WallieB26 - I thought I saw Channel Boogaloo in the intro, I remember they were only there a few months ago. This was the last Super K-Mart left wasn’t it?
Bitter-sweet vid. The coup de gras for Sears Holdings, Kmart, Land's End, etc., was and is: Eddie Lampert He runs ESL Investments he is by-no-means an entrepreneur, nor is his expertise even close to running a retail empire. He bought Sears, Kmart, Land's End, etc., years ago which he continues to run into the ground; however, truth-be-told some of the companies he bought were in decline, but not so close to failing as they are today. They still had a fighting chance, but with Eddie at the helm their future is very, very bleak unfortunately. Ramblings of an old fart and entrepreneur.
I want to thank you for making this video. I worked at Kmart for 4 years. I closed the Austintown store and then came to the Super K to help them close. It is a real pleasure to see someone who actually cares about a store closing and the employees instead of the normal "you deserve to lose your job" kind of people. Thank you for doing your best to keep all of these store's memories on your channel. I really appreciate it and I'm sure all of my fellow co-workers feel the same. Keep it up.
Great (but sad) Video! It's harder for me as a kid of the '70s and '80s... because everything I grew up with is rapidly disappearing! Malls, Arcades, Video rental stores, eat in Pizza places...and your favorite stores you grew up with. It might not be so sad if something better was coming in to take their place, but there isn't. Now Toys R Us is going away... I'm scared to see what is what in 10 years!!
10 years time: everywhere u go only residential zones and some limited amounts of foodie places as well as no shopping outlets and only online 🛒🛍️🛒🛍️🛍️🛒
This brought back a lot of memories of our Super Kmart in Illinois. We only had it for 10 years, 1993-2003 but it brought a lot of new business to the community. I got my first job there when I was 16. It was open 24 hours there so we'd go any time, just to go. That Deli and that window design was exactly the same as ours.
Absolutely amazing video. Just so heartbreaking to see the end of these iconic stores! Love the emotion attached to these videos also. You are a rockstar my friend...thank you for posting this! ☺
You know how to capture the mood on that last day at the Super KMart. Great choices of music, it would be the score if they did a movie on the demise of Kmart/Sears. The humor touches like the fitting room selfies really helped with the meloncholy mood. Your You Tube comrades are family and you all work together to pay proper tribute to this store. And for me nice to see the cameo by the Wierdo at the beginning :)
I really enjoyed this store. Especially when it it was open 24 hours. I spent countless nights wondering this store. Just to get away from life. Being only 5 miles from me. It was easy to get to. Its sad to see it ago. Accounting the Parkman rd store closed. But now the Sears in the Eastwood mall is going to be the last standing sears corp store in the mahoning valley. Also the letters. The front sign by the road was painted over the morning of April 9th and the store letters were gone April 10th. I did write a letter to Joe bell of the cafaro corperation to see if anyone is planing to take over this property. I have yet to hear back. But I think it will be the Eastwood mall is very good on filling up all there stores. But thanks for the walk through Wallie. I couldn't make it. But I really wanted to meet you.
I cried the entire 22:07. Even before seeing the title. And Wallie, don't ever say you're gonna die. I need you and love you. You're the reason of living for me. -Ben Edit: Wallie, how do I send you my address for the autograph?
My late father, Arnold H. Bachner, was on the Board of Directors of K-Mart, and he was Chairman of the Board and CEO of K-Mart's most profitable division, K-Mart Apparel, until his retirement in 1985. At that time, K-Mart was the second largest retail chain in the world, and they were making billions. When he retired, my father warned the Board that their real estate policies, corruption involving real estate, and their attempt to sell higher fashion clothes to working people while neglecting their basic products would ruin the company. He also warned the Board that their stores and technology were antiquated. Finally, he told them their customer service was declining rapidly. Sadly, he was absolutely right.
There are no more Kmart or Sears stores in Green Bay. Kmart East became U-Haul, while Kmart West was demolished for the Packers Titletown District. The Sears store at Green Bay Plaza just recently closed.
I remember the closing of the Hudson Bay store in the little town I grew up in, it really hit the town hard, as they even delivered your stuff that you bought there in a green Mercury half ton! They had bbq chicken every weekend, had a great meat counter, plus nice stuff for Christmas! You could even order stuff from a catalog, at the customer service, everything from appliances to furniture! Somebody from out of town bought it, then raised the prices on items in the store, plus no delivery! It went out of business, wonder why?
Very sad but a great tribute to all of those who worked at this store. I wanna say best of luck to all those employees who are gonna be moving jobs i know how diffcult of a time it is for you guys right now especially loosing your jobs. Rest in Peace Kmart Store Warren Ohio and all the other stores. You will forever be missed by all. charger master i think this location is getting a meijer as meijer bought the property/building so i dont think their gonna be demolishing it probably will just need a lot of work
I had not walked into a Kmart for 20 years until last Friday. There is one still standing in my old neighborhood. So we drove up for 25 minutes and walked in. Brought back so many childhood memories. My parent were poor immigrants. I never ever got clothes from fancy department stores. Mom made my clothes and for back to school she always bought my back to school clothes, back pack, and school supplies from Kmart. One time I was really sick and she was there buying me medicine and bought me a Barbie from there. (All the times before I'd beg for toys and she never could because every last penny was accounted for bills and groceries. They never had credit cards) That was the only time I got a toy "just because". She had done some extra work tailoring clothes and decided to splurge because I was sick. Kmart signifies the tough times we had, but it got us through when we were in a pinch. So yes, when I walked through the store last week I was choking up inside from the rush of memories that just started flowing through my brain. Good memories and bad. With the retail apocalypse that's happening, it seems like every year the world I know is dying one store at a time.
My closest Super K went out last year and the hometown K Mart died last week. So sad to see them go. It was always a relief to be able to shop somewhere without fighting the Walmart crowd. I'm going to miss that.
Oh my god! I'm obsessed with Kmart. I visited 10 in southern California. Two have already closed. They're from like another dimension because it makes me wonder how they've survived this long. They're just there waiting patiently for their closing. I hate to say that because I do like shopping there and the only store I buy clothes from.
Still bummed this place is gone. I’ve spent many a days shopping here and many tipsy nights walking around before going home!! Thanks for doing this video right!!
Kmart really failed when it came to these Super Kmart stores, I honestly believe more locations would have been able to compete with stores such as Walmart and now Meijer if they had converted to this Super Center concept. Most "Big" Kmart stores had/have grocery stores or former grocery stores next door where they could have expanded. I used to buy a lot of food items from Kmart and still do when I make it over to the Clio Michigan Kmart just north of Flint which is the only store left within 30 miles of my home. Thank you for documenting these stores in your awesome videos despite how depressing it is for me, almost feel as if my childhood is dying.
My local store in Gresham, Oregon closed last Black Friday weekend 2018. There’s a auto repair shop and furniture store attached to the building. I noticed the repair shop closed. I assume the furniture store isn’t to far behind. 6-19-19
Man the music made this video that much more depressing. I gotta see if there's any regular Kmart's still open here in Illinois. My local Kmart closed quite a few years ago, and now it's a Dunam's, Planet Fitness, Cricket, Harbor Freight, and Salvation Army.

Cooldrummer Sorry for your loss with Kmart , But at least there is Target , Walmart, and many more stores that you could go to. I grew up with Kmart also too. And i enjoyed it when I was younger. Rip Kmart.
Watched this again after Richard Wolf returned to do an update on the store a year later. Had to stop because, once again, You had me crying, again. DAMN YOU WALLIE!!! HE HEHEE Richard's video that he world premiered tongith was awesome and I hope he could continue a video study of how the store transitions (think he said a Meijer is supposedly taking over.) You really know how to put out powerful, poignant and sincere content. KNow I'm repeating myself but it's true man.
Thanks for the vid bro K Mart will be sadly missed it wasnt just a store in someway as an 80s kid it was more than that. I remember riding the quarter ride in front of the store then go eat in the cafeteria and when the bluelight special happened watchin the lil old ladies w their carts headin for the deals. I visited Sears and Radioshack now KMart on their last day and soon Toys R Us truelly an end of an era!😥
It’s certainly a weird site to see a store in its final hours but with online shopping becoming more and more preferred it’s becoming more and more common by the day
Luv the mournful muzac in the background ours down here in FL is closing also first Sears and now our Kmart how much worse can it get the only thing left is Walmart yuk or Target or Big Lots but I'll miss Kmart soooooo much.
I still have my Kmart bike. Was sad to see only 1 bike left. Really sad because my family always used to shop at Super K and later Big K when our local one closed.

i just came across your video..this is so sad. i worked for Bonton stores at an elder beerman location that closed last month..it is so sad. its all the end of an era
I have family from there and I've never once been in that Kmart. Not sure if I should be sad about that, or perhaps I'm just one of many people that not only doesn't care much to go to any store, but when I do it's definatly not a Kmart. Great video though. I wanted to make it up there to see this place before it closed but never did. That's why I went looking for a video on it for the last day it was open. Thank you.
End of an era indeed. But hey at least it was an awesome day for ya, hanging out with some of your best buddies. Those last 3 grills in the garden center should have been a last call bbq lol😂😂😂😂 and the fitting room mirror, technically it can be called the infinite mirror, lol.😀 Thanks for posting!
Our former Kmart was designed like this, when was built was a Super K (Super Kmart) until they closed off the grocery area with curtin type walls then was changed to Big Kmart. I'm like you guys when I shopped at Knart I'd peek through which could see the deli counter & ect when store was closing you see the rest of store where the grocery area was. This is why I find these videos interesting.
The Kmart in the video wasn't the last one . Our Super Kmart just closed two weeks ago. It was privately owned which they said kept it open longer. I used to buy most of my groceries there. It also until recently had a bank, beauty salon, portrait studio, and a Little Ceasers pizza. Pharmacy too. But for some reason they closed the automotive garage years ago. Things changed when Walmart came to town. It seems like everyone in Chillicothe ( Ohio ) thinks they have to shop there even thou we have other malls. Don't undestand it ???? I'll miss Kmart. ( it closed 11/--/2018 ). ----Tim C
I wish someone had done something like this for the Eau Claire, WI K Mart. Closed 2-3 years ago. At one time (1980s), it was the anchor store for the entire city. Now gone
I need to get me one of those Attention Kmart Shoppers shirts (I need the one with the cat and cucumber on it 😂)- asked for one for Christmas a few years ago, my mom apparently looked, but I never got one (despite upon first seeing those, before i expressed the want- that they reminded her of me). A great video as always. Like I've said before, it's always awesome to know I'm not a lone Kmart enthusiast weirdo- and in a large part your videos, and my own memories inspire me to really document the decline of American retail, or capture the memories on camera while I can. Being at a closing Kmart is almost like going to a funeral... no matter how many you go to, it's always sad and a different vibe, ya know? Really wish the Super K concept was able to last longer... If I could I'd probably do all my shopping at Kmart. I really dislike shopping at Walmart and Target. It's enjoyable to shop at Kmart. Thank you, and thank you to the other Kmart enthusiasts who may read this comment, for being ridiculously awesome.
yes it is sad that Kmart and even sears went down the drain,,,, those were my go to stores for almost everything ...probably poor management .no not store management but the higher up people thanks for this video look forward to many more videos
Did they have any Kmart binders to buy? When the last Super K in the Detroit area closed, I spotted a Kmart binder that was $1, on my way out. I had already bought some stuff, so I left without it. I regret not picking it up, though I did snag a pic of it. I made up for this blunder though, when Sears Canada closed. I stopped by the Sears CA at Devonshire Mall in Windsor, and grabbed a Sears binder that was on some random shelf. Small victories.
All the Super Kmart stores in Australia were decommissioned back during 1991-1994, they did this by building a wall in the middle splitting the Super Kmart's into two separate independent stores with the department store side becoming a normal Kmart store and the grocery store side becoming a Coles supermarket. To this very day most of Australia's ex-Super Kmart's are still operating as independent Kmart and Coles stores, some have been heavily refurbished since the split and you wouldn't know they were an ex-Super Kmart while some still show signs of being a ex-Super Kmart. I live in Western Australia and all the ex-Super Kmart's in this state are all still operating as Kmart and Coles which are: Mandurah (South of Perth), Mirrabooka (North of Perth), Kalgoorlie (Eastern Regional) and Karratha (Northern Regional). I grew up in Mandurah and remember the opening of the Super Kmart there in 1983 and the nine years it operated before it was split during 1992. My first job was a casual employee at Kmart Mandurah in 1996 and the only areas that the Kmart and Coles employees jointly used were the huge staff lunch room, toilets, locker/change rooms which were all located up stairs, everything else had been fully split with dividing walls (back offices, stock rooms, loading docks etc) Kmart is currently Australia's number one discount department store business turning over huge profits due to a massive restructure and change in business model over the last 10 years which was proved very successful, it competes directly with Big W and Target. Coles is also a very successful grocery supermarket which competes with Woolworths, Aldi and IGA.
@@mattburt5698 that's interesting. I didnt realise we had super kmarts in the past. Our local kmart has a coles right next door to it and when watching other super Kmart videos I had thought to myself that we kinda have the same thing but spread over 2 shops so it totally makes sense now.

There's one in Bridgeview (79th and Harlem), one in Steger, and one in Chicago (by the Addison Blue Line stop).
Des plaines
From what I'm seeing the layout exactly like the former Kmart here in Lubbock.
How much was the blue light that's awesome seeing that reminds mange of my childhood
The blue light went out thank you Kmart for all the precious memories every Christmas we would go there and look I really will miss k art stores
Been missing your videos dude. Good to see a new one, well new to me anyway. Great job on this Wallie.
Man, this is really sad. I grew up with Kmart. They were huge when I shopped around. It will always have a special place in my heart.
Cooldrummer Sorry for your loss with Kmart , But at least there is Target , Walmart, and many more stores that you could go to. I grew up with Kmart also too. And i enjoyed it when I was younger. Rip Kmart.
I love love your channel!!! I just found it today!
Watched this again after Richard Wolf returned to do an update on the store a year later. Had to stop because, once again, You had me crying, again. DAMN YOU WALLIE!!! HE HEHEE
Richard's video that he world premiered tongith was awesome and I hope he could continue a video study of how the store transitions (think he said a Meijer is supposedly taking over.)
You really know how to put out powerful, poignant and sincere content.
It’s certainly a weird site to see a store in its final hours but with online shopping becoming more and more preferred it’s becoming more and more common by the day
Its crazy how much that Super K looked just like the one in Uniontown, PA.
I have bed pants that are over 14yrs old (2003 Christmas) from Kmart.
I miss this place. Favorite job so far I was working the last day of closing. ( second to the right in the group photo at the end)
R.I.P. Warren Super K-mart.

Was that electrical buzzing coming from the super kmart center sign?
Your a real Kmart trooper...they should put you on the payroll

Eventually there will be no more in-store shopping stores , it will be on line shopping only. We are changing as the times are changing too. R l P old school society .
Yes Luis- I think its awful- I love GOING shopping. Congrats online shoppers- thanks for crashing a lifestyle & jobs for many. WTF
This place is so cool never had a chance to go to one
"Look at the front, where it says Ames real big". That is cool and I know what's up right after that...always something cool.
You hand bit piano music that remind me of one of my favourite horror movies. Hey but thats good. You got the feeling!
I remember when they built it...such a great store, shopped there often...will miss it.
i just came across your video..this is so sad. i worked for Bonton stores at an elder beerman location that closed last month..it is so sad. its all the end of an era
I remember when you recorded the Uniontown Kmart this one has the same layout as the one in Uniontown did except the cafe
As a kid who grew up with Kmart I miss Kmart
I have family from there and I've never once been in that Kmart. Not sure if I should be sad about that, or perhaps I'm just one of many people that not only doesn't care much to go to any store, but when I do it's definatly not a Kmart. Great video though. I wanted to make it up there to see this place before it closed but never did. That's why I went looking for a video on it for the last day it was open. Thank you.
Thank you, Wallie.
The blood pressure thing also gets screwed up by things like, idk, holding your phone up above your head while it's running lol, talking, moving...
I live in Niles and what baffles me about this K Mart is that even in the 2000's it already looked super outdated.
Wallie I drive by there yesterday, and it looks so sad. I will make a video soon of the now abandoned super kmart
Subbed. Please do.
Damn bro awesome video I gonna miss places like that and the memories
Another great video wallie!👍

I wish someone had done something like this for the Eau Claire, WI K Mart. Closed 2-3 years ago. At one time (1980s), it was the anchor store for the entire city. Now gone
I would have grabbed one of those propane grills.
There are two K Marts left in our area, if we hear that they are ending you can film them also.
For me seeing this is like a part of my childhood going away so sad.
Well see you in retailer heaven, as well as circuit city, ames, rolling acres mall and many more, but for now. Goodbye kmart.😭
Awesome video great picture at the end but super sad to say bye to kmart
Man I grew up with this kmart, this is very sad
Love Kmart and enjoy watching your videos
A picture showed up for a split second at 9:04
Kmart in somers point NJ is the newest Kmart in the country. And the song wish you were here would be perfect in the background
Very touching video :) I cried some
Amazing video wallie im a big fan
yes it is sad that Kmart and even sears went down the drain,,,, those were my go to stores for almost everything ...probably poor management .no not store management but the higher up people thanks for this video look forward to many more videos
Rip super k mart we will miss you so much this is depressing
Did they have any Kmart binders to buy? When the last Super K in the Detroit area closed, I spotted a Kmart binder that was $1, on my way out. I had already bought some stuff, so I left without it. I regret not picking it up, though I did snag a pic of it.
I made up for this blunder though, when Sears Canada closed. I stopped by the Sears CA at Devonshire Mall in Windsor, and grabbed a Sears binder that was on some random shelf. Small victories.
the fact that it's been 6 years from that day to this 😭😭😭
I know how sad this is. There are no more Super Kmart's in the WHOLE WORLD! :'(
maybe Australia
there is Kmart here in Australia and its BOOMING here.
LOL!!! YES!!! Great music choices man, two good channels for this kind of music are Whitesand, and The Offical Nights Amore.
Thank you for introducing me to Whitesand! I love their music selection!
I just started listening to The Official Nights Amore.
WallieB26 So awesome man I have used a ton of his music and I back him on patreon, I figure it’s the least I can do because I’ve used so much of his music LOL, In fact I have a video posting about a closing Goodwill I think tomorrow or Sunday and I use a song of his
im so sorry k mart Alen Dzinic :(
If I had to guess, Kmart has maybe another 18 months to live. This was a great video.
Sh*t...it pains me to think that. I'm at Kmart almost everyday.
Rest in peace Kmart I'll miss you
I'll stay tuned to Kmart Radio"Don't want to mis another sale. KMRT,!!!!!
Always sad to see an out of order restroom.
