    During the winter( in Canada), I often get water in the hose. Easily corrected by placing a long sock( toe cut open) over the hose. It insulated the heated hose from the cold.

    My husband has been on CPAP for years. The first week he had it, he abandoned the humidifier because of the dripping. Then for months he would complain about his sinuses closing up while he was using it. We never heard of rainout. Nobody has ever helped him, or followed up. Now after so many years, he is used to it, but I'm going to set him up with this heated tube, since he's due for a new machine soon. Thank you!!

      My dr wanted me to use heated tubing but when I went to get it my supplier asked “ do you really want that it just blows warm to hot air” that sounded terrible so I opted for non heated. Later I said I wanted to try heated and the supplier said I can’t because I don’t have a prescription for it? My dr said that I always have had the prescription and that I’ve been charged for heated all these years when I’m not getting heated. Rather mad at the supplier for lies and not accurate information on c pap supplies when I was new and not knowing anything about it.

    I get inflammation in my sinuses a lot. I've even had to swap regular cheese for vegan 6/7 days/wk. But I still wake up at night frequently with sinus inflammation. Now because of this video, I know it's probably because I had my bi-pap humidity turned off. I also have been using some of the cheaper tubing. I'm so glad you explained about the difference in the heated tubing! More than worth a few extra $! Thank you so much for this video! Great explanation of the settings. Resmed should just hire you as the CPAP guy and pay you a million dollars a yr and be done with it! We can clearly see that those stuffy guys in the instruction videos don't even use Cpaps.

    Started CPAP 5 months ago and really got a lot of value from watching your videos. The sleepy head app helped me learn what masks were working and how my pressures and settings could be adjusted to dial in really good sleep. Tried a number of masks and finally found a couple that work great and keep my AHI below 1. CPAP supplies has also been great on getting equipment at a fair price. Appreciate all your help.

    I've been waiting since it was suggested I might have sleep apnea (on March 15th 2020) to start CPAP and the day is finally almost here. The Pandemic slowed everything down by a year, otherwise I'm sure this would be 'old hat' by now. I've been watching your vids for a whole year now & at every stage I've been so glad I have your channel to watch. It makes so many sorta boring or technical details interesting and funny even. It's nice to hear that most of the 'non-compliance' is due to easily remedied things, much of which more education could ease. I'm still nervous about it not working for me, because I really want my life back, but this 'Papper knowledge is helping. So glad to find your channel and appreciate the mixture of expertise and random goofiness. Thank you ! :)

    Thank you for all your mask reviews. Just being able to see how they work and fit on an actual human has prevented so much frustration. I am on a noninvasive ventilator 24/7 and would literally be dead in 5 minutes without it. Nasal pillows and masks allow me to eat and sleep safely and without them I would have needed a tracheostomy and feeding tube years ago.

    Lefty, I've used BiPap for 35 plus years. 25/20 with 5 L O2 Bleed. Yes, it's amazing I'm alive and not suffocated yet. over the years I thought that I had run into every problem you could imagine. Recently in a months period I have had seven defective water Chambers. They start leaking within a day or two brand-new out-of-the-box. Some of them have even been loose around the steam at the bottom but for the most part after they've been used a couple of days you can see little micro-cracks all around the seam. My machine is fairly new I took it into the provider and they're sending it for repair thinking possibly it's overheating? I got a loaner from them I applied a brand-new out-of-the-box chamber and again within 4 days it was leaking. Out of all these Chambers they have either leaked slowly or a deluge. This is the aircurve 10-unit. After going through two machines I don't think it's a problem with the machine. I have written extensively ResMedand they are completely useless when it comes to their customer service? Their only solution is for me to deal with the provider that sent me the chambers.That would be Lincare who have replced two. I would think a company like ResMed would be concerned what a patient / customer with profound sleep apnea might suffocate from their product? right now I am suffering horribly with dry cracked mouth because I'm afraid to put another humidity chamber in this machine. I have applied the end cap which I only recently found out you can purchase! I just wondered if you had heard of anything like this or any solutions you might suggest I appreciate your videos. I informed them I was going to report it to the consumer product safety division and the FDA. I never knew they were such a sorry company!

    I have tried auto settings on both humidity and temp, as well as 3-4 for humidity and a temp of 65-75...Occasionally I get so much water it gurgles, but almost daily around 430am I wake with a wet nose and water in my mask (heated tube is usually dry). My supply person told me "I must exhale extra hot air"...not very helpful! (I have tried 5 masks and happens with all of them) I love my cpap - so my solution right now is to have a second mask handy and switch in a dry one for the wet one!

    I have had the same machine for a month - GREAT machine. The ramp time of 45 min is terrible. You will be struggeling with apneas and hypopneas all the time, and over again if you restart the machine during the night, because the machine does not respond to your apneas during that time. Set at max 15 or 5 min or make your doctor turn it of, as a start, and im sure you will have better sleep just from that. An auto setup 4-20 is ok for a month, but you should download PrismaTS software and take over the control instead of running auto as doctors prescribed. Im sure you would benefit from a higher minimum pressure and a lower max pressure. If you take the time and see a lot of videos from cpapreviews and thelankylefty27 you will understand. It is easy to enter the clinical menu on the machine and change settings. I learned myself this and have a minimum of 10.5 and max set at 15. Sleep so much better now. No softpap, softstart. An ahi 1-2 from 66! My doctors would not allow me to take matters in own hands at first, but a last meeting they had NO better solution and just let me continue 😂. Btw i now use same maske, after 5-6 others.

    Ok - This is good but -> I can’t stand the heat. -> I can’t stand the heat. I would rip the mask off after getting physically overheated regularly. So my adherence was abysmal. Spoke to my doc - and he said stop using water, and turn off the humidity. I did that. I have turned off the humidifier, and my use rates improved vastly. I do sometimes suffer from inflammation in my sinuses, and your description of the sounds from my mouth is spot on. SO how can I get humidity WITHOUT heat. I’m using a Dreamstation 2.

    i like an 8 on humidity, i'd try higher if i could, especially since switching to the f30 which seems to dry people out more for some reason. i've always wished i could set the humidity to what i want, and then the temperature to auto. because auto humidity keeps the air too dry for me. and then the humidity heats my room up too much, especially if i have the temperature set high to combat rainout. putting the cpap machine lower than my bed helps a lot, and i've been covering my tube with a blanket but i saw someone say they cut the top of a long sock to cover the tube so i'll try that. because sometimes i have to take the tube out and shake the water out and get it clicked back in before the pressure stops, because sometimes my pressure doesn't go as high when the air comes on again, sometimes it dips without that though. and yes my cpap supplier troubleshooted that with me, the cpu didn't recognize it was happening, but i was adamant enough so they got me a new machine through warranty which does it much less .and i saw a cool idea that someone puts ice cubes in their chamber because they like cool air. and i would make distilled water ice cubes lol. i also run out of water in my chamber some nights and it always starts off at the max line.

    N20 = my mask, Resmed 10 + climate line tube the machine, with additional Respironics chin strap. Unfortunately Resmed's automatic settings for tube climate and temp do cause rainout to occur within my mask (have no answer for why that happens - don't know if the machine measures humidity at the mixing chamber or at the end of the climate line tube. Have since set humidity manually to level 4 with mixed results).

    • @wetrock2766

      The difference in room temperature and CPAP air temperature is the cause of the condensation. Is the room temp rather cool during the night? If the tube is heated it might be OK but the warm air hit's the cooled mask surface and condensates there. Has you mask got a vent hole for exhaled air, is it blocked when you sleep? I use manual settings on my machine.

I sometimes add 2 drops of eucalyptus oil to my water chamber and instead of removing my water reservoir I DRILLED A HOLE IN THE TOP AND USE A SMALL CORK TO PLUG IT. The reason being, because of taking it out and opening the top to fill it night after night I started to get a whistle (air leakage) which got very annoying trying to get it in just the right position so it wouldn't wake the wife. Oh, this is a science to me. I HAVE TO BE COMFORTABLE because we spend 1/3 of our life in bed, so I want to be comfortable. I dislike how hot it becomes before I fall asleep. Also I got lots of noisy water in my heated tubing if I let it get too warm which makes no sense according to what you have said here.

    Jason, any concern about humidity causing respiratory issues? Assume for a second we keep everything extremely clean so it's not a bacterial issue...im asking strictly about the humidity causing issues.
    I'm struck how much water my cpap uses each night and I wonder if that's a good thing.

    Jason: Is there some reason why changing only the tubing from the regular to the heated (Resmed Air Curve 10) would significantly change the way the pressures feel in a bi-level configuration? Thats what happened when I changed to heated. I changed no other settings. (Love the vids, man!)

    Hi Jason, I am suffering from sleep apnea for since long and using CPAP for 5 years but I always feel lethargic during the morning and don't feel energetic most of the time. I have tried to do an analysis of my CPAP data but could not reach any conclusion. I have been to many sleep specialists for getting my data analyzed but I think most of the doctors are not trained to do this. Is there something you can help me to review my sleep data and suggest the settings or my sleeping postures? I would really be very thankful to you in case you can please help me with this.

    I need help! I cannot tolerate any heat at all, I have been packing Cpap with ice but as soon as the ice melts, I wake up, also mouth and nose very dry. I wish there was a way to have humidity with out heat, but thats how science works, do you have any suggestions? I h ave to have it absolutely cool when I sleep, can stand heat around my face. Thank you!!

    • @BLenz-114
      @BLenz-114 Год назад +1

      I understand about not liking the heat, but packing with ice, while I don't doubt it makes it cooler, will actually make the air even dryer. The moisture will condense out on the cold ice.
      There are ultrasonic room humidifiers that make mist without heat. You might be able to DIY a solution with an ultrasonic humidifier and some tubing attached to your humidity chamber?
      I don't THINK there would be any danger there, but I'm not a doctor or an electrician. 😊

    • @TheRPhelps24
      @TheRPhelps24 3 года назад +2

      The instructions with my dreamstation materials said I could fully submerge the heated tubing I'm pretty sure. Just make sure the connectors are fully dry before using. I use a hurricane dryer so everything always comes out bone dry in less than an hour.
      Admittedly I don't usually submerge my heated hose (I have though), I just rinse it out thoroughly with soapy water or mask bright & water, but I'm soaking the connector and not trying to keep it dry. I'm going on 2 months with my 1st hose still and no issues. It still heats like it should.

    My mouth opens during the night and wakes me with dry throat and nostrils even with humidification,
    I’m going to try taping my mouth shut, what’s the best tape for this, I do have some wide painters tape.

    • @wetrock2766
      @wetrock2766 3 года назад +3

      Micropore from 3M, 2 inch wide (box of ten rolls on Amazon), put two four inch long strips on your mouth overlapping them plus two more diagonal 3 inch long strips in the shape of a V on either side of your nose to your chin. Wash your face because skin oils prevent a good seal. This way has fixed 85% of my problem. This tape breathes so it will let some air trough and should not irritate your skin like painters tape will. I take glue residue off in the morning with rubbing alcohol (that stings a bit also you can use the same cream mechanics use to clean their hands, it's more skin friendly than alcohol.) You can leave a tab to quickly remove the tape in an emergency, I never had a problem of the sort. This solution was found with a few months of trial and error, I'm happy to share it with you here. If someone has a better trick please let us know.

    I use a heated tube and I keep getting dry mouth. I use a full face mask. I wind up waking up in the middle over the night having to drink water. Most nights I use cpap for 4 hours and then take it off and get a couple of hours of sleep without it. I have been adjusting different settings for humidity and temperature but it just seems not to work.
