Those tall chef hats are so cringey. They are basically saying: "look at me, I am important."
I thought he was talking about the taple hats those were so cute
Reminds me of the short-arse chef in Ratatouille
You are a dolt!
Being a Chef is a mark of distinction in a restaurant. The whole point of the hat and apron is to distinguish the chefs from the store front employees like the host/hostess and servers. If you think amchef isn't an integral part of a restaurant, youve missed the point entirely 😂 they should be distinguishable.
Well, the head chef IS important. The issue is more with underqualified cooks sticking a chef's hat on themselves when they haven't legitimately earned it.
"Chappy’s closed in June 2013 because the Chappy’s restaurant was seized by the state of Tennessee for failure to pay taxes." Chappy didn't even get his shit together at the end anyway, had to rely on the stand in chef to finish off for him so the place would've shut down anyhow. Chappy's a knob.
Thank you for this
Tax evasion
Based
On June 18, 2013, Chappy closed the restaurant with no warning. Five years later dozens of workers are still owed thousands of dollars but Chappy has simply left town. And with the building now coming down, it's more than certain that's money those employees will never see.
Yeah you could tell this place was fucked from that dinner service alone.
Oh gee. What a suprise.
I love Gordon's interactions with the wait staff in this series. The way he makes them laugh, values their input, has them sample the food, and tells them exactly what they already know about the food but are powerless to change. It must feel so liberating to these people who have to hear this stuff from customers constantly.
I always think this lol
“I’m not gonna say this in front of your staff,.. you’re a joke… food was disgusting“ Gordon is the most savage chef of all time.
He's only savage for the cameras, he's a really nice, decent guy...
The fact you got *your* and *you’re* correct twice in a RUclips comment is amazing to me! Crazy the amount of dumb people there are online!
Only savage when he needs to be. He's certainly not like that with everyone.

@@LifeOfFandomsno one cares. Random and weird.
@@RichelleWit’s not even that serious. No need to be rude
The fact the servers are way more respectful to a man who says “fuck off” every five minutes then their bosses says a lot.
It's cause Gordon knows how to command respect. Nobody follows or puts much effort into something when they think it'll fail anyway, but when you have a leader with a proven track record, and you know that following them will lead to success, you'll just say "yes sir" and do what you're told.
Respect is to be or not given yes I will be nice to my boss I will do what my boss says and at the end of the day he signs my paycheck but I will not respect my boss just because he's my boss just like I will not respect police officers just because their police officers respect is or not given even though I don't much care for shift Ramsay he earns respect the guy in the tall Halloween costume of a chef uniform is nothing but a joke if you can handle your employees speaking their own opinion you're nothing more than a little boy playing Dress up
theres a reason Gordon being famous and received tons of respect from people despite how bad attitude he given to them. thats he being himself and offer people who needs help despite the fact that how rude he could be. when it comes to business you cant just pamper your employees when they repeat a single simple mistake, especially in hospitality industry where your first and top priority are the business and customer.
yes I started reading these comments but my intentions was to definately address Gordon'' foul choice of words. I understand his anger and disgust but please Gordon tone it down with the cursing. I find it offensive.

I feel sad for his wife, she backs him 100% and gets nothing in return. They both knew customers didn't like his food and Gordon handed success to them on a silver plate, yet his ego is so big he couldn't even save his restaurant for his wife, let alone his staff that was about to get unemployed. Seems like he tried to open several restaurants after this one which got closed down, and he owes his previous staff months of salaries
I feel bad for her too. That face is utterly disturbing!
I can't feel bad for her. She said she's tried to get him to change and knows he needs to change and then when Gordon is showing him everything he's doing wrong so he can fix it, she's making excuses for him. She hasn't tried either and both are responsible for the restaurant dying

@@Jessespresso I don't even feel like she made that many excuses, she was probably telling the truth about the taste complaints when they opened up. A lot of these shows are staged so don't fully believe everything
wow, he saw what people said about his restaurant on the street and he still went back to the old food when GR left!?!?!?! That is next level stubborn
Ah, it's something very few other owners/chefs do. Not surprised tbh.
Yeah apparently back in 2013 his restaurant shut down for good for tax evasion and he ended up skipping Town leaving his employees without their final paychecks
It kinda makes sense though. When the owner is the head chef, it's about THEIR food. If the owner is like many others on this show where they just bought it on a whim, it makes more sense to be okay to switch up the food, since there was never a real commitment to the recipes to begin with.

Its called NPD Narcissistic Personality Disorder. This chef would rather sabotage his business, and the livilihood of those who work for him, to make it look like his business failed because of things out of his control. The idea of his wife being impressed with a new menu, his staff embracing it, customers loving it, counts for nothing with those who suffer NPD.
In life we all make silly and stupid decisions and can freely say it, but people with NPD are too sensitive to criticism and take it personally, so advice causes resentment beyond belief and so they avoid it and do the opposite, because to admit they were failing, is personal humiliation.
@@BelfastManUtdTherapy Yep, a narcissist’s greatest fear is the reality that they’re not perfect and that they’re often the problem. Someday, Chappy's gonna end up alone. And he's going to have nobody to blame for that but himself.
As a chef, when I work I always fear that our kitchen gets that bad. So I always get picky about cleaning and quality control..
Yup, I have been there. I let go and everything went to hell. We were understaffed (not saying this as an excuse it was all my fault) and I let it go because I was burned out. In a matter of months whole kitchen was laughing behind my back, servers too, kitchen was a mess, food was not up to standard etc. Until one day my girlfriend showed up, got in the kitchen said hi and left. After service she was waiting for me to get home, looked me straight in the eyes and told me "that kitchen looked like a public toilet in a bad neighborhood, this is not who you are." Didn't sleep all night not only because I was sad and miserable, but because I was waiting for the next day to come, I wanted so bad the sun to rise up have a coffee and go to the restaurant and be a real cook. Changed it all in one day and never went back to be that chef. So yeah, be as picky as you want, never settle for anything that is lower than your standards. You do that one day and another one and oh, never mind, one more I am tired and you slowly drift off course and you don't even know it.

I really think that Chappy just gave up, I mean they've opened a business in 1984 and it only got brought down to its knees by a Hurricane that leveled an entire city. It's hard to come back from something like that. It's good that Chef Ramsay highlights the filth and disgusting culinary practices that go on in some of these restaurants. Imagine how the clientele would have reacted if they'd seen the state of that cooler, in all honesty I almost vomited when I saw what was uncovered,.
I kind of empathise with chappy, the restaurant he had with his mom got distroyed in hurricane katrina, a really traumatic event, and now he had to change something that made him feel connected to before everything went to §h!t. He was trying to hold on to a past that comforted him and felt like home
but it's kind of like japan in the 1800s. They had to modernise so they were not overrun buy the west..
If you want to survive sometimes you have to adapt.
It is SO disrespectful when they just take everything Gordon gives them and as soon as he is gone, they just say "fuck it", he's wrong and everything they got, was money and time wasted. Why ask for help, if you're not gonna take it anyway??

Chappys closed after a month after the episode aired due to not paying their taxes in june 2013. Chappy later tried to open Chappys Bisto in Mississippi in November 2013, but that too closed in October 2014. Though luck, or rather just a skill issue

I feel like it’s way too much of a coincidence that a pescatarian customer just so happened to be in the restaurant as Ramsay was worrying about there being one.
She’s definitely an actor, but at least it’ll get the point across to Chappie!
It’s what I thought
I mean, I bet Gordon invites people he knows from the area to come into these places with all sorts of dietary conditions because he has that kind of reach. Especially in Nashville, a very populated city, it isn't too much of a stretch to imagine a pescatarian coming in, especially to a cajun resturaunt. I'd assume the show would have these customers coming in know if they have any allergies or dietary conditions.
Tldr: I don't think she's an actor, but is someone who was brought in to be "the pescatarian" just to judge the resturaunts food safety standards.
Shows like this are mostly scripted ...still fun to watch but not true
chappy seems like the kind of chef gordon would've replaced immediately if not for being the namesake.
Why do people keep calling Gordon to help them with their business if they don't wanna hear his critique? 😅

I think this is an example of the customer is always right - obviously, before they moved the restaurant was working, but now it doesn't. Instead of adapting the food to the market, they stuck with it and then had to reduce quality, reduce staff, and pre-cook food. None of that happens overnight but builds up over time. The customer is always right - if they don't like your food/service/decor then they won't continue with you.
customer is never right
They were only in their new restaurant two years and apparently doing well beforehand, which seems to suggest everything has happened in those two years which is weird.
@@willrichards32 yeah very strange. I guess with a lot of restaurants on the show it’s a downward spiral - dry spell causes them to cheap out and/or freeze food in bulk to cost save, which reduces the quality of the food, and less people come, so they’ve got to keep reducing the cost of the food or increase prices. On top of that it burns out the owners and they either lose their competent chefs or they become just as disengaged. It’s always sad when you analyse it like that imo

Hate it when chefs say that the customer is an idiot and therefore he won't change. Yes, the customer could be an idiot but guess what, that idiot pays for your roof so sometimes you got to suck it up and make it up to them. Having verbal feedback is crucial because most customers don't complain to the chef or write an online complaint, they simply don't come back.

Steve harvey's was killing it💪🤣
I thought that waiter looked like him 😂😂I'm glad I seen this comment ❤
Chappie is so ungrateful. Gordon's team renovated his restaurant overnight & he was like I don't like it, but I'll grin & bear it & move on. No wonder he ended up closing the restaurant.
10:18 "It seems like you've hit a wall."
He got so lucky with his wife. She has such a good heart and is incredibly understanding to both Gordon and her husband. She is like the bridge.
Gordon is SUUCH a good businessman. He’s monetized the tv series he’s worked in and already been paid for. He saw that this was where people were making money today and gone for it. I’m so impressed
I knew he was beyond saving the moment he said his food is excellent and that there's nothing wrong with it. You can't save someone in denial.
