The 45mm, 60mm, and 75mm lenses are all AMAZING! I love the 60mm and how it feels on my camera- also very versatile! I call the 75mm the "mighty 75"- absolutely superb lens!
The 75mm is truly something else right? It's combo of size, weight, and field of view is unique and a lot of fun. And so sharp! The 45mm is so impressive for just how affordable and tiny it is. The the 60mm is a wonderful macro lens, and yeah quite versatile!
@@TakashiYoshida Bird detection, 100% AF sensor coverage, faster sensor&AF and better focus accuracy especially in the situations when there is a background. I was impressed about OM-1 ability to keep a bird in focus when it is a background with similar color as the bird. I did not had an E-M1X but I know how the focus worked on the previous generation of cameras. I used E-M1 MK II for 6 years, mainly wildlife. In the situations when E-M1 Mk II cannot handle or struggle, OM-1 handles it easy. What has very dificult with E-M1 mk ii, now is easy. All these comments makes sense only when you do wildlife. For the rest, I guess E-M1x will be on the same level as OM-1. Do you know that previous generation of cameras had just 65% focus points coverage on sensor ? This can have a sensible impact when you track a bird in flight compared to a camera which have 100% coverage. For me is a difference, I can feel it.
@@tonigenes5816 Wow! Thanks for a detailed response. I actually own E-M1 Mk-II too and still use it when I do not want to carry E-M1X. Anyway, your response makes me think more seriously about getting OM-1 though that probably means I need to sell both E-M1 Mk-II and E-M1X. 🧐
What usually gets overlooked is the total size of a kit with several different lenses. Even in 2023 m43 has the upper hand in this regard compared to most other options. Also a pity that Pentax discontinued the Pentax Q. It would have been interesting to see what it could have done with today's sensor technology.
There is a smaller Pentax interchangeable lens camera than the Q. It is the Pentax Auto-110 produced between 1978 to 1985. It takes 110 Instamatic film. The lenses can work on your Q, but with a crop, however they work best on Micro Four Thirds because the Auto-110 has the same 2x crop as MFT. The Auto-110 is the smallest interchangeable lens camera ever made. I have one, it can be a lot of fun.
Me too, but it is an awkward focal length and there are always other lenses that have greater practical value. But one day I will bite the bullet and get the Oly 75. Meanwhile the Sigma 56 is the practical alternative.
I would replace the little used 14mm with the Lumix X PZ14-42. Good glass and mechanically better than the Ollie 14-42EZ. Because it is a pancake when closed, very handy and unobtrusive. The power zoom can be love it or hate it but easy to get used to, works well on E-M5ii, E-PL7, PEN-F besides Lumix bodies. You got rid of the Lumix 35-100 but that was not the 35-100 f/2.8 which is a very different animal, f/2.8 at 100mm is fast.
I hardly use the 14mm anyway, and I'm not much for power zooms. But for the right person that seems a good lens! Yeah the 35-100mm I had was the kit lens one, surprisingly tiny. The 35-100mm f/2.8 is a tempting prospect; much smaller than Olympus's 40-150mm f/2.8 too. If I did sport or event photography I'd probably get one!
I’ve been wanting the 12-100mm because I can’t imagine having such a versatile zoom lens. I have an E-M1 Mark III so size wouldn’t be an issue. Plus the pictures from the 12-100mm that I’ve seen from people are amazing. So sharp and love the colors so it’s become a must have for me recently. Plus the fact that it’ll give 8 stops if IBIS when paired with the E-M1 Mark III is really enticing. I’ve done 5 second hand held exposures with my non stabilized primes. Can’t imagine how it’ll be to have that combo but soon I’ll order one. I have the 12-40mm 2.8 but I think the 12-100mm will make a nice addition and I know I’ll use it a good deal because how versatile it seems to be. And I wanted to get into the Pentax Q but I can’t justify the prices of the lenses. Especially when I already own an Olympus E-300 with the Kodak CCD sensor that’s my fun old camera.
The 12-100mm truly is a spectacular do-it-all lens. I highly recommended it if it tickles your fancy! And yeah the Q is becoming more of a collectable, I was fortunate to find my kit pretty cheap.
@@TXLorenzo I tried the Oly 100-400 for some days and couldn't quite get used to its size (since size and weight was the reason why I switched to M43). At that time I already owned the Pana Leica 100-400 that I sold some weeks later just to get the Pana 100-300 II. Glad I did - losing the 300-400mm but losing another 400 or more grams of weight (at least concerning my equipment) 😀
No way, just stumbled onto your channel. E-M5 mk II and E-M1X are my current camera bodies as well! I am going to find your IG page and give you a follow.
I have my share of lenses i do not use often. Like the 7-14 2.8 is one of my least used lenses and I have thought of selling it. But I got it on trade with a guy for a 25mm 1.2 pro I had picked up for $475 With it I also have the 12-40 2.8 pro the 45 1.8 the 45 1.2 the 40-150 2.8 ( amazing lens) and the 300 f4 pro All paired with an E-M1 mark III and also have the OM-1 I can't bring myself to part with anything lol
The 7-14mm PRO is a real nice lens, quite chonky though. The main thing I'm missing in my current crop is an ultrawide, thinking maybe I'll grab a used Leica 9mm some day. I've really liked the 12-40mm PRO, but it's hard to justify with the 12-100mm PRO and my preference for long focal lengths! The 40-150mm PRO is one I'd love to own. I've tried it in store. It's amazing. If I regularly did sport or event photography maybe I'd go for it, but it's otherwise so large and expensive! Really really nice though.
I also have a 7-14mm 2.8 but find it’s difficult to get a good shot unless you have both an amazing view and very interesting foreground. I can’t bring myself to part with it either though - I’m keeping it just in case I get the perfect shot one day…
Neat! I'd been using the neck-strap as a wrist-strap for ages but it was a little annoying. It feels like this one would survive me accidentally letting go of the camera and having it dangle (fingers crossed)!
I have almost an identical kit! The E-M5 MK ii never leaves my side!
It's such a lovely camera!

Very relatable video, much overlap with my own M43 journey of buying and selling stuff.
As a bird photographer, OM-1 it's a must have.
E-M1X is a nice camera, but OM-1 is a game changer. Of course, this is true just for wildlife.
The AF improvements look excellent. I'd love an O-M1X with a built-in vertical grip. And the money to buy it haha
@Toni Genes, what makes OM-1 a game changer compared to E-M1X? I own E-M1X and I genuinely want to know what I may be missing from OM-1.

I replaced my 9-18 with the Laowa 10/2 (great without being too wide) and rather than too long 75/1.8, chose Sigma 56/1.4 (no regrets)😉

The 45mm lens? Thx
45mm f/1.8 absolutely. For ~200 AUD used it's unmatched in value.
