Scarlet and Ultraviolet are on opposite ends of the visible light spectrum. I interpret that as they have vastly different needs, wants and perception. As you mentioned the scheme continues with the silence/melody line. Great videos, guys!
Fun little connection here - phosphorescence is the phenomenon where a substance absorbs light of shorter wavelengths (damaging to us) and re-emits it at a longer wavelength (safe for us). In this instance, absorption of ultraviolet light being re-emitted as visible light, like scarlet.
So, Vessel dreams in phosphorescence - I've thought this could be a reference to how he absorbs the toxicity from Sleep (ultraviolet) and turn it into something beautiful and visible (a specific color like scarlet). Idk, just random thoughts 😂

Or just lamens terms, seeing scarlet shows the problems anyone can see in front of them. Wherein ultraviolet takes more effort to find things that nobody else sees. Basically bringing up old problems that were supposedly wiped clean.

Scarlet and ultraviolet are nearly opposite ends of the electromagnetic spectrum, with red being the first visible color and ultraviolet being just beyond the last visible color (violet). Same spectrum, opposite ends. Just like she needs the melody and he only needs the silence.
Actually... I don't think electromagnetic spectrum is the right spectrum here.

I got introduced to ST with my son at sonic temple this year. been on the journey ever since. like that you guys are trying to work these songs out on the fly. I seem to have easier time running them straight a few times for artistry then reading the vocals separate of the music before putting it all together with a few more listens. if you get a chance to see them live the stage show ,lights, and the fact you physically feel the force of the sound add even more depth to this incredible band. I tend to gravitate to the ideas that all the songs describe a real tortured relationship and attempting to heal from it more than the sleep concept due to the literal nature of lyrics like those in atlantic and granite and the real life scars on his arms but im open to the idea that it may not and the mystery of the songs , the band members themselves, and the fact they dont conform to any genre make it all even more enjoyable.
My interpretation:
Levitate “ we imitate a story of perfect days, a ballad we fabricate”
Here he says, “we are exhausted by all this pretending”
Scarlet is the important things like the heart and she’s looking at everything but that.
The melody is the arguing and he just wants peace. He’s a danger because he’s a fire and she’s dry as bone and she doesn’t want to commit so she keeps him at a distance.
In a song by his previous band he says she’s a legion but a beautiful passenger alone.
Here he says you are one among many but you’re now on your own.
This to me it’s the different substance usage personalities vs being sober. That’s also what I believe he means by only remembering when she’s alone or sober.
Granting you more than the debt that I owe to me means I owe you nothing and I’m giving you everything

I think he is saying I'm giving you more than is required to make up for my mistakes. I think his effort is surpassing what would be considered matched in what he owes in his mistakes. He is trying and trying and still isn't enough.

I've BEEN in this relationship. This song just guts me, and it touches a pit of anger that's deep in my chest. Two wrongs don't make a right. There's no forgiveness even with over the top effort, fighting for a love that you both thought existed but it was nothing but ideals. Expectations from false perspectives. Bending to the extremes of the others beliefs to be met by ridicul from both sides, yet holding on to the death of each others peace of mind,to scream at the end " I owe you my loss of self and hatred"

I've been through this before.
When i'm alone, I think about things. Alone =lonely.
So when i'm alone, I realize that he's granting me more than any debt he would owe to me. Maybe he's done stuff to me, and i've put him through hell for the things he's done , but he still goes above and beyond what he needs to, to get me back. Make sense? Like he may have done me wrong or pissed me off so I made him do things to make up for it, but it probably wasn't even that bad, and he's showing me that he'll do so much for those things he did, just o get me back with him.
Makes perfect sense! I lived that way for a long time...
This one is my favorite of their's. I think anyone who's experienced a toxic relationship can relate to, "You can only remember when you're alone that I'm granting you more than the debt that I owe."

I'm pretty sure that this song is from the opposite POV of most of the other songs. Most songs portray a one sided relationship between a devotee and an abuser, whereas this song tries to frame them as equals and both instigating the drama and toxicity. Also, "I am granting you more than the debt that I owe" is an iconic gaslighting line. She's giving him more than he deserves, she's not abusing him, he's abusing her time.
Also, I have a theory that only Sleep screams, never Vessel, if you know what I mean.

I interpret the i look for scarlet, and you look for ultraviolet and i look for fresh blood scarlet red blood while you look at the old hidden past dried blood thats revealed in the ultraviolet

“Melody” may be that she needs a direction to follow, while his “silence” is his ability to carve his own path. It may also explain why he is the “fire” to her “dry as bone” or the “danger” to her “long way from home”, because he may try to push her past her comfort zone and disappoint/hurt himself when she cannot abandon her safety for him (“Most days you reach for safety. Remain calm, forget that you know me”). Upon the first few listen throughs it might feel like Vessel is laying the blame on the other person or being in this scenario, but the more I listen the more I hear and see the self loathing and self blame.

I'm unclear if you know the Backstory of the group… their schtick is they worship/ are the mouthpiece of an Eldritch God named Sleep.
Yes we are aware of the lore behind the band. We definitely have it as a factor but we are letting the music direct us to the lore if that makes sense

You have to remember that some songs are vessel talking to her, the goddess of Sleep. Some of the songs are her talking to vessel. Some of them are the two of them talking back and forth. I believe that this is either her talking to vessel or them talking back and forth. Something to think about. Enjoy!

This song is from the perspective of sleep, which adds a whole new level of to it when you listen to the lyrics though that lens.

So this being the 5th song from the album if we take a linear path we can see Higher as Vessel trying to give into Sleep but in The Love You Want, Sleep has stepped away from Vessel and he's trying to get her back and ignite her fire again within him and in Ascensionism he says screw it, I'll become higher with or without you and I'll use the same tactics as you used on me. Also I've persevere "the debt that I owe" is that he had to give up himself to bring Sleep into this physical world so she can be worshipped, see auqa regia "and these days I'm a circuit board, integrated hardware you can not afford." But this is only I'm crazy thumbtack theory lol

7:24 When you owe someone something, it’s possible to do extra that has nothing to do with the debt.
Example: A woman’s husband owes her a car after he accidentally totals her car. In addition to trying to get her a new car he’s giving her extra gifts, extra love, extra attention. Technically all that is unrelated to actually getting her a new car but he’s still trying to use it in addition to the debt.
Also, it could just be he’s paying back more than the debt is worth.

I think that Scarlett and UltraViolet means that they are in the same spectrum but opposite ends, with different color tones. So they want the same things in life, but each person is going towards the relationship differently.
