Sup guy, my friends have been talking about you for a hot year now and raved at how strong you are. I recently started watching you and I really appreaciate that not only are you stacked, but you are very knowledgable and use other first hand experience to deliver very easy to digest info. Thanks for the great content.
A common one but you don't train per day you train per block and having "the unreal pump" workout that destroys you mentally and physically will heavily affect your next workouts.
That split works if you do 3 days on, 1 day off just because of the carryover of Triceps to chest. As long as you can continue to progress and not get too fatigued you’re good
Funny thing though. All these tips apply to strength training. Example. If you do more body english to lift the weight, did you really get stronger then? Or did you just cheat more than Before?
Super solid video and advice, particularly the last part about having fun. Look at the old clips of Arnold and his friends training. They trained hard af but were always joking around in between.
Back When you had only one sleeve done did you notice less vascularity in that arm compared to other? One year after I got mine done I noticed less vascularity in that arm
Interesting the full ROM. From a hypertrophy standpoint a lot of natural champions picked a range of motion through which they felt constant tension. And based on the results they got, they stuck with that. Jason Gallant has a lot of vids advocating such. Although older now, his physique is still pretty impressive and he is a lifetime natural, not a juicer like Mike.
Agreed, I think its ymmv on all lifts, gotta find what works best for you as an individual. For example, I bench and take it to 95% lockout cause my front delta and triceps take over at the top. Bicep curls I take to like 90% at the bottom to keep tension, tricep work is full lockout every time..and I switch it up every once in a while, sometimes I'll focus on full ROM for a split other times I'll do partials, it's what has worked best for me.
I wonder if you could get in on Brian Shaw's Strongman competition out in Colorado? I think I also learned maybe from watching you and Dr Mike that increasing frequency will yield results
Hey Coach, speaking of RoM, can you expand on the concept of "effective RoM"? I have heard from experienced body builders and strength athletes that RoM is too often generalized and it can differ wildly from person to person. What would be the best methodology to find your own effective RoM?
Joey you have made me switch from strength to hypertrophy for the rest of the year to put on some more size. Loving the content and the pump. Started your 6 day program because the two a days make being out in the heat more bearable.
Definitely back you and the RP crew on ROM and control. Focusing on full and consistent range and actually using the muscle to move the weight has done wonders for me and the pumps are SO much better.
How do u optimise recovery for muscles when training with a high frequency? I know the clearest option is to spread the muscle groups out as much as possible but sometimes its hard to help hitting the same thing within a short period of time and I feel like my muscles are still drained. I know you said in the video that you hit shoulders 4x a week, is this like a full workout or certain exercises that you focus on like OHP?
A tip that definitely helped was understanding how adaptive/resilient certain body parts are and adapting rep ranges/frequency to them (like how a bicep can't take as much work as your calves for example)
Excellent content J! In general I liked hearing the things you picked up from RP. It’s interesting to see what you really took away from that partnership. Also like the part at the end about having fun, i need to incorporate that more if I can
Partials? Yeah, Mike obsessively talks about full ROM, only many people can't do full ROM. I can't do ATG squats. My hip structure doesn't allow it. I can't even do traditional DL either. I'm not the only one.
I have a very weird goal... I want to be able to press, squat, hipthrust, clean & jerk, snatch, bent over row and deadlift at least 100kg... For at least 1 rep... Right now i can squat it and hipthrust it... I wonder what type of body i will have when i manage to do it 💜 I mean, its not hypertrophy focused, but i bet it will have a clear effect on my body...
@@patrickmcdonagh539 nop, ive been training on and off for about 15 years... But im mainly a martial artist... And since most people arround me weights less than 100kg, being able to move arround that much weight is my goal... I domt need to be able to move much more than that
@@gingercore69 you have been training for 15 years but can't deadlift 100kg? A 100kg press is way harder to achieve than a 100kg deadlift.. And if you want a real carryover to your martial Arts You should aim to lift a good bit over what your opponents weigh because they might weigh the same as the weights but the weights don't fight back
@@patrickmcdonagh539 i can throw a guy who weights 150kg over my head with a clean throw, but cant lift 150kg over head... My training has always being focused on muscular endurance... My back muscles are small and genetically speaking they dont seem to react to well to training... My legs however, are among the thickest at the gym... My glutes too... My arms also do not react too well to training... I train my whole body the same, but my legs seem to grow and get stronger much faster than the rest of my body... The fact that when i was 17 years old my whole body weight would go between 37 and 47 kg depending on the season and i would still be fighting both mem and women much heavier than me means that the fighting back problem is not something i worry abiut too much... However, ive been told by my sanda instructor(a type of kick boxing with throws) that doing more strength training would help me...

Shouls we progress on week to week on our compound movements or is it also applies for isolation movement?

Tip 1a: Use steroids.
came here when Mike said this is probably better than his. I love his honesty

The style of this video is a step up from your previous ones. Looking huge Joe. Thanks!
Thanks man, working on it!! Better audio and video :)
what is your training program like for Szat mode? your arms look twice the size as normal.

Brilliant tips, thanks for putting this together.

Not sure about learning bodybuilding from powerlifters/strongman. Think about it.
Powerlifters and strongmen need dedicated hypertrophy cycles to increase their strength potential
