@@WatchAdvisor I’m always a bracelet man and would choose the white dial - but the black is very nice as well. As I’m on the ‘waiting list’ for a Daytona I’m going to remain patient and hope to receive an AD call one day🤞

First Zenith that I am very interested in owning. Both dial variations are great and the fact that you get both bracelet and strap is fantastic. The ceramic bezel was a very smart decision as well. Well done Zenith! Kudos to JC Biver... what a brand and product genius.
Biver spoke two years ago about how Zenith would develop and own something unique based on the tradition and heritage of El Primero movement... and that was to be the only 1/10 chronometer. Product development takes time and it was Biver leading that charge years ago trying to make Zenith relevant again. I’m not detracting from the current team but they are reaping the rewards today of an excellent strategy set in motion years earlier.
@@WatchMeEDC I love and honor Jean-Claude Biver for all he has done for Zenith and many more brands... I am a close friend of Jean-Claude for almost 30 years... Julien Tornare was part of that decision and it was him to put everything together with his team...
I wasn't really interested in chronograph watches until I watched this video but your detailed and easy to understand explanation and exceptional photography / videography have converted me!
Very beautiful! I have been enjoying my Defy 21 el primero measuring 1/100 of a second, but this is so beautiful and stylish, it's just great. Beautiful video!
Thank you! I also like the Defy 21 1/100th of a second... Watching the central second hand is like watching a movie... the chronograph is big cinema for the wrist!
Before introducing the own 4130 chronograph calibre in 2000 Rolex had no own one... they decided to use the El Primero since it was and is a very good calibre. But we do also have to mention that Rolex modified the El Primero quite a bit...
Thanks for showing us the hacking seconds function, it's about time Zenith. Going through the watch settings is important to would-be purchasers, so well done WatchAdvisor.
@@WatchAdvisor I'd probably go for the black dial with the metal bracelet. I like the simplicity of the micro-adjustment - nice and reliable. Glide-lock systems and similar can snag up after a long period of use - even on luxury timepieces. It's a hard call though, the blue rubber strap looked great on the white dial too. What a difficult choice! Danke für die tolle Videos und bleib' gesund!
I fully acknowledge as do most enthusiast 100% that Omega and Zenith have a far superior movements. This Zenith certainly hits the mark. Really - I want to own one. However, the one thing Rolex has that Omega and Zenith does not is the brand equity that Rolex brings to market. It’s not just the watch; it’s the brand equity, and that is why the Daytona Panda is selling up to 30k on the pre-owned market. Is it worth, the market says yes. If you want the better watch? Grab the Zenith. Keep up the great content here! Ciao,
The religious hype around Rolex was and is created by greedy, selfish ADs, their flippers and resellers... they all together make good money from it... Rolex official prices are absolutely correct and you get INCREDIBLE value for the money. Everyone paying more is a fool - sorry! If Rolex wanted to sell its watches for more, they would do it... What happens since some years now is not healthy anymore and does no good to Rolex on a long term base ...
@@WatchAdvisor would need to see in the flesh but looking at pictures the black dial on the bracelet 😍 question for you, what steel is the bracelet made from if you know? Thanks
Love your reviews, your camera work and the fact you show the dials in different lighting! Firstly I'd like to say that you need a tool to make the micro adjustments on the clasp ( be it a tooth pick or something else) and it would be been nice to have a tool free micro adjustment in a watch in this price range. The dial design looks amazing, I prefer this design to the el primero Chronomaster. I do feel that the choice to go with a matte white dial is a miss on zenith's part seeing as they make beautiful lacquered white dials and that the black one has a lacquered dial. It would've made the white dial feel richer and more expensive. Regarding the movement, I hope they'll come out with a regular minutes/hours subdial version as well. I honestly think that a true Panda dial with regular sub dials and lacquered dial could make this the ultimate panda sport Chrono. Small edit: the description says the black dial is matte, but zenith say it's lacquered and it's obvious in the video that it has a glossy/reflective finish
Thanks for your interesting feedback and remarks! That error in the description was my fault. I copied the description of white and only changed the word white to black ... I wanted to speed up writing... Will correct as I type 😉
My goodness Sir , but its not about Omega vs Rolex its different manufacturers competing with our dreams , and thank goodness that we have the beacon for horology from the Independent voice of information for us all 👍 Tam.
Hi Alexander, thanks for another great review. In my eye this Zenith is the watch of the month. Hope to get my hands on one of this beauties when the lockdown is over. Chees!
@@WatchAdvisor I hope you saw it because he just took it down! Message on his instagram: "I've removed the Zenith Daytona video because the channel was losing subscribers, which is obviously counter-productive". "I still stand by my opinion in the video". 🤦♂️
Wonderful watch and a great video on detailing it, especially the practicality of the 1/10th of second compared to the rest of chronos! Too bad lots of people will just focus on the ceramic bezel and say it's a Daytona wannabe without even knowing it's not even tachymeter! I am a big fan of Zenith EP, i have a 1976 EP Pilot/Diver but have not had any urge to get a new EP until this one. Gonna try it out asap.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I couldn't agree more and I wrote the same a couple of times in answers to comments earlier today and yesterday... BRAVO!
@@WatchAdvisor I think the subdial at 9 in the white one will be subdued - doesn't offer the same contrast as the black variant. So, black would be preferred option, on possibly an alternative, Defy strap! (as a seperate purchase)
I like the black and the white dials, but would really like to see a sunburst dark blue dial with the blue subdial changed to black. I think that would really catch the eye, although I would happily have the black dial too ........ or the white.
The El Primero chronographs of Zenith rank among the most iconic of the Swiss Watch Industry. At least one of them should be in each watch collection...
this is a perfect watch for the 100 meter race in the Olympics, everything about this watch is perfect, I got a woman and I am not worry about the Clasp on this watch, thank you watch advisor for presenting the Zenith movements and how strong the El Primero calibre is, best El primero video, great job friend.
Now that the market and the competition becomes more and more relevant and desirable, the whole rolex shortage bullshit will get on customers nerves and turn them away
Blame the ADs and the silly games they play with both, their loyal and new customers, and NOT Rolex! Rolex delivers enough watches and asks that they are sold for the list price. When you buy a Rolex for the list price you get a superb watch, absolutely fair priced... So NEVER buy a Rolex for more than this and DO NOT play the games ADs ask you to play... Stick to another cool brand and enjoy life!
Hi Alexander, fantastic video: the Zenith El Primero "Daytona - Edition", maybe gives Rolex a some competition with the historical background knowledge - Zenith should play this right - great watch, great innovation, really a swiss alternative to the big brother
Wow, Alex - you've been busy! Great review! You've also really improved the camerawork and lighting recently. Now, this watch! Simply, I'm blown away. It is stunning. Finally, a modern, classy, sporty, classic watch that does justice to this fabulous movement. All other chrono manufacturers should be very worried, at any price. 1/10th sweep and bezel scale is fine looking and practical; the size and proportions finally align; waterproof with no ugly, awkward screw pushers; it hacks!!! I prefer the black as it integrates the date and tones down the bezel better. I would have liked a 1200 lume orientation mark, aluminium bezel, brushed bracelet centre links and twin trigger, adjustable clasp, but those are trivial niggles that wouldn't stop me buying. I think I would wear it on leather anyway. And I may just, once I can visit a shop! I think we will be spoiled for choice in 2021!
2021 will be an interesting watch year again. Many companies held back new watches last year to present them in the next months to come ... I am happy and proud to read that you are aware of all the little improvements we make. It was never planed that I start filming as I do now... I had to adapt, react and learn to do it. With Jorge I have one the best cameraman in our team and unfortunately we can't take advantage of his skills. I liked your remarks on the chronograph. Thanks for sharing!
I have a El Primero Striking 10th limited edition from 2011... one of the 1969 pieces... and I very much like it!!! Jean-Fred Dufour sold it too me... 😉
I really like this watch. Very thorough review. I dont look at this as a Daytona homage, to me it still has a real Zenith vibe to it .and it looks sharper than the Daytona IMO.
@@reservecommander4856 I hear you concerning the bracelet… why not wearing it with a cool strap? Congratulations, bravo for buying this cool chronograph! May your Zenith always show you happy seconds, minutes and hours…
Excellent review as always. I agree completely with the bracelet being a scratch magnet. I find the clasp very unimpressive for a watch of this price range. Cordora strap on this watch...it's like putting Continental tires on a Ferrari. No way a Cordura strap is worth $500. (bracelet v strap price). Love the watch with the black dial. It would be a hard choice for me. This new Zenith or for a few grand more a watch with HM&C on the dial 👌👍😊
Thank you 🙏🏻 for the kind feedback! I am not a bracelet fan/wearer, if possible I buy my watches with a strap. In this case I would got for the white dial version and wear it with that rubber strap and/or organise me a good looking tissue strap for it...
A great review Alex your passion, knowledge and in depth review of this new Zenith is much appreciated. Calling this a Homage watch by Bark and Jack truly shows his lack of knowledge and appreciation for the brand. I am a great fan of Zenith I have a Defy 21 and the 384 revival and my Chronomaster sport will be my third.I have subscribed to your channel keep up the great reviews.
The history of watchmaking tells us: we all have to stay with our two feeds on the ground. Neither Rolex, nor Zenith did reinvent the wheel. When a watch is round the possibilities are limited to set accents to distinguish one from the other. Both brands share a common history on top! The only ones really being bothered by this beautiful Chronomaster Sport are the greedy resellers of Daytona Chronographs. Zenith did in fact seriously disturb their artificially crown "business model". It showed after some research that those who cried the loudest all had something to loose: business! So BRAVO to Zenith for disrupting this greedy and opportunistic selling of Rolex watches for 3x the price of retail...
Thanks for such an outstanding review. Very appealing chronograph. What better than Zenith can replace Daytona especially that Zenith movement was running Daytona for long time.
@@WatchAdvisor thanks for the invitation. I am not sure if it was wise from Zenith to release 2 versions of the chronomaster ( revival and sport) within one month. Will compete with each other.
Please do not compare the Chronomaster Sport to a Daytona! See it as a new and attractive chronograph offering a real USP - the 1/10th of a second... Once you saw it life, please share your thoughts with us!
Well done Alexander, certainly the best review I’ve seen of this beautiful Zenith (many others only point out its similarity with the Daytona). I like the the white dial and the steel bracelet. Is there any foto available of the gold version?

Great review as always! Like the new movement a lot and I don't see it as a daytona copy like some do. Seems to be more of a modern and sporty take on the Zenith El Primero, the case remains the same design with an additional ceramic bezel, new bracelet and some tweaks on the overall design. The 1/10th of a second thing is not for me but I believe future releases would get more and more interesting for sure.
Bravo! Thats the way to see the Chronomaster Sport! It is everything, but not a copy of the Daytona... The 1/10th of a second is the USP of the chronograph ...
I expected to like the white dial more, but the black dial has more pop/pizzazz especially in contrast with the colored sub-dials. i'd go with the black for this one.
if i would be a watch designer, tis is the chronograph i would build, what a great watch, what a great job from Zenith, my new grail watch ... one day this watch will be mine
You are not the only one! I quickly exchanged some first thoughts with Julien Tornare via WhatsApp today and he told me that he is overwhelmed about the interest and the orders coming in after only one day... May this Chronomaster Sport help Zenith to gain terrain!
I think it’s a fantastic looking watch at a very nice size. A little disappointed about no quick adjust on the clasp but I do think a white dial on bracelet would look nice sat next to my El Primero Classic Cars. The question is can I justify 2 El Primeros in the collection? Serious thinking time ahead!
@@WatchAdvisor Decision made! A couple of Bremonts and an Aquis set to one side for sale to part fund a white dial on bracelet to go with my Classic Cars. What do you think? Good or bad decision?
True! tastes are different... and everyone will find his choice... The offer is good and the quality also. The bracelet could be better... I would wear it with the rubber strap...
Perfect review and a gorgeous connoisseur’s piece. The white dial is very reminiscent of the ceramic panda Daytona but I feel that this piece has more going for it with the caseback view, date feature plus fun 1/10th second feature. The pin and hole method of bracelet adjustment is a little outdated and I have this on an old Breitling Aerospace, but it’s a piece of cake and you’d be surprised how little you need to use it. Polished centre links are a pain as they mark even by breathing on them, ask any Rolex Datejust owner on an oyster bracelet like me. But they certainly look cool but if you have OCD in any way steer clear for sure. That movement looks amazing. Overall what a great watch. I was considering an open blue dial Chronomaster but will have to now wait until I see this bad boy in the metal. Your amazing photography really is an examplar in the watch business. Well done!
What a nice read! Thanks for sharing and for your kind feedback! I said it in the video that these polished links will quickly get some „patina“... I very much like this pictorial representation of the 1/10 of a second, what an USP for Zenith! And on top the only chronograph that really makes sense...
@@WatchAdvisor if you want the most delicate polished centre links on the planet buy the two tone bluesy Submariner. You can mark those links by sneezing in another room. A block away... ;) Patina. Relax into the patina. Go take a look at the back of your favourite spoon. Same metal.
I don’t see it as the Daytona killer, because anyone can’t kill this iconic chronograph. The new Chronomaster Sport is writing a new chapter at Zenith... Only time will tell how successful this chronograph will be. The start was good, yet fabulous... I keep my fingers crossed 🤞🏼
What exactly do you mean with “slightly off”? This is most likely caused by the camera ... depending on the angle I film the lens causes some distortion ...
@@WatchAdvisor the white dot on the bezel at 12 o' clock seems slightly off to the right i.e. it's not dead centre. Saw another RUclips video and the owner said the bezel on his is slightly misaligned.
Alex Ng Well I will check all the material I filmed again and see if I have a real frontal shot... Keep in mind that at least the watches I had for filming in December were pre-series...
Great review Alexander. The white dial version on a rubber strap is now on my RADAR, the black looks great but the white one wins for readability of the chronograph. The execution of the date complication is OK matching the dial colour for the date back ground. One to ponder for me. I love that chronograph sweeper aesthetic,
It is overwhelming to witness live the buzz this new Zenith caused. They so much deserve it! Go for it! This is for sure a cool chronograph... Let me know if you have any questions...
Superb Video! I always love how you present and walk through the details. Thank you! Such a lovely timepiece. One question-is this within COSC standards or how was accuracy?
I’m a big Rolex fan.. and thought the same way some others do... but It’s actually growing on me... now I cannot wait to see the actual watch... Love the date!!!!!!!
I admit I am boxing people little with this opinion but.. Rolex,Tesla and Apple people think that buying these make them seem smart and successful in the eyes of other people. A guy who buys Zenith don't have to pretend anything. I like the fabric strap more also.
Depends on the angle the camera filmed the display... Yes, in some pictures it looks like, but when looking frontal on the dial I don't see that issue...
Hi Alexander, excellent video as always! I noticed the minute hand on the 6 o'clock sub dial is misaligned on both watches @27:28 Is this poor QC, does the movement have a defect? Thanks
No, no!!! This was me... I stopped both chronographs at Zero/Zero without resetting them to Zero... Happens when I film and think 🤔 what to say in the next scene and play around with the watch(es) in front of me.... I should not have filmed them that way. Apologies!
Looks like Rolex will have to up their game with their new Daytona release of 2021, after the Breitling, Omega and Zenith releases the chronograph market was never more stacked. It is great for us watches lovers as we will have so many options to choose from. Thanks Alexander 👍
Just checked my own old El Primero - date change does have a solid mechanical click when I change it, and using the minute hand, the date changes about 4 seconds to midnight. But of course no hacking seconds. Looking at the movement you show through the caseback, it looks like it has the classic El Primero column wheel and horizontal clutch design. Also I like the color of the subdials in this new El Primero, as opposed to the versions with stronger multiple colors. In my version, the subdials are white, just like the dial, however.
The new 3600 at its base is an El Primero... with many improvements under the hood and a clear USP with that particular 1/10th of a second indication...
Omega, Zenith and Grand Seiko are making their moves in the market with technical and design innovation... Aiming to take the share of the market that Rolex has left wide open with their lack of availability, innovation and inflated prices.
A real chance for others! Yes! A majority of presumptuous acting ADs, the flippers working with/for them and a profitable and very well organized parallel market in the background do actually NO good to Rolex. The amount of people complaining/being fed up rises every day. The brand itself has no lack in innovation! Rolex is delivering correctly priced, superb watches under all aspects to the markets. Just my two cents...
@@WatchAdvisor Historically there's no doubt that Rolex has been a great innovator- arguably the best. By lack of innovation I refer to their recent releases, which in summary can be described as bigger cases and a bunch of new colors... that's about it. Meanwhile the others are introducing great new movements (Grand Seiko 9SA5, this Zenith, Omega Co-axial hand wound new Speddy, etc.) fresh designs and even this new interesting chronograph complication. Just my humble opinion ;) I agree the flippers and AD's are no good for Rolex.
The new Sub movement was a pretty big deal. Explorer will be getting a makeover this year as well. Sky Dweller is a unique complication. Tudor is absolutely crushing it with their charming offerings. Rolex is moving up, Tudor is positioned to compete with GS, Omega. Just wait til Tudor brings back their Sub. You will stroke. Lol
@@brandonnickerson8934 new sub movement? New explorer? Well have to wait and see, can’t comment here because it hasn’t happened. If they make it a 41 they’ve ruined it. Tudor crushing it? Maybe or maybe not. Tudor is generally considered a tier below GS, Omega, IWC, Zenith. Bring back their sub? (The Submariner homage?) I dont know, they seem to already have to solid diver options, the BB and Pelagos, why another one?
Measuring the Olympic 100m sprint would be fun, alas Mr. Bolt has retired for sub 10s performance! This watch would be amazing in a bullet proof full ceramic jacket. I’d prefer an alligator strap but they are keeping it sporty on rubber.
@@WatchAdvisor : very appealing ‚face’ design, surprising and useful new features, dimensions seem to work very well (though I’d prefer a height below 13mm), polished surfaces on the bracelet seem to have some wobbly reflections (not sure if the surface quality is comparable to the Rolex bracelet) Further, not sure if I’d prefer the subdials all in the same color and slightly smaller (not touching) - I know it’s the characteristic El Primero Look Overall very interesting!
IMO, the black dial is hard to see the movement of the second hand which is black. The white dial is more legible because of the contrast of black and white.
Thanks Alexander. Great presentation. Between the two I like the white. If they can be bought separately the black strap I think would work well. Thanks again.
Of course you will be able to get the black rubber strap as well... once deliveries started and everything is on stock, that should be no problem. And in case it is, let me know... I’ll do the necessary to solve the “problem”...

I am happy to read this! Let me know if you have any question...
This is now my grail watch. The price is reasonable for such advanced horology. Another winning video from Mr AL ...... Thanks!
Thank you very much for sharing your feedback and your positive feedback. Black or white dial? Bracelet or rubber strap?
@@WatchAdvisor Very well put. You nailed it.
Absolutely love this new Zenith and this is probably the best review I've seen on it yet 👌
My pleasure! Thank you very much! Black or white dial, bracelet or strap?
@@WatchAdvisor would need to see in the flesh but looking at pictures the black dial on the bracelet 😍 question for you, what steel is the bracelet made from if you know?
Thanks
Excellent as usual Alex!! Always a thumbs up from me.
Love your comment! Thanks for posting...

You made me curious! I will watch that video now...
@@WatchAdvisor I hope you saw it because he just took it down! Message on his instagram: "I've removed the Zenith Daytona video because the channel was losing subscribers, which is obviously counter-productive". "I still stand by my opinion in the video". 🤦♂️

@@WatchAdvisor haha great! 👍
Wish they offered a fully satin bracelet. That polished middle is gonna scratch like crazy. Great video!!
I said it in the video... this polished surface will quickly scratch...
BRAVO!
That's gorgeous, can't wait to see one in my hands👍
Which one is so far your favorite?
@@WatchAdvisor I think the subdial at 9 in the white one will be subdued - doesn't offer the same contrast as the black variant. So, black would be preferred option, on possibly an alternative, Defy strap! (as a seperate purchase)
I am more tempted by the white dial... tastes are different... Enjoy being spoilt for choice... Adding a Defy strap is a good idea!
I like the black and the white dials, but would really like to see a sunburst dark blue dial with the blue subdial changed to black. I think that would really catch the eye, although I would happily have the black dial too ........ or the white.
I like it when Zenith changes the color combination of the sub dials. 36000 beats also alai makes most sense. This is a winner.
You are welcome!
Great detailed and thoughtful review. Definitely on my to buy list.
Thank you very much! Let me know if you have any questions...
Hi Alexander, fantastic video: the Zenith El Primero "Daytona - Edition", maybe gives Rolex a some competition with the historical background knowledge - Zenith should play this right - great watch, great innovation, really a swiss alternative to the big brother

Look forward to seeing one in person. Was looking to add the new speedmaster pro to the collection. This could be an interesting alternative.

Great video, stunning watch!

Another great video showing us exciting new releases! I have the 50th anniversary chronomaster 2, very similar, but love these new dials!
Correct, it is a Zenith! On top it offers a real USP with the 1/10th of a second and the way it displays it...
A stunning design now with hacking seconds, this has got to be one of the candidates for watch of the year, and we are only in January!
Thats a cool chronograph indeed. Watch of the year? We will see! I do expect some other nice watches to be presented this year though...

In this case I would got for the white dial version and wear it with that rubber strap and/or organise me a good looking tissue strap for it...
nicely done as always. the best in the business!
Thank you Tom! Any thoughts about the new chronograph?
Very well said.
Great quality is what you deliver here, my friend! Keep that up, I just subscribed...👋✌️
My pleasure! Welcome to WatchAdvisor!
Cool watch and excellent video, thank you Alex - Quite a lot of micro scratches on the clasp already, so I guess this will be a scratch magnet
I know, that's what I said in the video... This looks good as long the bracelet is polished but soon will get some "patina" ...

I think it’s a fantastic looking watch at a very nice size. A little disappointed about no quick adjust on the clasp but I do think a white dial on bracelet would look nice sat next to my El Primero Classic Cars. The question is can I justify 2 El Primeros in the collection? Serious thinking time ahead!

this watch keeps growing on me.. if i ever get a chronograph, it's going to be a zenith

Same metal.
Amazing watch ! this is the Daytona killer 🔥

Thanks for the in-depth video. Anyone else see the printing (the 12 o' clock dot at 1:09) on the ceramic bezel of the black dial is slightly off?
What exactly do you mean with “slightly off”? This is most likely caused by the camera ... depending on the angle I film the lens causes some distortion ...
@@WatchAdvisor the white dot on the bezel at 12 o' clock seems slightly off to the right i.e. it's not dead centre. Saw another RUclips video and the owner said the bezel on his is slightly misaligned.
Alex Ng Well I will check all the material I filmed again and see if I have a real frontal shot... Keep in mind that at least the watches I had for filming in December were pre-series...
That isn’t a ‘dot’ it’s reflection off of part of the Zenith Star.

Lovely watch but don’t like polished centre links and adjustments on the clasp
They could have done better on those... I agree!
I just noticed that when the small subsecond hit 10s position the running hand have not reach the tenth yet... Or my eyes are failing me?
Depends on the angle the camera filmed the display... Yes, in some pictures it looks like, but when looking frontal on the dial I don't see that issue...
@@WatchAdvisor thanks for the clarification

The customer is spoilt for choice!!! 😉
Just my humble opinion ;)
I agree the flippers and AD's are no good for Rolex.
There is a black alligator strap available... it will be the one on which the gold version later this year will be presented...
@@WatchAdvisor white dial on the black alligator strap would be my preference. It’s classy enough to be worn as such. Thanks.
What the heck?! Now it’s getting interesting 😃
What are your first impressions?
@@WatchAdvisor : very appealing ‚face’ design, surprising and useful new features, dimensions seem to work very well (though I’d prefer a height below 13mm),
polished surfaces on the bracelet seem to have some wobbly reflections (not sure if the surface quality is comparable to the Rolex bracelet)
Further, not sure if I’d prefer the subdials all in the same color and slightly smaller (not touching) - I know it’s the characteristic El Primero Look
Overall very interesting!

Will pick the white dial as u get to appreciate the colored subdials a bit more.
Bracelet or strap? Or both? I love the combination with the two rubber straps...
I have multiple straps or bracelet for all my watches lol, make it feels like a new watch every once in a while lol
IMO, the black dial is hard to see the movement of the second hand which is black. The white dial is more legible because of the contrast of black and white.
I also prefer the white dial... in combination with both, black and blue, rubber straps...
