Wow! I am just in awe of all the beautiful places you go to fly your beautiful birds. I was so glad you put the words in to let us know when Dave spotted Vicky! And I just adore how Bondi and Capri are together. Awesome video as always :)
I lost my Quaker once. I used a whistle when I hand-fed him as a baby. he kept trying to fly back to me but didn't know how to land on me and was forced to fly really far away in another tree. I finally lost him all together and couldn't hear him or see him anymore. Every 30 minutes or so I would go out my front door and blow the whistle. 5 hours later he was in my neighbor's tree calling for me. It was 5 hours of devastation and being choked up and ready to cry. I'm so grateful, and fortunate to have my imugi back!
I lost my cockatiel once. He wasn’t good at flying, in fact he didn’t even have his flight feathers, he just glided through the wind. It was the scariest moment in my life. We looked for about 6 hours, asking to go in neighbors backyards, and looking on houses and on the ground. I went home to make posters, and my mom walks in the door with the bird in her hands. He was hiding in a bush, sitting in the grass by my neighbors house. My mom said he didn’t seem to care and was even nipping at her hands because he didn’t like the way she was holding him 😂 I was so relieved. I will never take him outside again! God forbid a hawk or cat got to him.
gosh. the title made my eyes tear up. i remember when i had my tiel outside with me and he also got caught in a strong wind. i heard him screaming as he was being swept away from me and couldnt out of the current. i found him the next day 1/3rd of a mile from my house but those 19 hours were so hard, especially night time. glad she made it back and everyone is ok
Such a beautiful place to get to go to🤗💖 i was worried for a minute when vickie couldn't be spotted 😳 so glad she made it back safely with all that wind!! 💖💖👍
My heart jumped into my throat for this video. I thought you guys had lost Vicky! Thank goodness she made her way back. Keep up the awesome videos. They help me with my African Grey, though I admittedly am scared to free fly her. I'm too afraid to lose her.
So beautiful to see them free fly in such beautiful surroundings! We don’t have that kind of nature here in Europe. I hope to see that in real live one day.
What a great demonstration as to why training/bonding is so important, rather than people just letting their birds out to fly! I’ve actually got a “secret” rescue bird who I trained for outdoor recall. I didn’t feel right keeping him indoors seeing that he’s a wild bird who was found by little kids and unreleasable by the time I rescued him from them.. But I had this same thing happen before and the training really shows! One time he even got let outside in a snow storm. We didn’t realize my dad let him out for at least an hour, then called forever and nothing. He must have been out playing in the woods but then instead of flying away he found a crack in our grill, squeezed in, and slept there till he heard me come outside! He heard my voice and started screaming like crazy and came right out to me :) So if anyone ever asks, your training works on birds besides parrots too 😉
Omgggg guyssss.. This is GORGEOUS GORGEOUS! Wot a perfect place, and a perfect day.. With rainbow 🌈 chickens flying high in the perfect sky! 😍 🐦 🐥 🐥 🐤 🐥 🐥 🐦
I'm so glad you got her back. Wow I would've been so worried about her. The love of a bird is so special. I love my small flock of Pearlie Cockatiel, Peach Faced Lovebird, and Blue Fronted Amazon. I love my feathered kids.
So awesome to see those birds fly! I saw your video of Bandits ashes being spread in your backyard and it made me remember the day my 35 yr old goffin cockatoo died back in ‘04. She (Gabby girl) belonged to a long time family friend and they got to old to care for her so they gave her to me. I had her for 9 yrs and I went to uncover her cage as I did every morning and she was lying in her cage dead. I was devastated!
Capri is such a trooper. I think it's so cute how Bondi has taken to her and seems to really enjoy hanging out with her. I love it down there around Moab it is gorgeous!
First of all, the title of this vid made me panic...until I read the info below. Second, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but Capri is like a mini-adult when she is with the birds working with them. She is so incredibly patient and gentle with them at her age that I am just in awe of it. You know a child has some fantastic parents to be able to have her mimic how them on how to work with these majestic creatures. Just adorable!
Awe thank you. We try really hard to teach her as much as we can about the birds and their behavior without discouraging her at the same time, as it can be difficult.
Jamie, I read the title and was sick. I don't think I took a breathe during the video, waiting for Vickie to fly away. I am so glad to know that while she had to work hard you didn't lose her. She is such a good girl, so good with your daughter. I love that she rolled over on Command, so cute. Thanks again for taking the time to meet me after the incredible show at Union Middle School.
Mark Houberg-Lawton it was actually our galah Bondi with my daughter and rolling over - Vicky is our client’s bird who had to make those major flight efforts! And she screams her name 🤣 great meeting you!
Ahhh, I am so glad Vicki made it back. The title made my stomach drop. That roll over trick Bondi does is so cute. I have a Bare Eyed and she will play dead. I have to giggle a bit, a bird laying on their back isn't something you see everyday. I love that your birds are able to do what they are designed to do - fly. Do all of your birds fly free? Is it easier to train a 2nd to return because the first help teach? I envy the ability to fly above those silly humans AKA us. We have 3 birds, 2 rescues that honored us by choosing us, and our 3rd was actually our first bird and we purchased her before we really knew about birds. I wish we could teach them to free fly, but I would be so scared that they would fly away. :)
It is especially moving to see these birds flying gracefully over this great landscape. I do have a question -- is there any concern that some sort of eagle/hawk might find your birds a threat and try to attack them? Thanks.
Chuck Olessker when flying birds in a flock it’s less likely and in this area we are pretty familiar with locations and it’s very low predator for us, which is why we like it.
Vicky really loves your daughter! Glad you got her back. That is always my greatest fear.I only had one bird get away, Copernicus my first lovebird. She rode everywhere with me since she was still being handled. She got spooked one time when she was about 10 yrs old. She flew to the neighbor's yard. She would not respond when called. Fortunately, she did not like anybody playing with her toys. I played with her toys until she made apex. That way we could locate her and bring her to safety. That one incident scared me off letting my birds outside: I have a lot smaller birds than the macaws.
WOW, Before Vicki took off that last time i thought by lookin at vid she was getting tired. I glad she powered thru and made it back but i was worried for a min, lol.
Amazing location and even more amazing the control you have over your parrots. Would loved to have been there to see that first hand. What treats is everyone feeding the parrots??
Best clickbait ever! (Scared me half to death though!!) Beautiful footage. I have a question that has nothing to do with this but maybe a future Q & A...Do you have any advice for people with other pets interested in a bird. Assume these are responsible pet owners with 2 healthy and happy cats asking the question (and assume owners and cats both beautiful and fabulous lol), but its really a more general question. I am very interested in a Galah but I have cats. For the health and well being of everyone I assumed I may have to wait a few years before a bird, but I see Ninja playing with Bandit (bandit torturing Ninja, honestly lol) and how did you do that? How did you keep a cat from being a cat without keeping them constantly separated (which to me is not a happy person/animal home-we all share space at the same time at some point). Much appreciated if you could share your thoughts at some point. Love to all of you - especially Comet's feet!
Something that helped was raising Ninja as a kitten around Bondi, our galah. Once Ninja learned the bird could hurt her, she had serious respect for them. But it's a super hard subject because every animal is so different, and now Ninja is too old to care, haha.
@@BirdTricks yes, i realized it was a silly question that requires knowledge of the animals at hand. And obviously the fastest way any animal learns what another is capable of is something physical which scary to watch as their people who love them. My sons both said same thing but as they suspect I plan to replace them (and their rooms) with a bird as they abandon me (or grow up,whatever you call it),they have been overly encouraging to get a kitten and a bird at the same time but that's not fair to a rescue pet of either species right off the bat. I tend to be spontaneous so the fact i am thinking of this 2 or 3 years in advance is impressive lol. Just know that any bird/other animal advice you offer, even as a throwaway, i will be paying attention to. I did see you said that Diesel moved to your folks home - did that have anything to do with bird issues or just your travel in general - if not too nosy. We all know kitties handle time alone bit better than doggies do, but I was concerned it was a bird issue. Thank you for time in answering! Please tell Stormy he has a lady in Bucks County,PA madly in love with him - tell comets feet the same lol. You could do merch with his foot prints "Still there!"
@@kerryshauntedhouse3414 Diesel was fully travel related. We got a 3 year gig on a cruise ship where we were only having 4 weeks off per year and they were all in a row so he went to my folks at the same time they had just lost their own shepherd so it was good timing for everyone. However, Ninja has been all over and has stayed with friends, my grandma and is now with my folks as well (they just lost their cat during having Ninja there so that somehow also worked out.) honestly, I wouldn't get any other types of animals again with having birds. They just don't mix well and it puts the birds at more risk. I met someone who rescues foxes and I was like ahhhhh soooo cuteeee I want one... they eat birds so not gonna happen! But yeah, birds aren't really compatible with much ;)
Man do I love this channel, I have had an obsession with birds for a while now. And I really want one of my own. When I can I was planning on possibly getting a cockatiel due to it being a good starter bird. And I know the most about them due to research. I was wondering if it is possible to train a cockatiel to fly. Because when I eventually can get a bird I don’t want to have to clip its wings and would love if it was trained. And I must say this is a great channel for people who want to get into bird training. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful thing with us!
BirdTricks thanks for replying to me good to know! Thank you for making such amazing videos. Keep up the fantastic work! I really enjoy the content and I’m also learning a lot and enjoying just the passion I see from you. We really need more people like you in the world. Bless you ❤️
I just love watching your free flight videos ...I am just in awe. I have never seen it before watching your videos. Infact I've never heard of it. Whenever I have seen Galahs get out of the cage, coming back voluntarily just didn't happen. However I do wonder if my little guy comes back on the odd occasion because every now and again just one Galah perches itself on the back fence. He only stays for 30 seconds or so and the flies off to join the rest of them. I can't get out of bed these days to go and call him but it seems odd that only one bird of the flock stops.
Gawd, this is so beautiful. Watching them soar and go under the arch of the rock. The scenery is beautiful. I think it would be hard to find a more open and beautiful place for them to fly. I do have one question, do you ever read comments and respond to people. I'm new to this channel and so far I haven't noticed any replies from you guys. It would be nice to have you comment on some of them so we know you care about what "fans" have to say. Btw, jinx has the most beautiful blush. My mom told me only the males blush. Was she correct, or do you know of any females that blush?
Jinx blushes A LOT, it's not really something I've ever looked into but I would think both the males and females can do it. And yes, I reply, usually just when there's a question or something really stands out as funny, otherwise I usually just thumbs up and love comments. I try to respond to most but my notifications seem to give up on me after 9 and just make me go to my videos to scroll new ones instead! However, challenge accepted with finding a prettier place to fly them ;)
Born to fly..They cannot be healthy without it . No way no way. .imagine the kind of rush that is for the bird to soar and dive and see. Denying that to a bird is criminal.
These are beautiful videis of these birds flyinng freely and returning to their human family. I have a question, can birds pick up a virus while flying in the open and do they get body lice or fleas? If so how is it treated or can they catch the rodent respitory virus from other animal droppings?? I was curious because many people kiss their birds mouths or share food from beak to human mouth. I appreciate the beautiful videos and the work you put into carrying for your pets. Thank you...
Its nice to see your bird didn't get lost! I have a Galah too, his name is Rasberry! But my family calls him Ras or Rasy for simplicity. I can't really do what you guys do since I live in New Jersey in the suburbs near the ocean. And I'm waaay to scared to do that with him(coughcoughandimonlyfifteencoughcough). He's still a new addition in the family since hes only been here for like a couple of months now. But I've tried to hold him once, but he bit me :(. He doesn't do that when my mom holds him so I was really shocked. And now.....I'm kinda to scared to hold him again 😥😥 Every time I try to I get a god damn PTSD attack and retract my arm. And to make it worse Every time I take away my arm he tries to bite it! Have any advice?
I used to let people take photos with my birds, and birds get agitated easy if you pull your arm away because they can't trust it so I'd always hold people's arms to make it secure for my bird. I think my newest course would help you the most honestly, it's here; www.familyfriendlyparrot.com
Such a beautiful video. I love seeing those gorgeous wings flying free. One question, though...Aren't you worried about the possibility of a hawk or falcon attack on one of your babies?
gondorbunny They check the areas thoroughly before flying, also if they do see anything they call them back right away. I’ve seen in one of her other older videos their little flock actually chased away a bigger wild bird.
Normally 1-2 times per year. Though I'd like to start venturing out to new locations as we've been coming back time and time again for about 10 years now.
shanique joe our macaws contact call while flying - there are also two other macaws in this video that don’t and fly fairly quietly but mine are NOT quiet flyers. When they join the flights they let EVERYONE know about it 🤣
Hey I have three baby galahs that I am raising up and have been since the hatched they are about two and a half months old should I split them up so they get more attached to me and so that the are more focused on tricks ? Will they still be fine if I leave them together? Would love your option
Some A~…~Hole always has to give a thumbs down, why do this to someone who has taken time to share their life’s work?? Just leave if you don’t like it but a little kindness and gratitude goes a long way ~~ remember karma will slap you in the …………
I think those downvotes are from bots. Unfortunately, that's a thing, yes. There is no video on the entire RUclips that hasn't at least a couple of down votes. So I wouldn't take those personal. We all know this was a fantastic video 💜
It's probably one of those "don't keep birds as pets" types. Or, someone who wants to visit Utah, but hasn't been able to. Those rock formations are amazing.
I have a question how hard is it to find a white and blue macaw I can’t find any anywhere in the US just outside the US but I’m afraid they might be scams
Awww I got clickbated. Glad there bird just went out of sight and that you didn’t need to have a search and rescue for losing the parrot. The last video I watched was a RUclipsr who you said you didn’t want to free fly with because she had losing my bird during a free flight as the title and you didn’t want a fly off. Lol who knew almost a year prior that you had the same clickbate title as someone you were lecturing (for lack of a better word). But all in all I’m glad everyone birds were safe and that you didn’t have any fly offs.
idek how u guys do this, even if i thought my babe of a quaker how to free fly and still come back, id have an instant of regret and anxiety every time she would fly off, like omg how do yall keep ur anxiety to a minimum???????????????
It seems that way now because you haven't been through the training - even when I went through the training with Patty and Morgan, Patty didn't feel scared at all when it came time to go outside because she had been through this whole long process of training and had that foundation to stand on with it. Your perspective changes when you put in all the work we do leading up to this!

I was wondering if it is possible to train a cockatiel to fly. Because when I eventually can get a bird I don’t want to have to clip its wings and would love if it was trained. And I must say this is a great channel for people who want to get into bird training. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful thing with us!
Katie F yes definitely - cockatiels are usually not fans of hands so make sure to focus on that aspect when teaching flight.
BirdTricks thanks for replying to me good to know! Thank you for making such amazing videos. Keep up the fantastic work! I really enjoy the content and I’m also learning a lot and enjoying just the passion I see from you. We really need more people like you in the world. Bless you ❤️
i have a full on anxiety attack when people starting yelling out Vicky's name
However, challenge accepted with finding a prettier place to fly them ;)
very nice video again :)
Thanks!
I love these videos. But can you turn the music down just a notch? It fits well with the video but I also want to hear their calls. Its soo cutee
Yes I can try to do that for future videos
@@BirdTricks thanks!
Wow This is fun
Oh I luv Aviation!#
My first thought watching this, predator birds looking for lunch.
Thank you...
i love birds and animals oh god :P
Theyre all wonderful b ut I kinda have a little soft spot for Vicky.
😍
The only thing I would be worried about the free flying in a place like be the Hawks
How high is too high for a parrot to fly?
How often do you bring the birds to that place?
Normally 1-2 times per year. Though I'd like to start venturing out to new locations as we've been coming back time and time again for about 10 years now.
👌🐦🐦🐦🐦👏👏👏👏👏😎
how do free flight events work??
Jamie/Dave are your macaws loud? They seem so quiet I know not all macaws are the same just curious
I mean they're LOUD in person. Not so much their little squawks tho.
shanique joe our macaws contact call while flying - there are also two other macaws in this video that don’t and fly fairly quietly but mine are NOT quiet flyers.
Nash tonkin where did u get them.
It would be fin if you tried to strap like a go pro to one of them :D
How do you teach them not to just fly of in general when your outside walking?
Maybe their finger slipped lol. And down vote bots?! That’s messed up! There are videos without down votes, they also don’t have views though. lol
(I have videos without down votes but they only have like 40 views lol)
Anna M agree totally 🙏
So scary when there so high
@BirdTricks
Have you ever lost a bird by flying away forever?
OpenGL4ever no, and we hope to never experience that 🙏🏻
I have a question how hard is it to find a white and blue macaw I can’t find any anywhere in the US just outside the US but I’m afraid they might be scams
Very rare
I have not seen any and I wouldn't trust those - they're probably scams. Be careful.

Didn’t loose her though like at all...... still great video though
And how do you teach recall and not land in a bush lol
idek how u guys do this, even if i thought my babe of a quaker how to free fly and still come back, id have an instant of regret and anxiety every time she would fly off, like omg how do yall keep ur anxiety to a minimum???????????????
It seems that way now because you haven't been through the training - even when I went through the training with Patty and Morgan, Patty didn't feel scared at all when it came time to go outside because she had been through this whole long process of training and had that foundation to stand on with it. Your perspective changes when you put in all the work we do leading up to this!
