    I enjoy your vids.
If you scratch hard I wonder will it basically scratch back to wherever the oil based paint is and stop there?!
DIYer here I don't yet have great faith in the water based paints for ease of application, coverage, quality finish and durability. The two plusses are that they are easier to wash, but the hybrid water alkyd paints have stepped in and they are also easy to wash. And yellow less, although again the hybrid paints are supposed to be fairly good at not yellowing or at least v slow at not yellowing, or so they claim. Also I have water based trim in my house from the previous owner and so much of it has gone yellow.
I am considering a polyurethane / urethane acrylic from a local paint manufacturer here in Ireland (Castle Paints), hyrbid acrylic alkyd from Benjamin Moore Advance or an acrylic like Aqua Guard for my trim. So many choices at the moment. From what I have read Aqua Guard seems to be one of the better ones for acrylic. As does Bedic water based from what I have read, but they don't sell that in Ireland.

Thankyou very much, ihave never used the Benjamin moor, it is meant to be bullet proof. The Aqua guard system is durable,.

@@Inexteriors agree I painted with B Moore Advance in living room a few weeks ago, went on easy (wasn't runny and didn't set quick allowing me to brush up any small drips that did appear) and produced a premium glass / enamel finish. I did a lot of research on it! And it was very pricey. But worth it at least so far.
I'm in two minds whether to paint it in my v dark hallway and bedrooms don't know will it yellow, or whether I'll fork out more money and go fully acrylic which is supposedly non-yellowing even in dark rooms.
      Thanks again for vid.

Hi mate, did you paint the aqua guard directly over the Haftprimer or did you use the Aqua Guard Undercoat too, on top of the Haftprimer, before topcoat of Aqua Guard?

You'll always be up against the weakest layer / bond. Having spent years on the brushes I love the common theme between us all that we still have to experiment. 😄 Good test done here... and yeagh.. id be happy to use that product.

Grip primer? I'd never heard of it before but I can't see the point of it in this circumstance; even if painting over oil-based paint with water-based primer then surely all you need to do is flat the surface with sand paper and you're good to go? Afterall, that's the purpose of the primer isn't it?

To be fair i have only heard of the grip primer a little while ago, i have always sanded undercoated then 2 top coats, it has always been good.
