On December 10th, Engine and Tower 13 responded to assist Brandywine Hundred Fire Company on a residential structure fire at 3 East 39th St in Pennrose. Chief 11-8A arrived to a two story ordinary construction house with fire showing from the bravo/charlie side.
Wilmington Fire Department Engine 3 arrived as the first engine making a push through a bravo side door on the first floor working towards the back of the building. Due to the construction of the building, void spaces and large body of fire, the fire quickly spread to the second floor. Tower 13 arrived as the first due special service initiating primary searches. Engine 13-2 arrived as the third engine securing a second water supply and stretching a line to the front door where they were met with heavy fire conditions.
Due to rapidly changing and deteriorating conditions crews were evacuated from the structure and transitioned to an exterior attack and remained until going under control.
11 cameras were utilized during this incident, helping our membership obtain footage for this valuable recruitment and training tool. This video shows the initial crews and the conditions throughout the incident in real time. It also shows the fast conditions changed and valuable training points for all units operating to take away.
