This is literally the first time I’ve seen Paul Gilbert play something besides an Ibanez in the 15 years I’ve been watching him play.
Yeah back in the day(90-92 there about) he would mess with those Danelectro's but yeah although he has a cool collection (he likes the weird obscure guitars) its almost exclusively Ibanez.

Paul's the consummate EVH fan, it's so fitting to have him play this song. You can feel his joy for the music. It's kinda hard to walk away from any PG video without smiling.

Paul, you have been my favorite guitarist for years. Not because of your speed, which is very quick, or your licks, which are sweet and juicy, but because your love of music and your pure joy in playing comes through. Someone puts a guitar in your hands and that big smile immediately comes on your face. This, more than anything else, is what I strive for in music. To keep it as much fun and as full of joy as I can.

Paul made this video last year the week EVH passed. That's why he's playing the Frankie. It was his tribute.
It was a pay per view that he did and I watched it live. He nailed every EVH solo including Ice Cream Man.

Paul often says he's not a good singer but I wholeheartedly disagree. This was fantastic.
I really think that Paul has started to show his appreciation of the song in recent years. I started really digging on it around when Vibrato came out, and seeing him live there's such a love for the song, the lyrics, the story, the whole performance. And I think Paul's singing has just got better and better the more he focuses on The Song :)

Very well done! Great vocal performance on what sounded to me like a" dry" mike! I really enjoyed how the guitar note confirmed your falsetto was on the mark. Almost perfect performance on the guitar as well. The solo felt rushed but the keyboard player never looked lost and you guys stayed tight. So maybe it's just me. Nailed that solo! Great job. Very entertaining and sweet sounding to the ears.
