Exactly it was kind of dumb on Delta part to cancel the program while there were still children waiting for flights within the program already so I don’t understand why they didn’t just cancel upcoming so people cannot book under the program just to make sure that every child got to where they were going.
Its not the airlines fault of what happen with their computers regarding crowdstrike. A lot of businesses that has an affect with peoples lives that were a victims of the crowdstrike event. Hospitals, police departments, 911 call centers were victims as well. Perhaps, file lawsuits with them as well.

There was no contingency plan in place and this lead to lots of unaccompanied minors, who can be as young as 8 and unable to advocate for themselves, stuck without their guardians and with no way for their guardians to get to them or get them home. It’s not the airlines’ fault that their computers went down but it is their fault that they dropped the ball so badly on taking care of the children in their care.

Back in the late 80's early 90's when I was a child (8-12 yrs old) my stepfather was a Captain for USAir and I flew free on standby. I had to go back and forth from Florida to New Jersey to visit my parents since they were divorced. My mom used to give me a booklet that had all the flights in it and if I wasn't able to get on the connecting flight we planned on I would look in the book for the next flight. I did this all by myself without my parents or airline staff. It's really sad the way things have changed so drastically that you can't even let your children out of your eyesight now.
Today's world is the safest period of human civilization. They're escorted by airline personnel; it's not like they're completely left to fend for themselves.

I was stuck in Atlanta for 2 days. It was crazy. I was on my way to visit my long distance bf. First time traveling alone. Thankfully my amazing bf and his family drove 10 hours to come get me 😭😭 did I mention it was my first time meeting his parents? Quite the meeting 😭 I didn’t have any of my luggage and I looked like a MESS lol!!!
In NZ my sisters and I flew unaccompanied often in the school holidays to visit our grandparents. I was only 10 and my sisters younger. There were no laws against it then.
I traveled alone in the 80s. They used to let the parent walk the kids all the way up to the departure gate. And let the adult on the other end meet the kids at the arrival gate. It's no danger at all really
I'm glad the 3 of them made it back to their hometowns. I hope they had enough money for food. I also wonder where they slept while at the airport since you have too be 21+ to check into a hotel on your own.

If you're stranded at an airport for a day or two you can still go to sleep there, but it'll be uncomfortable, kind of noisy, and for many of us it's hard to sleep with the lights on. So far I've never been stranded at an airport. I hope I never experience that, but I'll make sure I'm financially prepared to make an emergency hotel payment if that does happen.
My youngest child flies on planes alone. They have been stuck in airport for hours and days. Once for a tornado that caused their plane to be delayed and once they got to the airport they were delayed again because of another tornado which then they missed their plane because they couldn't get off the plane because of the weather. They were upset and scared. I walked them through what they had to do. And they were fine. Then this year they were stuck in DC. They found out that the plane home was cancelled. They camped in the airport and ate the most expensive sandwich in their life. I couldn't believe how much they paid for one sandwich but they were safe. They were more worried about their luggage. But everything turned out fine except for that very rich person sandwich. Really it was a egg sandwich i could make at home for about a dollar but they paid over ten dollars for it. Next time I am packing her snacks for delays and cancellations. No more ten dollars sandwiches.
I think airports have overnight sleep pods. Or I'm guessing they got into contact with police who got someone from CPS to put him up in a hotel with supervision.
I flew alone, with friend 2 years older, in 1971. I was 12 years old. We flew everywhere Southwest Airlines went; Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. The stewardesses went out of their way to embarrass us. We had a lot of fun.
There should be compensation for that if Delta mistakenly didn’t tell you, or did you know what was happening? They should pay you money return policy or any other flight that you paid to get your son back or daughter from the Microsoft mistake during their data update mass confusion

I have seen teenagers travel alone, but I have never in my life seen kids travel alone these days. It's crazy for kids to fly alone. I've heard about kids going missing, being kidnapped, landing in the wrong areas and cities, and being sold into drug trafficking or cartel human trafficking operations. It's the fault of irresponsible parents. Lazy parents should pick up their kids.
