I get the point you guys make about AOTY. But our biggest issue is that a black female artist hasn’t won that category since 1999. And the competition she lost to didn’t make since. The song name is coined from the common term "crocodile tears," which means fake tears. They're complaining about Black people entering a space that they originally created, hence her saying they're "alligator tears," and her saying she adores their alligator tears because they're ignorant and they look silly for not even knowing the origins of the genre. Alligator Tears is my favorite. She’s basically saying she gave Jay the world, does everything he wants but he’s always whining about something. You know in his raps he always talks about how she works so much and is career driven. She’s saying I do all this for you, so how does it feel to be adored. Basically passive aggressive. So alligator tears is a play of “crocodile tears” that Jay be having. Lol. It also has a Prince influence.

It's the same situation with best actress for the Oscars, Halle Berry is the ONLY black woman to EVER win. There's only been 3 black women in the history of the Grammys (Natalie Cole, Whitney, and Lauren Hill) to win AOTY. The major award shows do not want to award black women in the lead category, plain and simple. We are only worthy of runner-up wins in their mind. For the longest time, the Grammys has gotten away with covering this up by awarding Beyonce, the biggest black female artist in decades, with wins in any other category possible. But attention is finally being brought to it, which is likely the only way to bring about change. The Oscars pacify black women with supporting actress wins and best actor to black men every now and then. It's ashamed that this pattern has yet to change for each award show.

The song name is coined from the common term "crocodile tears," which means fake tears. They're complaining about Black people entering a space that they originally created, hence her saying they're "alligator tears," and her saying she adores their alligator tears because they're ignorant and they look silly for not even knowing the origins of the genre.
Those same people are acting like their precious space is being taken away from them or almost defiled by her very presence while, in the same breath, berating her, tearing down Black people, and being dismissive of their contributions to country music.
