I had a therapy analysis session with you back in the summer and I am so grateful! I was given a machine with no information from my doctor or DME. I was completely on my own. I found your site and reached out to you. Now ... I sleep great every night because I followed every one of your recommendations. My apneas now range from 1-3 apneas per hour, down from 72 per hour. Many thanks!

Just found your channel and I enjoy it. I've had a CPAP for a few years. My worst problem was dry eye, and I didn't realize it was my CPAP mask. I damaged my cornea over a couple of months of this problem. Now I'm using ointment in my eye nightly and still have to do it a year later. I converted to a nasal pillow which seems to have solved it.

Thank you so much for your videos! I've had minimal help from my DME company. They seemed annoyed I call to try a different mask even though I've been very good at sticking to therapy even with being frustrated. (started in May). I changed from a N20 nasal mask to a F20 full mask because my AHI's were back up over 10 and mouth was dry. Also had my pressure raised from 9 to 11. But I still get AHI all over the place. One day 2, then 11, 4, then 10. Ugh!! And the silicone rubs like crazy.. I am hoping to save up, Jason, to have you evaluate my data (I'm out if work right now). Thank you again, you are so helpful to many

I’ve been a CPAP user for over 20 years and have seen great improvements and what is offered for us with sleep apnea. Your videos have been helpful for me to learn new things and new products. You mentioned if you have a question so here I have a view. I’m currently having to sleep on my back because of a difficult nerve issue in my lower back and leg and cannot sleep on my side in bed without pain. From what I’ve been told by my sleep doctor that that’s the worst position to choose for sleep apnea. Any comments? The next thing is my pressure has to be an increase because of sleeping on my back. I have a Phillips machine and it is right now at 18. I’m having a sleep study done in August. And I have tried several masks. I am currently using at a lower pressure so I can use a mask that fits around and under my nose and over my mouth. I have to do this because I developed a serious issue on the bridge of my nose that is taking a week and a half and still not healed. So my next question is, there has been possible suggestions I might need to go to a BiPAP. Well I have to use a full face mask with a BiPAP machine?
Well enough for my jibber jabber. Thanks for the great videos and who knows might have another question later. Thank you for reading my post

Hi Jason, Thank for your video. You were great when you looked at my sleep data. I am better. I still get a little headache and fatigue but it’s better than it was. My doctor is supposed to refer me to an on-site sleep clinic. Who knows when that will be. I have been experimenting with different things because my mouth kept coming open. The Ultimate Chin strap I was using helped but I needed more. What sent me to Jason was the fact that the last four years I’ve been a major mouth breather. I was so tired, brain fog didn’t know what was wrong with me. This is what I found is working for me. Most chin straps hurt. I have TMJ. Fixadent works heck of hard to get off. Don’t like full face masks kept leaking on me. Changed from a wisp nasal mask to a N20 airtouch nasal mask with memory foam cushion. I love it. Tape my mouth with Johnson and Johnson bandaids -water block tough strips. 20/ pkg. Cheap at target. I place one a little above the upper lip and covering part of the mouth. Overlap another one so it ends up partly below the lip. It sticks really well and comes off without hurting skin next day. Sometimes I then put a piece of clear packing tape on top of that. The clear tape does come loose.Still experimenting. I have to try the blue tape that Jason is talking about. I have a deviated septum. I am seeing really good low mask leak at this time. I use a lightweight hair cover from buffusa.com. Then I tape, then I put on the nasal mask and the last thing is what I call my mummy mask on top of the nasal mask. It is really called the ultimate chin strap made by sleepapneasolutionsinc.com. The inventor of the chinstrap has them handmade. The fabric is very soft, padded and breathable. I do not get hot in it. I find that wearing that on top of my N 20 mask keeps my mouth closed along with the tape. My sleep apnea is in the mild range. I never knew how bad the mouth breathing was for me. With my wisp mask I wore the mummy mask underneath the wisp mask and it lowered my leak.. Use tape at your own caution I am doing what works for me. It may be all you need is the Ultimate chin strap to hold your mouth closed. My leaks are way down and I am still learning to read my Cpap data. Thanks Jason!

I want device settings to be set it and forget it during the cold winter months. Tell me more about this back issue. Have gone through two full face mask and now using the nasal pillows. The chin strap feels like a medieval torture device but does help a bit for mouth air leakage.

You mentioned using dental cream when using a cpap. I wear dentures and have to use the cream to keep them in place. It’s always been difficult to remove the denture cream from my dentures. I experimented using various products. I found that a small can (7.5 fl oz)of ice cold Schweppes tonic helps to remove the dentures cream. I swish the tonic in my mouth a couple of times. It feels like the tonic desolves the dentures I’ve not tried it with gin yet LOL.

Re: the B & B mouth guard in your Amazon store: I think this could help me with several problems at once: bruxism, mouth leaks/jaw drop, and occasional dry mouth and aerophagia. GOAL: condense the thingys and gizmos I have to wear to sleep. QUESTION: Pls clarify...Will the Meister B&B mouth guard actually help keep my jaw closed and in the correct alignment and HOLD IT THERE while asleep? I'm thinking it will, because if they're molded correctly, some bite guards create suction to the teeth. TIA

So "chipmunk cheeks" and tongue placement. I wear a soft bite guard but hadn't heard of your Double-sided guard solution, but I still worry my cheeks will blow out and my "tongue will fart." I found wrapping the lower straps with padding to my full face mask helps. The other issue u touched on, air being pushed down my throat, but it stops or doesn't make it to my stomach. Remember as a kid forcing air down just far enough to belch? Well it's that same pocket. Is that past a sphincter? It builds and I have the urge to belch it up. I do sleep with my head propped forward bcz I have a deep overbite and was in track to get jaw advancement surgery in the military but was separated for chronic pain... but that really helps get my bottom jaw forward. Now if I can just stop blowing raspberries with my lips with a different guard. (Chin strap helps.)

I've had my C-PAP (Respironics Dreamstation with heated humidifier) for about 2 years. For a few months now I have been waking and sneezing. The latter lasts until mid or late afternoon. I washed my tubes and reservoir weekly and all was well. A week ago I bought a SoClean 2 machine and set it up. For a couple of days, it was wonderful. Now, I'm back to sneezing and suffering with a runny nose. To the point where my upper lip is sore from wiping and blowing my nose. I fear a sinus infection. I'm thinking about hand washing the tubes and reservoir again but on a daily basis instead of weekly. My question is, how do I go about that while still using the SoClean2 overnight? I set the machine for a 10 a.m. start with a 2.5-hour runtime. If I handwash, when should I do it? Is there any drawback to my plan? Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks Terry

I have been using CPAP since late September. I find your channel very helpful and educational. I first tried a Dreamwear full face mask as I know I mouth breathe but it felt very claustrophobic so I tried the nasal mask. Love that so much more but the mouth breathing issue remains. I am using Somnifix as I tried it before CPAP to see if it would help. Sometimes I feel like I am a hostage and it makes me feel very anxious. I also am not sure it does not loosen and perhaps allow too much exhalation. My pulmonologist says she favors nasal devices as it goes straight in as she says.
Not sure about chin straps. They tend to get poor reviews. Cervical collar is a no go due to some neck issues and the comfort issue. I just wish I did not mouth breathe ;=) I will try the denture cream and or bite plate if I can find one that does not advance the jaw. Do they all advance the jaw? I had a dentist created oral appliance that was a bust and am not a fan of jaw manipulation. I am very happy with CPAP, I feel much better with mostly removing the daytime fatigue and sleepiness and severe AM headaches. I use a Phillips Respironics with APAP and pressures are between 4 and 10. I tend to range less that 7, usually around 5. My AHIs are less than 5. But I am still feeling I am not there yet.
I installed Oscar and will see if I can make sense of what is going on. I have had some glorious days with great energy and it is like magic. But it is not as consistent as I would like. My AHI numbers are good, not sure how accurate the app that comes with the Phillips is though. I need to learn to understand OSCAR a bit so I can perhaps spot issues. As a RN, I am very interested in the data. I think if I can manage the mouth breathing I'll be all set.

Look into the Bleep Dream ...sleep? Dream system? Dream something? I forget. I was UNABLE to make it through the night with a pretty good mask -- the DreamSleep non-mask does not go IN your nares (nostrils) -- but uses medical tape to hold them (airtight) AGAINST the nares. Not thrilled with one-time use (VA won't provide them, so I buy my own; works out to ~50 cents a night -- but not more rising up in panic at 3 a.m.!) but OH! What an amazing thing! However, I don't mouth breath, but if I did, I think I'd STILL use Bleep and find a way to keep my mouth closed! (And yes-of-course: I FOUND the Bleep system, THROUGH Jason!! He did a good review a couple yrs ago... THNAK YOU JASON!!!)

Well on the third use, mine has malfunctioned. Just kind of dribbles out when you press it. I have a work around so no problem, but you had asked for input. Here is mine. And FYI we have a dishwasher liquid dispenser built into our kitchen sink that had this problem and we diluted the soap with water and all is fine. I use a full face mask, I have been a mouth breather most of my life. Off and on over the last year, I have had trouble with aerophagia, some nights it is worse than others. I can only sleep for around four hours at a time also, it has been that way for years also. I cannot use a chin strap, I find it restricts me too much, and it gets "in my head" and bothers me greatly. So I just deal with it for now, I really don't see that there is anything I can do about it. If it matters I am on a Trilogy 100. I love it and it has kept me out of the hospital, that is one of it's "selling points."

Hi Jason, thank you for your videos, they are really helpful. I’d like to ask you about one problem that is happening to me and is the “puffy eyes” in the morning. I am using a full face mask, a Resmed Airfit F30i, which is working very well from treatment point of view but I can feel the mask pressure on my nose and I am afraid it is affecting my eyes. I have no record of leaks, I am using the Dualband Chin Strap that you’ve recommended. I have tried to use a nasal mask without luck as I open my mouth during my sleep. I'm 41 and I hate that my FF Mask is stretching the skin around my mouth! It's aging me prematurely. So the obvious answer is switching to a nasal pillow mask which I have, but as I mentioned in the previous comment, I have far too many problems with mouth leakage to switch with any confidence. That double-sided moth guard idea sounds great. I've been wondering if one could be made that could stop leaking through the lips and have bruxism (&an appt coming up) so I tend to have it professionally made. Another idea I had for "chipmunk cheeks" is a full face chin strap I saw. It has A LOT going on and I'm wondering if it might pad my cheek inward naturally. Also, I've tried 3M Tape but with supply issues, the kind I found had tiny holes and layers of it still failed and they puffed like my cheeks. I did buy some denture cream but am concerned bcz I often wake up and have bouts of insomnia and don't want to deal with removing/reapplying, but am out of ideas, other than having my head tilted forward just right and licking them and air drying them a bit to paste them together... that'll at least help me get to sleep, but isn't an all night solution. I'll probably try the denture cream, lol.

If you decide to buy yourself an adjustable bed, it is worth paying a bit more if you can afford it, to get one that has a rail not only on the foot of the bed but on the sides as well so that the mattress will not slip sideways when the bed is moved up and down.
I had a big problem with this until I eventually found a solution that works for my bed.
I went to the hardware store and bought myself a strong strap which is about 1 inch wide or 2.5 cm.
I put it 40 cm, about 17 inches, from the head of my bed and taped the mattress to the base.
This is the perfect position for it. I had originally planned to put a strap on the top and the bottom but was advised by a friend who is an engineer that this would put too much strain on the bed.
Unfortunately, most beds don't have rails on the sides, and the ones that do, cost a lot more.
Quite apart from sleep apnoea, adjustable beds are wonderful, wonderful things for most people, especially senior citizens who have all sorts of health problems that make it difficult for them to sleep on their side

I've actually been having issues since I got my new machine about two months ago. I turned the humidity all the way up thinking I'd get rain out and that didn't even happen. I've set it on auto and still wake up dry. Not the normal dry morning mouth but the painfully dry morning mouth where it feels like you've been in the desert all day ... I actually live in the desert and it doesn't get this dry in the summer when I'm outside lol. Should I switch to my old machine? Some mornings my machine still has the same amount of water that I started with also.
The company I go through isn't helpful or seem to care as long as insurance is paying for it. I just want good sleep again and not being miserable when I wake up.

In the past few months, my CPAP mask is causing a sore in the rear folds of one ear, I’m guessing the mask headgear is causing the ear to rub against itself. If there were some type of soft felt like ear covers, that might help, I haven’t seen anything so far that might work. It’s also odd, because I’ve used this same type of mask (AirFit F30) for over four years without there being an issue of this kind.
