
Ako din hahhaha
When Ollie actually read those descriptions, lmao. That's actually how it sounds in the tv ads. Amazing.
yess HAHAHAHHAHAA
Timestamps?
I remember back when I am in my elementary grade, when you have *Piattos* during recess or a snack, *you're the richest.* Lmaooooo
accurate af 🤣
Of course duh😆
It did cause me like ₱15 every time I bought one
Jared Tomongha How is 15 pesos expensive lmao I buy these for 30-35 pesos from the grocery store lmao
Paired with Choc-O or Chuckie, for the ultimate Rich kid combo
"Fortified with"
If you're going to eat junk foods anyway, you might as well get something nutritious instead of just salt, fat and msg.
Seriously though, malnutrition is still a problem in the Philippines especially in the very rural areas. Access to healthier snacks would is expensive. Thus.... fortified!
Mabuhay!
Yumi Faeldo I’m pretty sure the “fortified” is just a marketing ploy. I don’t think it has any real benefits.
I'm Filipino and I never really stopped to question it but! I have seen studies and how Sangkap Pinoy Seal Program (SPSP) encourages manufacturing companies to fortify (add nutrients that aren't naturally present in the processed foods) their food products to essentially diminish micronutrient deficiency in the country.
@@sinabonz8108 actually its in the nutrition facts
So true!!! At least you picked something nutritious along the way.
To fortify snack foods with vitamins is a law in the Philippines.
Filipinos in fact RARELY read blurbs on their snack's packaging! So, it's funny watching you as you read and give your reviews!
Lol I sometimes read it in recess cuz gadgets were banned from school and that was my pass time.
Unless it's a chippy comic.
true this is my first time knowing what's in the blurb and it's funny 😂
i always read those when im bored
No body reads those.
As a Filipino, them arguing about the sweet corn is really hilarious to watch.
😂
Well, in the Philippines we can’t call “Ketchup” as “Tomato” because we have Banana Ketchup 😂
what srsly banana? what do yall eat it with?
@@yeolmaes uuuh we dip hotdogs, hams, etc. Well, mostly any processed or fried foods. Also its sweet.
@@yeolmaes it doesn't taste banana flavoured or anything that tastes like a banana. it tastes sweet but not richer/saltier than a tomato ketchup would taste
*_every filipino household has it, btw lmao_*
We still have tomato catsup and I prefer that especially the sweeter one
@@yeolmaes duh everything.
Ollie: "Sweet Scorn"
Me: So I've been reading it wrong the entire time...
Same
My childhood has been wrong this whole time.
Ollie is such a genius. Not an (insert Josh's voice) idiot.
My life is a lie *
Whut
Their reaction on PEEWEE is so funny😂😂That was literally my reaction when I ate peewee when I was a kid.
Btw I'm a Filipino too, it's just that I'm not fond of Peewee. But I respect you guys who likes peewee😉
I really dislike it. Its just...ughhh? My mom loves it though. I don't understand.
I never liked them either but my grandma kept giving me those. I love my grandma so. Hehe...
Nobody's fond of pee wee lol. I never liked it too as a kid. I prefer Cheez-it over it anytime.
I like Cheeze it than Pee wee
i don’t like it too haha
“Doesn’t matter if I mind…you’re already doing it.” FUNNIEST THING IVE EVER HEARD! 😂
As a Filipino and my 13 years existence ..I have never read the “blurb” on the back of each snack 😂
Same. 😂😂😂
its my first time even HAHAHAHAHA
Me also
im 18 y/o Filipino and me neither
I didn't even know that existed in the packaging
As a Filipino, I would say I have never read the "blurb" at the back..
True! Goes to show that we just ate the snacks and not pay any attention to the packaging haha
😂
I'm the weirdo who read it in secret.
I read everything at the back of the packages. Starting now, Ollie's voice will be ringing in my head whenever I read those part. Haha.
Should've tried Nova and VCut.
As a fellow Filipino, hard samedt, swyzt.
Your Tagalog pronunciation is the best I’ve ever heard from non-native speakers. Like how is it so good?
Coz they can speak korean. They have a bit more flexible pronounciation since some korean words are similar to tagalog
"Sweet Scorn" sounds like a garage band's name
Josh: "We've received multiple - crap"
Juno: "Naughty Josh, bit messy"
Hahaha Juno said naughty Josh, not nasty Josh xD
@@flowerdolphin5648 I stand corrected, thank you
Flower Dolphin Juno saying ‘nasty Josh’ is funny tho
I can't hear it
@@andreluiz6023 it's from their other video
"Sweet Scorn"
I can't unsee it. I shall be calling that snack Sweet Scorn from now on.
I laugh so hard
HAHAHA!!!
I didn't realize it could be read as sweet scorn tho..🤣😂 my childhood favorite but I seldom got to buy it coz I only had little "baon" back then..
A T yah 😂😂😂
SAME HAHAHAHAHHAHA
Love how they pronounce “Piattos” piattoes but in the Philippines we just say it as it is
Mhm
Ako piatot hahahahahha
Is that not how you pronounce it? I've always said it like they did.
@@fBOMBB The "ttos" is pronounced just like how it is spelled, so it's not ttoes.
@@LucyTehWarrierwords in English could be read like that
choconut: exist
Nuno from trese: ill take you from entire stock

Really?! 🤣🤣

Me too😂
I saw one on the back of alibaba snack and that's it
Ollie is really hilarious, he could actually work for jack n jill as their commercial actor coz he sounds so good reading the blurbs hahaha
This is the first time I have heard a foreigner say "salamat" decently on their first try. Congrats!
Ollie sounds like that narrator from the Hansel crackers commercial when he read blurbs at the back of the chips 😆
Oh my ghod. HE DOES!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
speaking of hansel... bruh that glorious masterpiece wasn't even reviewed in this video... -can we get an f in the chat-
Omg.
OH YEAHHH HE DOES HAHAHAHAHA

Wow, Josh and Ollie!!! I love your channel and seeing you try Filipino snacks for a change is amazing!
I wanted them to try a MikMik so damn much just so Ollie can make cocaine jokes about it.
Oh yeah they would choke on that sweet sweet cocaune powder for kids 😂😂😂

jae same here! 🙋🏻♀️😅
Same. Even the fortified thingy. 😂

The meaning of Boy Ba-wang is well…garlic boy. Or boy garlic, and it is also a popular Filipino snack, I usually take it with me when me and my family where to go out of town and we needed a snack to well..snack on, and it obviously tastes like garlic but it tastes good.
When you're Filipino and actually really early to something.
Edit: You should've opened it by getting a pen and stabbing it in the middle and then tearing it, which is the correct way to open things if you want to be dramatic and are sharing with friends.
I feel like this joke is under appreciated and I do not like that
LMAOO
Yeah I also do this a lot
We always do this. ALWAYS

as a filipino, i never knew marty’s crackling was made from dehydrated peas HAHAAHHAHSHWAHHAA

Ima Filipino to lol I can agree
Ollie reading the back of the Chippy wrap makes me nostalgic because now it has comics
Choc-nut was my childhood sweets and i really missed it cause I cannot find it in stores anymore.
Josh and Ollie whenever they have any type of biscuit/cookie/cracker: “This would go great with a cup of tea.” 😂
Should bring a cup of tea with them next time
So true 😂😂
It's a British thing 😂😅
Also said by the fine people at "Irish people try...."
IKR 😁😂🇵🇭
"Doesn't matter if I mind. You're already doing it."
That's gonna be my new favourite reply to "Do you mind?"
Jessica 😂 Only if they’re already doing it.
I'm a Filipino and I'm obsessed with Rice. So I tried everything with rice. Cracklings or chips are actually great with Rice cause they are salty. The "weirdest" I did or according to my friends who've heard this is Peanut Butter with Rice, Cheese with Rice. HAHAHA
For me it I loved sweet corn (the chips) with rice 😂
I am so Happy to see this!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for loving and having us 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Josh : “We’ve received multiple- Crap”
Me : Oopsies 😞
I think Jack & Jill should get Ollie to advertise piatos with his narrators voice..
That would be a nice idea
@Kerby Alarva ga isturya ka bisaya?
hehe
you billigiran fool its piattos not piatos
I haven’t been back to the Philippines since I left at 14 (I’m 32 now) and had completely forgotten how much I loved Piatto’s. Thank you for reminding me ❤
"doesnt matter if i mind, youre already doing it" -ollie 2020
They should find Ollie for snack advertisement. He is so good in reading snack advertisement lines.
Omg right!? Haha
You two are so hilarious. This made my day
Ollie is just so comical! I am obsessed! Josh is such a sweetheart!
“doesn’t matter if i mind, you’re already doing it.”
I can hear Ollie saying "Once upon a hansel story" in the sexiest commercial ever
Yes!! HAHAHAHAHA
Preach!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Wait what? "Once upon a hansel story" is made for kids and acted out by kids. Don't make it sexy.
HHAHAAHAHA
I just found this one out and I bloody love that humour from both of them... Imma sub now.
I so love to hear Josh laugh! You guys are so funny 😂!
*Boy Bawang appears
"so boy bawang is fortified with garlic????"
me: bawang is garlic 😂
Ikr🤣😂
They didn’t know that garlic is “bawang” unfortunately hahahahaha
The bangwang though😂🤦
Lol
Bangwang😆
BOY BAWANG IS THE BOMB. I am Indonesian but I had a lot of Filipino teachers and one of them always gave us goodies every time he came back from the Philippines. Boy Bawang and Peanut Povolon were the biggest hits.
It's addicting lol. I don't really like it much but when I start eating boy bawang, i couldn't stop
Ikr, though it’s not my fave snack, i would still keep eating it LOL so it’s not an anti social snack like they said haha cuz its pretty common to eat with filipino people
Yesssss
bro it’s so good, i’ve been eating it since i was young when my filipino helper introduced me to Boy Bawang, i’m 16 now.
And recently i’ve found a mega bag of boy bawang with a zip which allows u to close it and eat as much as you want without having to consume a whole normal pack.
i have been staying in Philippines for almost 3 years now. Have tried almost all snack here. :P Piattos, Marty's crackling, butter coconut biscuit and boy bawang is the best..the most interesting is vinegar was very important because almost all food will be dip in vinegar or cook with vinegar.
Love ya for reading those context at the back of the snacks
When they read CHICHARON...I DIED 😂
"SHIKARON"
CH=SH in british english just like in french. Châteaux, Chat(cat), Chivalry, chocolat, chandelier
It’s ok they only also annoyed the Hispanic viewers.
that's another level of speaking in Filipino lol HAHAHAHHA gusto ko ng shikaron
pahinge ng shikaron😀 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
闇冬 wait so cat is shat? Lol
When Ollie pronounced “Chicharon” (Chi-cha-ron) as “Chi-ka-ron”, it so sossy to hear like pangmayaman na snack. HAHAHA.
They probably didn't realise it was a Spanish word lol
KVlogs I LITERALLY LOST IT GIGGLING 🤭
I DIED HAHAHA
boy bangwang got me like BAHAHAAAH
ChiKaRoN and BaNgWaNg
Watching this video after two years!!!🎉🎉🎉 I like that you are enjoying the food during our childhood. I’ve been watching all your videos for the past weeks and dropping in this video gives a nostalgic memories of my childhood.❤❤ These snacks are fortified with different vitamins because in the Philippines it is a common thing of malnutrition around the country. And most of the snacks that you had was made from vegetable flour and comes from the real flavor of the food. That explains the fortified logo on that food (I think so🤦♀️😁). It was checked thoroughly by our FDA or Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines before it could reach the local people around the country!!
I was enjoying your videos!!❤❤ and laughed along with you. 😂😂
You two are such great guys! And I didn’t miss a day watching a video from you cause my name reminds me of your channel.
I hope to see more from this channel. I just want to say Hi, to Juno, I’m a big fan of hers. She is very cute and bubbly, (runs along in the genes😂😂) also to Rev Chris, he is a very Jolly person, his videos are the one I’ve looking forward to all the time and the first thing that appears in my suggestion videos.
Thank you for making me JOLLY every day!🎉🎉❤❤

Filipino snacks are the same. I hope you guys get to try more.
I love this video! All of the snacks you featured were literally my childhood snacks! I hope you guys could also try “Haw-haw” it’s a milk candy. It’s a hidden gem! There’s also a soft serve version and a milk spread version of it. Choc-Nut has also a spread version and it is incredible!
In the Philippines we still have our McDonald’s mascots standing right there beside the Entrance literally right next to the door and it’s scary

The best way to clickbait Filipinos:
1. Add "Filipino" in the title.
But its a win win situation you idiot. If they promote Philippines, Philippines product, culture etc, our products sales outside of the country will sell more because of this.
@@jovelynroserodil9639 I agree with you. Im not against them. I'm just stating the fact that it becomes more effective for youtubers to attract Filipino viewers if they add "Filipino" to their titles.
But its not clickbait
Someones maaad
And the title should be? Are you even thinking?
Jolly biscuits are my favorites growing up! 🤤
Thanks for enjoying Filipino snacks! 🤗
Much love from a Filipina! 🇵🇭👊
I have an friend who is a part of a marketing team from one of these snack companies. She mentioned that there was this particular place where their Php1 (£0.02) snack sold really well. They investigated and found out that this impoverished district uses their snack as a side dish with rice and that this their meal - least cost. Perhaps some of those vitamins and iron on other snacks try to do the same thing?
10:37 "you go to another planet, and they're like, this is great", that's really funny cause we don't really like that either lmao
I like it tho

"Fortified with Iron" cause Iron Deficiency Anemia is common in PH. That's why iron-fortified food snacks/junks are common
What a coincidence. As the 69th person who liked this, I gotta say... I just found about by my iron-deficiency anemia a week ago and got the doctors so shocked because in all their field of experience, they've never had someone rushed to the hospital to get blood, JUST because of such a low amount iron in the body. From the normal of 15-16, I'm a one. 😅😂 I dunno why that was funny to me, when my mom (who is a doctor as well) isn't laughing about it. But. Eh.
Haha true tho i have iron deficiency ;^;
I like how they’re very honest about what they think with the snacks not like other youtubers who pretend to like it.
