- Zelena is a young macaw at the natural fledging age for teaching flight. Her owners Krystal and Michael contacted me after devouring all the information from my website and on my parrot training courses and have been - to date - the easiest students to coach on freeflight. Krystal's background in dog training (which she does for a living!) helped greatly in her overall understanding of training concepts.

It is crazy to me that birds actually have to "learn" how to fly with the wind etc. Never knew. Kudos and much respect to you and Dave how you think through their first flights to guarantee success and teach them what they need to know. And thx for the videos!! Just love to watch the bigger birds fly. I have many hawks and much wind where I live. Always a pleasure to just watch them fly.

I just watched some else's bird video, where they don't treat step up as a trick, they just treated it as if every bird should know what sticking their hand in front of them means step up. It was so frustrating to watch! And they fed the birds seeds as a meal. Thank you for your education!
Im SO GLAD Dave mentioned that Older birds could learn to free fly as well!! I saw Jaime do it with Morgan and people have a hard time believing me! Love you guys, thank you for all you do for the birds. I hope Caroline gets a hold of you...she could really use the help.

So happy for Zelana and her family. Able to have the opportunity to enjoy flying free - kudos to her humans for the all the hard work to get her there.
I haven't had any pets since my children grew up, but I totally enjoy watching Bird Tricks and the training, the flying and the cuteness of your birds. If I ever get another pet, it will be a parrot.

This was absolutely amazing!! This is definitely a goal for my bird. That first exploratory had my heart in my throat...I was happy to see Zelena experience that but I could only imagine what was going through Krystal's mind (like yea have fun but please come back lol).
The lengths you guys go to- to ensure the location is safe is pretty epic!! I wish I had a free flight community where I live so I can do this. I don't even know of safe places in my country to do this :'( . One day I would probably be able to bring my bird to America to train and free fly with you guys.

Hi Guys. Great video. I found you through a consultation video you did with Mikey and Mia's human mummy and daddy. I'm too old and have mobility issues to have a bird of any sort. I just watch the wonderful videos. The birds are just joyous to watch. Thank you for helping others give their birds the life they should lead in captivity. This is the first flight training video I have watched. Zelena was amazing to watch. This is the first time I've seen Comet and he is a beautiful bird. Bondi is sweet too.

Sometimes I live vicariously through you bird owners since my life doesn't allow the commitment of a bird and sometimes I just live vicariously through your birds. Watching them fly my heart soars along with them. I wish I was a bird!

Hi jamie and dave first of all nice location, nice editing and nice background video... You told to guess but im bad at guessing so continue to watch video.. Zelena really love to fly and went up and above really matched superstar comet and bondi... Even though bondi was small still manage to fly against the wind and reach the destination.. More important comet became expert in teaching.. I think by using comet it made zelena have some confidence and desire to prove and finally achieved the required target within two days...cheers to all of you specially bubbly boy comet...

The new intro and overall choice of music really suits this channel. :) Zelena is so cute. Her little "screams" just before landing are freaking adorable! And I love seeing more of Comet. He is such a cute fluffy macaw. Looking forward to the next video.

She is a Bombay and she is 1 1/2 years old my husband and I were actually looking into taking her to training class’s. I like to let my pet cockatiel watch this. He can't fly because his wing was broke some time before I rescued him, but he loves watching other birds fly around while flapping his wings to emulate.

I am binge watching like all of your stuff lol only found your videos not too long ago. I don't have a birdie, I had a little beautiful blue parakeet I believe that's what she was but I was little and got her from a pet shop and I don't think she was very healthy..they didn't give us the right direction. This was about 14 years ago..wish I would have known what I do now, and that's just from watching your stuff!! Also I absolutely LOVE your sweater (cardigan) at the end..I had leggings that pattern and colors and loved them lol.
Since you've have so much experience with free flights, and since you've worked with her in the batting cage, I think that Zelena will cooperate just fine.

Love watching them go through their process of learning while I learn more about them vicariously though your channel. Don't have a bird and don't have any plans to get one anytime soon but if I ever get the opportunity I'll have a lot of good insight and tips from you two (plus). You two are awesome! Also, I think this was the perfect experience for Comet because he got a chance to be the "big, experienced one" and really build his confidence Hopefully his wonderful progress with flying continues!

Hmm.. I'm just now getting around to watching this so.. I'm going to agree with Dave this time. Since she IS so young, and with the birds I've seen y'all work with, the younger ones seem more willing to take a risk sooner (like every young thing lol) than the older birds in your videos. Lol I'm a month late seeing this, but it's still fun.
From what I have seen so far I sense a great connection between Zelena and Krystal. So I used my pendulum for the answer and feel it will be straight to the free flight.

I have no birds, just a cat. But love binge watching these videos every night!! Well tonight I fell asleep while watching and dreamt I was free flying my own bird. It was damn cool. Lol
I had a dream two nights ago that I was free flying my african gray and a hawk was right behind her. She evaded the hawk though thankfully. When I was a kid I had a pigeon and one day I was walking down to its coop to put it away and a hawk swooped down 20’ in front of me and grabbed my pigeon. I happened to have a pair of wire cutters in my hand and immediately threw them in front of the hawk. It must have startled it because it dropped my pigeon. I immediately ran to check on my pigeon and aside from being startled she was fine.
