I went all in and part exed the last of my Nikon gear for the 150-400 when it came out. So you would think I would have a handle on mft by now, yet I'm still learning how to get the best out of it. Hopefully it will be a slightly lower megapixel count than GH6,and have a stacked sensor with PDAF. It wouldn’t matter to me if it only had a 22.5 megapixel sensor as long as it’s not 20 megapixel sensor preferably it would be 24 megapixel stacked sensor, I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the G9II will have in improvements. So I went with what I knew worked. I'm glad you are having more success with your OM-1 than I had with mine.
You are right that Sony has the best AF in the business. Funnily enough I moved from Sony to Olympus 3 years ago. Sony cameras have the best b&w JPEGs of any system.
Nice video! i own a OM-D EM10 mark iii, i'm happy with it but i'm struggling to find a remote shutter for astrophotography, seems to be the only camera that can't have it 🙄
All you need is a remote intervalometer that has a 2.5mm jack. There are plenty that have them. They might not list Olympus but if they use a 2.5mm jack it will work.
I think there are some photographers out there I want to see and all new OM-2 with 34 megapixels of resolution and be able to shoot an 8K. I think they should bring it to professional camera body’s such as OM-1 mark II low light beast for micro 4/3 and OM-2 as a high-resolution camera for micro 4/3 users. Do you think OM systems should consider making such cameras in the future for their users.
I would love to see both but its up to Sony on if it will happen. It sucks that they have a monopoly on image sensors. It has made the entire market go stagnant.
I think it is inevitable that as technology goes the sensors improve. But who knows how long it will take or what it will cost. OM has a target price point, so if they can make a camera that can do this for $3000 USD, I am sure they will. Maybe not with the OM-2, but eventually. They do a lot of very incremental changes.
I totally agree with you about Sony having the monopoly it’s very unfortunate, Toshiba just got required by JIP Which owns OM systems, hopefully in the future we will have Toshiba image sensors in OM system cameras
Would you like to see a all new OM-1 mark II with 26 megapixels of resolution and one stop low light improvement and a one stop improvement in dynamic range over the current OM-1.
I feel where the sensor is quarter the size of a full frame sensor the most they can increase over the current sensor is an extra six megapixels of resolution, without making it perform worse than the current 20 megapixel sensor that is found in the OM-1 with the days current technology, after all the OM-1 came out two years ago, and I’m hoping that technology has improved somewhat more over the last two or three years, since the current sensor came out, I do not think it’s unreasonable to expect Sony to develop a 26 megapixel stacked image sensor in 2023 with a one-stop, low light improvement and one stop dynamic range improvement over the current sensor that’s in the OM-1 right now.
100% have been always thinking why are people advocating large sensors as the way to go when I was thinking its more about pixel density and noise floor. I use so-called planetary cameras for most of my astrophotography and after watching your video of achromat telescopes with narrowband filters - that’s my preferred setup.
That simplistic thinking infected cinema for a while. DPs were saying that VistaVision was going to be the new standard. NOPE. Never happened. S35 is a terrific format, especially for digital. I'd love to see OMS develop a 4/3 cinema camera.
nice to know someone who's been using the same gear a long time ... at least you can get everything out of the system you're using... I am now in the state of trying to adapt to a bigger scope ... learn about it's modus operandi and hoping to cope with it's quirks as matched to my existing gear ... I know it's not the ideal setup... but am learning so much more than just having another 3-4k thrown at it ... OTOH ... I'd love the simplicity of just having that sum and splashing it on the system and at least know that it's supposed to work 😅
Big glass is wonderful but it's a lot more work. Last night I was putting up the newtonian and after 30min of fiddling with it I had to put it away and let the other two smaller rigs run.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel on the last night I had it out the freaking mount was playing dumb and reverted the Dec direction... after about 45 minutes I gave up ... switch from com 3 to com 5 in ascom drivers etc ... reboot ... nothing dude ... still SNAFU ... forget about platesolving and all ... so ... bagged it and went to bed ... it happens...
Ah Contax. I had such high hopes for their entry into digital. I had coveted the Contax RTS III and Contax Zeiss lenses, but I was already using Nikon F4s bodies which I really really loved. I, too, hate the term "Full Frame". It's meaningless. I use the full frame of any format I shoot. Just say "35mm format". Even that is a little misleading because 35mm is the width of the film stock - it has nothing to do with the measurements of the image. But it's a better term than "Full Frame"! Ugh. Be well, Ben!
Hi Ben. Kevin here. True, the 4/3-sensor fits all image circles. But, that’s not good enough for me. I have to use flats using a full-frame sensor (industry standard nomenclature). If I want less, I crop. Cropping does require you have plenty of pixels. I do. I don’t like to throw data away before I begin.
7:35 man smartphones use AI to enhance and sharpen a picture. Its a lie not what phone optic and sensor can do. But its a very nice lie and we love it. 🤷♂️
Oh, I think the Nikon data is bogus. The photo is a bad photo. I had a D750 once. I know I can make a sharp image with the D750 for goodness sake. The comparison is faulty. Love ya buddy.
Thanks. It's mainly the fault of the lens in this scenario. The camera could do better but it was not used correctly and with the aperture set that small it ruined the images.

Nice video! i own a OM-D EM10 mark iii, i'm happy with it but i'm struggling to find a remote shutter for astrophotography, seems to be the only camera that can't have it 🙄
Can you use your phone with the Image Share app? I'm sure it's possible with that model.
@@Biosynchro you can but for long exposures over 60s you need to keep a finger on a button 🤣
@@boh782 Ah. Of course.
All you need is a remote intervalometer that has a 2.5mm jack. There are plenty that have them. They might not list Olympus but if they use a 2.5mm jack it will work.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel the mark iii doesn't have a 2.5mm jack
I think there are some photographers out there I want to see and all new OM-2 with 34 megapixels of resolution and be able to shoot an 8K.
I think they should bring it to professional camera body’s such as OM-1 mark II low light beast for micro 4/3 and
OM-2 as a high-resolution camera for micro 4/3 users.
I totally agree with you about Sony having the monopoly it’s very unfortunate,
Toshiba just got required by JIP
Which owns OM systems, hopefully in the future we will have Toshiba image sensors in OM system cameras
Would you like to see a all new OM-1 mark II with 26 megapixels of resolution and one stop low light improvement and a one stop improvement in dynamic range over the current OM-1.
For astro I would be happy with the same number of pixels or even less but yes for terrestrial 26 would be nice.
@@anthony-qm3pn If they put Starivus 2 tech into it then they could easily do that.
I'd love to see OMS develop a 4/3 cinema camera.
ya they ignore cinema I think to their detriment.
Yes. Proficiency and Familiarity are essential, indivisible.
I had an OM-1 and it was great. Anyway, 4/3 cameras have better Toneh. 😉
Totally agree
nice to know someone who's been using the same gear a long time ... at least you can get everything out of the system you're using...
I had such high hopes for Contax. Shame they did not make the digital revolution.
The DOF thing is funny isnt it. Rare to hear people praise it, yet people often have issues getting subjects fully in focus.
Ya we have had AF for what 30 years now and cameras still do not do it as well as they should.
👍
Hi Ben.
Opens with "my astrophotography reason", but pulls out a "12 ft" print of a horse on a flag, what.the.....
"Handicapped" sounds right. "Stupid" for sure !
More verbal word salad. Another shamless payed brand promo.
obtw,
My astrophotography, does not include horses or, "brushstrokes".

Nice work Ben!
