I’ve heard this song a million times, even know the words, but I couldn’t have told you the singer’s name to save my life. I put some of the blame on the DJs of my local radio stations as they rarely announced the song title let alone the artist, but it’s partly my fault too because I was never curious enough to find out who she was. Amazing voice. She should have been a mega-star!

It charts the rise of Chess Records, featuring artists like Muddy Waters, Etta James, (played by Beyonce), Chuck Berry, Howling Wolf and other great musicians at the time. This is straight straightforward soul, with no antics or acrobats she sings it so effortlessly giving the song the emotion & feeling that just captivates and mesmerizes you making you pay attention to her hurt & painful lyrics & music played & sung as if it was made in heaven, you can't fight the feeling that you are losing your composure when she floats into those high notes caressing you and puts you slowly back on your feet. This is my definition of soul that is done with so much feeling you have to pay attention. Kudos this lady.
