Noooo. The jdm market had an agreement that they'd not produce a car from factory with more then 280hp. Every single maker built engines capable of much more with nothing more then a tune as their way of getting around the so called agreement. Which wad supposed to be their way of counter acting bad public image caused by groups like midnight club and other street racers and the yakuza groups that whip around street racing doing much more serious crimes as well.
i believe, and i will die on this hill, like you cant convince me otherwise. They claim the R32 wasnt allowed cause of emissions, but I believe it was cause that car woulda outsold teh mustang and camaro combined or any "performance" car made at that point. Because people woulda saw how an R34 with just simple mods would dogwalk every american thing at the time
The real reason was Nissan was losing money with almost every car sold. Infinti was actually made to recoup those losses but never could. With this knowledge and the fact Japanese cars had an extreme tax on them, Nissan just couldn't afford it. So we only got cheap models of Nissan in the 90's with limited trim packages.
The Japanese had a Gentlemen's Agreement in the 90's where, per agreement, all production cars were said to be rated at 280 hp, the R34 was actually putting out 325 hp in stock trim, it was dubbed "Godzilla" for a reason.
Audi's all wheel drive system is unlike anything we have seen. Those cars were winning Rally races like hell to the point the wanted to ban them from competition
You can make 500ft lbs of torque before the transmission starts becomint an issue. And stock the rngines are good for like a max of like 650 maybe 700 ish if done well. But realistically above about 500hp they need some work like most nissans. Even the modern 350z and 370z have that same sprta limit.
2jz is good to 800 stock. The only advantage the rb has is in rev range and high rpms. Which a 2j can be built to do. The best rb series engine currently available. Is a fraken billet block set up from.australia which uses 2jz bits and is a hybrid engine and uses Honda bearings..... rb isn't the goat of jdm inline 6s. It's at best equal to a 2j. But the 2j always holds top spot. Now take that rb 2jz hybrid engine and yeah it wins. But it still needs 2j dna in the mix to win. Lol.
Also dude. Look up the stagea. And the 4 door versions of the gtr. You can build at awd gtr spec r34 4 door for the price of a new z car if you do it right.
Just cos something is faster, doesnt mean its better. I just love the handling, feeling, sound, appearance of muscle cars. Most Jdm cars just look ughh
Idk. Euro exotics take the cake for me. Yeah the cost more, but they can do so much more out of the box that any muscle car or JDM. Plus you can't deny the looks, literally some of the most beautiful looking cars are exotics.
@@malekd.ketchup9047 I gotta disagree with all of you to an extent. Domestic, JDM, Euro; all of them suck in some fashion. They usually can match each other with the right bits thrown on or whatever. At a certain point, you're just picking and choosing what downsides you'd rather live with. Doesn't mean any particular car is terrible. Just I've had a good time with a little bit of almost everything, annnnd equally been disappointed in some fashion. :/
tell that to mopar guys speed isnt everything japanese cars have a lot more styling imo how can you handle in any american car besides a corvette maybe lmao theyre all massive
@@TheDemonicDeity Power steering exists? A Nascar ran in Le Mans this year. It's not 1986 my guy. A C6 ZO6 weighs less than an R35 GT-R. And they came out two years apart.
Unfortunate Fact, Mercedes is the reason why we have the 25 year import law. Mercedes vehicles at U.S dealerships were over priced, people who were savvy just imported the German model for a lower price. Mercedes Lobbied Congress and Claimed that their German cars were unsafe because they weren't emission tested or crash tested. Congress banned the import any car younger that 25 years old if it hasn't been emission or crash tested, except Jeeps because of the post office. Fun fact Porsche is the reason why we got the show and display law. Porsche didn't want to import the Porsche 959 because it was to expensive to make, Porsche claimed the 959 was blocked from being sold in the U.S by the NHTSA. The NHTSA said that Porsche never filled paper work for the 959 to be crash tested. Billionaires including bill gates lobbied congress to get the 959 sold in America. Congress said that you could import cars with low production numbers but you can only drive them to car shows.
Crank vs wheel. AWD vs FWD. Tuned Maxima HP numbers for best performance vs DETUNED HP numbers for the Skyline to honor a gentleman's agreement between Japanese manufacturers. This car was and still is capable of much more performance with minimal mods, whereas, the Maxima is not. Lastly, the styling was so far ahead of its time. To this day, it still shits on the Maxima in the looks department.
2JZ is arguably better but im choosing RB. That thing also lets out a sweeter sound than the 2JZ. Also, you can't mention Attesa and Quattro and not mention Symmetrical AWD.
It had a CLAIMED 280hp. The Japanese have an agreement that they wouldn’t advertise actual horsepower numbers

That blue paint job and those Volk Racing wheels though 😍😎
One of the greatest cars that was ever made,Period!
Eh its only the nostalgia and engine why they are so expensive
Awsome assessment Sir carry on
They lied on the HP due to the gentleman's agreement in Japan they dyno about 320-330
315
$500k? .... Man I'll be shipping my R34 from Japan from the Docks
Congrats on your success
The lowest I seen a R34 nismo v spec was at $180,000 in Canada.
Even Dom acknowledged Paul's Skyline and it's TURBO AS A RIVAL. DOM ALWAYS KNEW PAUL WAS A THREAT
I wish dom kept his rx7 it was pretty cool ngl
Now when he said unfuckwithable I never laughed so hard I spit out water out my.mouth
Hail the king of cars
You know damn well if you ever saw one of these, there’s no way it was stock. It had at least 1,000

Nissan just didn't want to pay the money to federalize the Skyline for crash regulations, emissions and safety

Favorite car. Thank you!!!
Seen a pearl white one in the Chicagoland area yesterday. Definitely a head turner 💯💯
My dream car.

276 HP is the number I remember mostly on Gran Turismo and that Japanese tv show. For this Skyline and also the Supra and the RX-7
So I love AUDi that Quattro system is something else!!
Over six totaled years in Japan and ive witnessed god level automobiles
Japanese muscle 💪🏿
This car cost more than a Ford GT and Murcielago... Wow just WOW
Ill take a Ford gt and murcielago over a skyline
Audi's all wheel drive system is unlike anything we have seen. Those cars were winning Rally races like hell to the point the wanted to ban them from competition
The real godzilla
Man I’m a tell you, that Evo 9 bone stock is nasty, I got one and I’m still trying to decide if I’m going the up the hp.
And now that they are legal dealerships will absolutely charge out the ass and it's ridiculous
Nobody can fuck with Audis AWD system,
And the gtr was winning bc AWD wasn’t ban, so it was a advantage at that time
I need help with my non turbo R33 RB25 and what mods to do to make it turbo ready and a lot faster please help guru
perfectly said
He mentioned fast and the furious like the ford lightning wasn't maybe the actual fastest vechicle in the first movies lol
You mean the 2JZ Toyota supra. That lightning would get smoked

If they came across the pond all manufacturers would have made a better engine.
You listened to E-will didn't you??
R34s pretty overrated until you spend a fortune on upgrading the thing
It actually doesn't take much bro. Bigger turbo, intercooler, and hoses, along with a tune and good tires will put you in the game in a major way.

A stock Nissan maxima is about 300 hp why this so special?

Disagree. R34s stock aren’t that fast.
They weren't supposed to be. They were intentionally detuned to honor an agreement.
In sorry but if the skyline would have came out it would still be smoked a srt also I'm not paying 200k for no Nissan
The current GTR will eat most shit on the roads with a few mods.

😂 GT 3,000 had mor HP
Handling was ass though, and they put a lot of unnecessary tech into it that drove the weight up and eventually broke.
