I remember discovering this song and playing it on repeat back to back while stuck in traffic on my way home from work 6 years ago. I was a totally different person back then. My life was so much better. Sadly i fell into a deep depression since covid dropped. But listening to this song and being transported back to the man i once was 6 years ago, i feel motivated to become him once more.
I remember when I first heard this song a couple days after he passed. I was going through the roughest break up of my life with my ex girl that I wanted to marry. Mac's death didnt seem real to me and I still wish it wasnt. It made me realize that year by year or album by album, I was going through similar shit to Mac and his music always helped me and moved me at the same time. For real, Mac is therapy to me. People sometimes don’t understand why I love him so much, but for those that have minds that tend to stay running all day, it’s like Mac personifies letting go of those honest thoughts no matter what. Dark, funny, optimistic I always find a piece of myself in his songs. Maybe I admire how open he was sometimes, I see that despite being tortured himself he really has had a huge impact on this world that I think people (including) myself seem to appreciate even more esp when the lesser known music comes out. It’s like hearing his diary, it’s like he’s reaching out from the other side reminding us that things will be alright, breathe, stay in the moment, try to actually live your life, and the value in helping others through your struggles. Mac Miller music is seriously underrated lyrically and musically. His word play was S-Tier with layers of complexity and you can just vibe out to it without even getting hung up or worrying about how technical the word play is. If you just want to vibe to it you can chill and it's really good chill music and if you want to get into it alone by yourself and memorize or study the lyrics you can run it back on repeat and connect the dots. It's a mark of a great artist to be able to make something complex seem so simple and to take obscure topics and present them in a way that anyone with an open mind can understand.

Dude for real, that’s something I’ve always loved about him. You could tell from early on. As far as the drug abuse goes, I think he might have had a problem not just with that but escapism. I know I’ve had that over the years and it’s hard to remind yourself not to get too lost in that. But I mean you think like he had the money to do that all the time. Who’s to say I wouldn’t be the same if I was in his shoes?
