  • After the Fall of Strossner, Paraguay transformed into a democratic state as Presidential and Constitutional Assembly elections went into full swing in the early 1990s. However the Colorados Party remained in power even after the Strossner regime fell, and with a political crisis involving Oviedo lead to discontent with the central government. The Chore Band began conducting attacks against Government forces and Ranch villas. The group would go on to become the Paraguayan People's Army and trigger the Communist Insurgency in Paraguay.

It would be fascinating if you did a similar video on the insurgency in Peru, it has yet to be mapped and continues to this day.

Tbh most likely because it isn't a major war. Only 120 or so people have died I assume the map is based off of where the insurgents attack so it is not a map of control but of presence

@@jordanquimby854 Actually, it is largely control, but the regions their controlling are just patches of forest; the insurgents do have stationary camps in most these areas.

@@The_Copper_Element_Itself I would not call it a protest crisis. It is definitely an armed insurgency/conflict. The insurgents have stationary camps in the jungles, and frequently attack military bases, how would you call that a "Protest Crisis".
