Man who buys and then sells things like a normal shop owner: totally unacceptable A woman who enslaves a pig to carry around her 150kg cart only to sell you stuff that she illegally smuggled from the Gotoro empire, who is at war: completely fine.
The goods seem to be smuggled because of a possible embargo between the two countries, rather than the goods actually being illegal in the country. Also, purchasing stuff from a random smuggler is supporting small businesses.
@@jasonkeith2832 the goods are legal (except the bombs probably), what is illegal is the fact that she smuggled them, indicating that she did not go through the procedures required to export or import goods like Joja or pierre do. Or she illegally stole them from the gotoro empire. Both of which I have no doubt are illegal. It would still be illegal for her to import her goods from the gotoro empire, regardless of the trade status between the countries. Some good news about the movie theater. There is a slight chance that you can find a ticket in the trash can nearby, so you still have some hope of getting in someday!
AHHHHH !!!!!! this series is such a fun and funky escape -- it's absolutely DELIGHTFUL to see the sheer amount of things you know about this game, contrasted with the sheer amount that you don't / that you forget. it's a rollercoaster and i fucking love rollercoasters. anyways i just woke up & watched this so im not the most coherent, so please enjoy these bullet points: - im like 98% sure you can get an auto-grabber from skull caverns treasure floors !!! i know it's Just The One Cow, but if you pet them enough to get large milks, that gold quality cheese can help with any future grinding you need/want to do in skull cavern or the volcano dungeon ! - i love your sense of design so much ??? like you seem so chaotic when you're doing it, but it really looks so polished, functional, and aesthetically pleasing - eggy - your editing is so engaging and it makes my brain go ‼‼‼ p.s. obvi it's your challenge, your rules, but i think it's incredibly chill to buy things from marnie, willy, & sandy ! especially considering you made it so you Can't Buy The Backpack Upgrades, OR from pierre at festivals. if you want to keep it challenging, i think it could be fair to buy things from them that you can't get in other ways, for example! like trips to ginger island, some of sandy's decor, and animals from marnie -- but not hay, auto-grabbers, fishing lures, bait, omni-geodes, seeds, etc. i dunno, i think that could be fun !! i also just .... really like the animal aspect of stardew and it's very funny to watch you try so hard, and get so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter,
I randomly got the living hat dropped in the mines very early in the game and only found out about how rare it is through you :D I hope you'll get in the next one!
Love this series! Delighted to see part 2 (I legit gasped when I saw the notification). You rock Charlie! You are the absolute MVP for doing all this with no backpack upgrades omg
This was wonderful! I’ve watched Part 1 several times and even attempted a similar play through. Also, you will be able to milk your cow eventually if you get an autograbber from a Skull Cavern treasure room! Don’t despair! 😅
"Although I was musked up," is not a phrase I ever expected to hear, not only in a youtube video about a Stardew Valley challenge, but generally. I choked on my food. Congratulations. (Timestamp is 31:12)
I knew NOTHING of WIlly's boat to Ginger Island until I watched your videos. No one else I watched actually explained it like "hey... you gotta repair a boat in the back of Willy's house and by the way there is a Ginger Island" lol My first few playthroughs I ignored fishing because I couldn't find out how I was supposed to fish on the Xbox version but since figured that out. So here we are. New playthrough and i'll actually get further in the game than just getting everything but the Fishing done in the Community Center and making millions lol
I dont have the time to watch this right now but I clicked on the video so I could comment that I have been looking forward to this for SO LONG!!!! Can't wait to actually get to watch it!!!
36:40 "I now had full hearts with six people! And only three of them were old men, so I call that a win" I snorted 🤣 (sorry I'm late, just catching up on your channel, I love it!)
I'm very invested in the quest for the living hat, it must be returned to Quinoa to show everyone how organic, cruelty free and free range everything on the farm is
So umm, idk if you noticed, but the wilderness golems "spawn out of the ground" which at least I read as making it highly unlikely to spawn in a spot that's covered.. by for example flooring.. aka they'd be much more likely to spawn if you removed all the flooring or just run around on uncovered ground. Hope you find/found it eventually! I've only played one farm with the nightly monster visits, and I'm not one to put down much (if any) flooring. I was mostly just running between my buildings with errands in the evenings (aka not out on the farm much in evenings) and I had at least 5 monsters running or flying after me each night.
I love this series, and I think anti capitalist depends on how you decide to personally interperate it, like how joja is a chain store, and how Pierre buys his products from other businesses, where and marnie and presumably the travelling merchant don't
I know i'm so late but this series is so funny to me cause i have the Living Hat, i randomly got it, didn't have a clue how rare it was and just thought "What an ugly hat.". I am now more grateful for it.
The 100 days anti capitalist run was the first video I watched of this channel a mere 7 days ago And now I've already binged the other 100 days series and watching the SVE series as well I've been on youtube watching content for a good decade now. This channel is one of the best channels I've come across
I came here after the first 100 days and your struggle with the living hat...literally the moment you said it in the first video it dropped for me, spring 26, year one of my new playthrough...
Feel free to disregard this advice, but for the sake of perfection I would argue it is fair to buy anything essential (needed for perfection) and exclusive (cannot be obtained any other way) from the standard merchants is fully fair(aka milk pails, backpack/tool upgrades, buildings, fishing rods, rarecrows are all fair game). You still live in a capitalistic society - you are just doing everything you can to avoid it and some things aren't avoidable. You can still avoid buying animals, resources, seeds, bait & tackle, and the like to continue to destroy our capitalistic overlords. Edit: i also think any of the traveling merchants are fair game: both the normal one and the floating ones.
19:17 THE HAND. I died. 30:48 did you just- I'm loving these videos! As far as I'm concerned anti-capitalism doesn't mean not spending money at stores, does it? Just not at a huge company like JojaMart, and for Pierre well he's not a company but the challenge originated from not being able to buy seeds from him or at Joja, very simple. I always thought the focus of the anti-capitalism concept is to support local business, excluding Pierre (bc if you don't, then there's no challenge at all!!! Then it's just a normal, classic Stardew playthrough). Marnie is OK, reasons explained in other comments. For the love of Yoba get the bucket thing and milk that cow. Please. And feed the animals 😭 Willy, Clint, Robin, Aventurer's Guild, Movie Theater (*constructed by JUNIMOS*, not Joja), Island Trader, Desert Trader, Traveling Merchant, even Hat Mouse, the bus ride and the boat ride, they're all OK 👌. Support local, small business!!!! The challenge and series is yours so it's your decision, but do not let people in the comments with flawed logic try to tell you how to do your *own* challenge 🤨🤨🤨 They CLEARLY didn't get the point, I think they're mistaken if they think "anti-capitalism run/challenge" means "I don't buy anything from anyone", that would be the "Linus challenge" but I digress. Whatever you set at the start of the challenge as your rules and goals, that's what you have to stick to, no matter the name or title of the challenge and what the words could possibly imply or what others imagined the challenge to be. Shh. Hush.
Hot tip, the governor loves gold/iridium tier sturgeon in the luaou soup. You can actually look up what is best to add. I'm pretty sure the same quality of any wine other than blueberry or salmonberry works. Another hot tip, if you put a staircase in your pants, you'll get a certain pair of "special" pants
This series inspired me to play my own way as well: I've bought no animals, only incubating eggs I've found. The hardest egg for me to find was a duck egg, a dinosaur egg being my first find. I recycle every day, make honey and alcohol, care for my reptiles and birds, get my milk from...sources. (trader, trash, whatever!!!) and only buy seeds from Sandy. Currently on year 6 :)
I am rooting so hard for your living hat. Can't wait to see your next update; the farm looks adorable. My farms are always utilitarian nightmares of production.
Jas, Marnie and Shane's relationship is pretty cloudy in terms of who's blood related but I think the operating theory is that Marnie is actually Jas' great-aunt, or they aren't actually blood related. Marnie refers to them both as her niece and nephew, yet Shane is considered Jas' godfather rather than cousin/sibling and Jas' age makes more sense to be a 'great' in there when it comes to Marnie being her aunt. So my personal theory is that Jas is actually Shane's cousin once removed (making them related but with one generational level between them) making Marnie an aunt to Shane, but a great-aunt to Jas, and for ease of translation they just dropped the 'great' and left Marnie as Jas' aunt as well.
For it to be anti capitalist, you can still buy things that are worker-owned. Marnie and Willy are worker owned businesses, same with robin. They’re selling what they made with their labor and expertise

Where’s 300 days :(
Man who buys and then sells things like a normal shop owner: totally unacceptable
A woman who enslaves a pig to carry around her 150kg cart only to sell you stuff that she illegally smuggled from the Gotoro empire, who is at war: completely fine.
You kinda have a point with the small business, she’s like a food truck that sells every type of item.
@@xxdamastaboixx9836 But the country she is bringing the goods from is one they are actively at war with. Import and export with Gotoro is probably completely banned (hence why I mentioned an embargo).
@@jasonkeith2832 yes, she smuggled them illegally from the gotoro empire into stardew valley.
@@xxdamastaboixx9836 A point I've only agreed with from the start, citing a theoretical embargo as the reason for smuggling in the first place. You do know what an embargo is, no?
Such a great video! I've been waiting a while for 200 anti-capitalist days and I'm so glad it finally came out! Would love to see a 300 days!
Edit like 7 months later: you can get milk from an auto-grabber which renders your cow slightly less useless
loving this series Charlie!! keep it up
Some good news about the movie theater. There is a slight chance that you can find a ticket in the trash can nearby, so you still have some hope of getting in someday!
The void mayo can actually be fished up from basically in front of the henchman
AHHHHH !!!!!!
this series is such a fun and funky escape -- it's absolutely DELIGHTFUL to see the sheer amount of things you know about this game, contrasted with the sheer amount that you don't / that you forget. it's a rollercoaster and i fucking love rollercoasters. anyways i just woke up & watched this so im not the most coherent, so please enjoy these bullet points:
- im like 98% sure you can get an auto-grabber from skull caverns treasure floors !!! i know it's Just The One Cow, but if you pet them enough to get large milks, that gold quality cheese can help with any future grinding you need/want to do in skull cavern or the volcano dungeon !
- i love your sense of design so much ??? like you seem so chaotic when you're doing it, but it really looks so polished, functional, and aesthetically pleasing
- eggy
- your editing is so engaging and it makes my brain go ‼‼‼
p.s. obvi it's your challenge, your rules, but i think it's incredibly chill to buy things from marnie, willy, & sandy ! especially considering you made it so you Can't Buy The Backpack Upgrades, OR from pierre at festivals. if you want to keep it challenging, i think it could be fair to buy things from them that you can't get in other ways, for example! like trips to ginger island, some of sandy's decor, and animals from marnie -- but not hay, auto-grabbers, fishing lures, bait, omni-geodes, seeds, etc. i dunno, i think that could be fun !! i also just .... really like the animal aspect of stardew and it's very funny to watch you try so hard, and get so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter,
Yay, so happy to see part 2!! I'll offer up some fine iridium-quality goods to Yoba and pray you find the Living Hat soon 🙏
I am so grateful that this video is this long, you are so funny the editing is top tier ♥ Thank you!
This was wonderful! I’ve watched Part 1 several times and even attempted a similar play through. Also, you will be able to milk your cow eventually if you get an autograbber from a Skull Cavern treasure room! Don’t despair! 😅
I found part one of this little series last night at midnight, and it made me laugh out loud. You're awesome thank you for making this.
Thanks!
Thank you!! 😊
@@CharlieBarley Hi!!!
"Although I was musked up," is not a phrase I ever expected to hear, not only in a youtube video about a Stardew Valley challenge, but generally. I choked on my food. Congratulations.
(Timestamp is 31:12)
I literally love this series sm!! Keep up the awesome work Charlie!!💕
You know it’s serious when Charlie is giving Abigail gifts willingly.
10:34 omg too funny. I just love that moment, I feel it sums up Charlie in like 5 seconds
I dont have the time to watch this right now but I clicked on the video so I could comment that I have been looking forward to this for SO LONG!!!! Can't wait to actually get to watch it!!!
36:40 "I now had full hearts with six people! And only three of them were old men, so I call that a win"
I snorted 🤣
(sorry I'm late, just catching up on your channel, I love it!)
I'm very invested in the quest for the living hat, it must be returned to Quinoa to show everyone how organic, cruelty free and free range everything on the farm is
You have good taste. Elliot is my favorite of the bachelors and probably my favorite spouse option in the game. He's very sweet.
When is 300 days gonna happen!?!? I'm so invested in this series!
There's a members only stream of it on the channel.
I appreciate you writing out the closed captions for these videos 🙏
Yess, finally! I love this series, I've rewatched part one about 5 times now lol. Your videos are so fun to watch, you're doing great
I just liked the community post about this episode coming out!
Love your content and so glad to see this episode!
I love this series, and I think anti capitalist depends on how you decide to personally interperate it, like how joja is a chain store, and how Pierre buys his products from other businesses, where and marnie and presumably the travelling merchant don't
i have struggled SO HARD to find people who i enjoy watching play stardew, and i literally love your channel so much you are so awesome.
The first episode was how I found this channel! Nice to see it get a sequel 😆
35:02 Morris: "and I took that personally!"
Love this series! Appreciate all the effort you put in!
19:15 I respect you so much for the Fantastic Mr Fox reference
I only saw you just days ago now I'm literally in love with your videos!!! :D
I know i'm so late but this series is so funny to me cause i have the Living Hat, i randomly got it, didn't have a clue how rare it was and just thought "What an ugly hat.". I am now more grateful for it.
The 100 days anti capitalist run was the first video I watched of this channel a mere 7 days ago
And now I've already binged the other 100 days series and watching the SVE series as well
I've been on youtube watching content for a good decade now. This channel is one of the best channels I've come across
I came here after the first 100 days and your struggle with the living hat...literally the moment you said it in the first video it dropped for me, spring 26, year one of my new playthrough...
Nobody deserves a living hat more than you, Charlie.
YOOO I was honestly sad when I couldn't find any more to this series when I found the first video a while back. Loving it!
i dont understand how people: chop down all the trees and mine the stone, get to level 70 on the eighteenth day and plan ahead
Charlie, your first video is one of my comfort video's, I've been constantly stalking for months and finally it's here!
I do enjoy how she complains that Jodi hates all of her gifts when Jodi likes Salmonberries and blackberries.
I’m begging you to do a 300 days this is my favorite series on the internet and I’ve watched 100-200 days over 50 times. PLEASE…. Do a 300 days
11:07 EXACTLY!! HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY HATE THIS BEAUTIFUL MAN??
So excited for the upload thank you!!!
19:17 THE HAND. I died.
30:48 did you just-
I'm loving these videos!
Please. And feed the animals 😭
Willy, Clint, Robin, Aventurer's Guild, Movie Theater (*constructed by JUNIMOS*, not Joja), Island Trader, Desert Trader, Traveling Merchant, even Hat Mouse, the bus ride and the boat ride, they're all OK 👌.
Shh. Hush.
so ur telling me i watched two hours of this only to find out there’s no part 3? RAHHHHH
Hot tip, the governor loves gold/iridium tier sturgeon in the luaou soup. You can actually look up what is best to add. I'm pretty sure the same quality of any wine other than blueberry or salmonberry works.
Another hot tip, if you put a staircase in your pants, you'll get a certain pair of "special" pants
i had no clue how much people wanted that living hat. it was the first hat i got and i got a duplicate which is insane
4:25 he needed to give you that raw egg for ... Well I don't know but don't diss the best bachelor
I started a playthrough myself as soon as I finished the first part! This is awsome!! Keep up the amazing content!
We need the 300 days episode pleasee!!!!!!!
Dude, i am fully convinced that you are a genius, i cant even get thru vanilla stardew valley. you are a marvel
I got the living hat on my second day and then deleted it because I didn’t know how rare it really was.
I am rooting so hard for your living hat. Can't wait to see your next update; the farm looks adorable. My farms are always utilitarian nightmares of production.
It's quite late for this but the horse should've been named "Horseganic"
came back to SDV to start a new file and immediately went to your channel to watch some SDV videos. you’re my comfort YTer when it comes to SDV. 💚
I love those little doobers
I also love those little doobers
He gets it
I’ve watched this series twice in the past month, I hope she brings it back for 300 days eventually
Nice Video i love it!
FINALLY!!! I love the Anti-Capitalist series SO MUCH! Your commentary is great as well! Good Work!
