Great! I bought some of this kit from Lowe’s and didn’t even know about it the track ! That explains the notches in the down brackets . Time to go back again 😅
Can you list all the items that you use in this video? I can only see linen wire shelf on home depot/lowe's which on the site says can only hold 70lbs. Thank you, if you can also include the mounting screws you used.
The top track ads vertical structural support. Screws alone could shear off under a load. I had considered only using screws on the uprights, but I knew I was going to put a lot of weight on this system. Thanks for commenting.!
Thanks for watching the video! I used the regular duty because I have used them before with no issues and as you can see with all of the weight they hold. Also it saved a ton of money!
@@MrFredsDIY Your are very welcome. I hear you about the ton of money, LOL/ when our home was built the builder used a guy that just used the usual junk to hold the wire shelves , even the bottom bracket were not in the studs, after 20+ years a 9 foot wire shelf caved, I took all the shelves in the closet down, the closet is big 9' X 7' I did that closet with all the heavy duty shelving etc and everything in the studs, I kid my wife in saying the house will fall down before any of these shelves fall, LOL , Now that I have gotten really good I am going to do a wall in the garage like you did and was going to use the heavy duty stuff again, but after seeing your video I just might go with the regular duty, again thank you for getting back to me and your answer to my question
I have the 9 volt battery stud finder,, but the one you used is simple and effective without any batteries. Cool beans.. How deep are the shelves? Can you get deeper shelves?
When l painted my new walls in my shed, l put a trim tape over my studs. There is no need for stud finding! * Note that each layer of paint requires its own tape. My one tape took out all three layers, including the drywall sealant. Instead of starting from scratch, l'm putting a wider tape over the original tape, and sealing it with a clear sealant. If anyone can think of a better solution , please let me know ASAP!
I’m pretty sure at Lowe’s and Home Depot both sell shelving that works with this system. You certainly could DIY some wood shelves for this system. Thanks for checking out the video.!
That’s a fantastic question! I would totally use the same exact method, but instead of the wood screws, I would use Tapcon screws. I would probably use these amzn.to/3Jf7kUF
does anyone know if shelving lengths are exact? For instance, I want a shelf across 3 24in spaced studs - that's 6ft. Do i need to get an 8ft shelf and cut it down for that to work with the brackets?
If 6ft are not available then yes you will have to cut them down. Both Lowes and Home Depot have the ability to cut them for you with bolt cutters. You just have to find someone in that department who wants to be helpful that day. Thanks for watching!
@@MrFredsDIY sorry if my question was confusing. 6ft'ers are available, but I'm wondering if a 6ft shelf is actually 6ft or if it's a bit over 6ft to allow room for the support bracket. If it's exactly 6ft, and so is the stud spacing, I feel like the bracket would not fully engage the wire shelf and cause issues? Maybe I'm wrong.
I just figured out how to do this in a fraction of the time and probably half the cost. Cut to length chain fence hanging from the rafters with s hooks. Would they sway. Yes. but you could put buy a flat shelf on the floor and hook the chain to it. If anything, this idea could be very fast temp shelves.

About the first horizontal rail: Given that everything is anchor to studs, It seems a bit an overkill… and for level you can use a laser level. do you think you really need it?
Harbor Freight sells these. It’s a small “chop saw” for 6” cut-off wheels. I have punished this little saw with up to 1/4” thick steel bar stock and it just keeps going!
This has nothin to do with ur video but your a horrendous driver lol u drive 20 on a 45 mph bro keep your blue truck off las vegas roads i was trynna eat my subway and u were taking forever anyways cool shelves

This shelving system can be assembled by even me A female novice!!!!! I don't even have to ask anyone for help. I like that. Thanks!!
Thanks for watching the video!
Thank you! My new 'She' shed is going to need a lot of shelves!
"She Shed"... I like that! 😃
Thank you! Now I feel confident enough to put shelves in my garage! 🤗
Can't believe you only have 5k subs, the quality is that of at least 100k.
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!

So straightforward and to the point 🙌🏻 You seriously need more subs! Such a well-done tutorial. Thanks a ton! ☺️
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much! You really helped me out with understanding the shelving!!!! It's so easy!!!
Nice video, I like the tip about drilling a hole at the studs, thanks
Great tutorial! Should've covered installing wall anchors where needed though.
Great job Fred! Very descriptive video. Keep these videos coming!
I’m glad you found some value from this video, thanks for watching!
I used Rubbermaid its same system. Its easy installation and holds weight well. the 16 inch shelf supports is what drives the cost up.
Thanks for the link to the Stud Buddy.
I love that thing! Thanks for watching!
Pretty solid. Thank you
Thanks for checking out the video!
NICELY DONE SIR!
Thanks for checking it out!
Just found your video Mr. Fred. Well done and very informative. I know it will help me and many of your viewers. Thank You for sharing.
We could all use these… Thanks bro 👍🏼😬👍🏼
Super strong!
Hi, can u do a demo on upright boards for a closet system?
Can you list all the items that you use in this video? I can only see linen wire shelf on home depot/lowe's which on the site says can only hold 70lbs. Thank you, if you can also include the mounting screws you used.
I have included a parts list in the description of the video. Thanks for watching!
Awesome very informative
What is the purpose of the hanging or top track? Can’t you just screw the vertical tracks into the wall without the hanging track?
The top track ads vertical structural support. Screws alone could shear off under a load. I had considered only using screws on the uprights, but I knew I was going to put a lot of weight on this system. Thanks for commenting.!
Any reason why you used the regular duty shelves, brackets, hang track & vertical rail and not the heavy duty ones ???
Thanks for watching the video! I used the regular duty because I have used them before with no issues and as you can see with all of the weight they hold. Also it saved a ton of money!

The shelves in the video are 16” but they also come in 12’ and 20”. Thanks for checking out the video!

Shelve load weight 👍
Can you use 12 - 14 inch wood for the shelves with the adjustable shelving system?
I’m pretty sure at Lowe’s and Home Depot both sell shelving that works with this system. You certainly could DIY some wood shelves for this system. Thanks for checking out the video.!
What did you use to cut the rail with?
That is the DRILL MASTER 5.5 Amp 6 in. Cut-Off Saw from Harbor Freight. I think with a super coupon I bought it for $29.
How can I do a desk overhang when 16in is the longest bracket
I just had a closetmaid system just fall off my garage wall.
What size screws are you using for your track?
Thanks for checking out the video! Those are 2 inch number 10 Panhead screws.
What about when your garage walls are cement?
That’s a fantastic question! I would totally use the same exact method, but instead of the wood screws, I would use Tapcon screws. I would probably use these amzn.to/3Jf7kUF

@@mattbush315 my guess is that a few inches extra on each side for overhang would be desirable.

You need more supports at the deflected areas. The allowable load is calculated based on the screw to wood allowable.
A real simple support that could lock on the front side would be too easy and reduce the weight by half and it would be movable.
At 0:47 you use a tool to cut the hang track. What is that thing?
Harbor Freight sells these. It’s a small “chop saw” for 6” cut-off wheels. I have punished this little saw with up to 1/4” thick steel bar stock and it just keeps going!
