I literally had the wire shelving system in my shopping cart, and went on RUclips to learn how I can cut it to fit my closet, and now I'm putting it all back. Thank you so much. You've saved me time and money.
I completely agree with you on the that white wire shelving. It’s closet cancer. But the closetmaid track organizer is awesome! I installed that in my master closet and I love it. I needed to be able to change my closet around as my wardrobe grew and shrank for my husband and I. Now I’m redoing my spare bedroom and my husbands closet in his office. And that also means I have extra tracks, shelves and rods for my closet. It’s going to be sweet lol.
You totally cracked me up! I LOVE how you even emptied the closet yourself and put it back. I didn't expect the end when you dressed up. I can watch comedians and not even laugh except I just discovered Fluffy and he definitely makes me laugh like I did with your video. I have a 5'x5' walk in pantry that was all wire shelving and like you said I HATE IT! It's out because I stripped my tile floors and my son replaced with a floating floor for me. He made me keep the wire shelving saying how they are still "new" (they are almost 36 years old). I'm so glad I found your video. Of course I can't use what you did for the closet but I will continue to search RUclips for more ideas. Thanks for putting a spark in my day and in my butt to keep on trying...I'm going to be 65 this year...shhhhhh! Thank you and tell your wife she has a jem!
I agree 100% with you!!! I hate wire shelving with the deepest hate ever ever ever found in my heart!!! It really is like a freaking cancer that affects most new homeowners and renters. It fails and you end up with holes on the wall, your clothes on the kitchen or wherever you have room for it while having to setup a budget to get a real closet done eventually. It is pretty much a disposable/cheap option many builders use. I freaking hate it so much.
How I wish I had seen this before I spent the money, time and energy on these horrible wire shelves. I used to just build in what was needed with plain ole wood, closet poles, etc. But my sister talked me into buying the white wire shelving. I hated installing it. However, I got a great laugh out of your video at a time that I really needed a lift. Thanks, man. Keep em coming.
I don't know where you are but you need to fix more things! Most entertaining and helpful video I have watched in forever and...I watch a lot of video's. Loved this and might actually give this a try! Thanks.
Seriously cracking me up 3 minutes in. Hitting 'like' just for the chuckles. Thank you. Also, Step 1: Declutter Clothing. Step 2: Proceed with this video.
Don't you think you should put some kind of cleat or end support at the shelf ends to prevent sagging over time? You said you're a perfectionist... its basic carpentry 101! Fully support your work! Especially with pressboard shelves ! You need to hold those sucker's in place!
Nice, but I like wire shelving. Like the new closet maid system but the container store has some nice elfa system that is more durable than the closet maid system but it's a little expensive.
Nice job. My wife wants wire shelves in the laundry room. I just have to ask. You did all that work and then used particle board, and not supporting the ends the boards with one or 2 more brackets the board will eventually sag and fail. Why not just get a piece of pine. Just a suggestion 🙃
I feel like you went back in time with brown shelving. I think white would look nicer. In any case, I just completed wire shelving and it looks nice and clean. I hope it holds up. I used many toggle bolts. But loved your video! 😂
this was very enjoyable video. do you recommend a support beam around or will this way work for overloaded closet. I have no idea what im doing so was about to get the wire closet system.
Ha! The wife just had me put 2 wire shelves in my laundry closet. It's just holding soap, bleach, cleaning supplies and light bulbs. I would never use these to hang clothes. You are hilarious!!! And keep rocking those safety glasses. (Future trade mark) Of all the tools required to do that job, I would sub the Dr. Pepper for a Mtn. Dew. Thumbs up dude. (Subscribed)
I don't have a preference. Whatever fits the supports is what I have used. I don't think Home Depot will cut those for you, however you can cut them with hand tools that are relatively inexpensive.
Missharper25 : HD does cut various sheet materials and lumber to customer spec -- and also permits in-store cutting by customers. Check with your local store.
Shelves A La Mode Adventures In Great America : You have something of Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd about you, but there are higher-end wire shelves that address some of the strength, convenience, and aesthetic issues that you hated, and a remod with these would have been a simple snap out and snap in. That said, if your exercise routine demands doing pull-ups in the closet, you did the right thing.
Thanks a ton! You should see all the holes in my closet walls from Rubbermaid back hooks that have fallen apart with age. I'm going to give this a try sooner rather than later!
GREAT! WONDERFUL! INFORMATIVE! But please, throw away those plastic hangers! Get some non-slip velvet ones and see that new closet SHINE with all the extra space and uniformity! I can't wait to watch your other videos now and use my wire shelves as a colander ;p
I'd like to SLAP the Dope that thought cheap wire shelving was a good idea. My builder installed it, and I knew I got screwed. WHY would Anyone do that? Build it right and be done with it.
Hate wire shelving and ALWAYS replaced in the 3 houses I've owned. And why are the wall mounts for these wire shelves NEVER installed into a wall stud?!?!? Those molly brackets always pull out from the wall from the weight of the clothes and items on the shelves. Gimme an old fashioned metal shelving bracket installed into a wall stud with hex bolts.
Those cheaper wire racks had no end supports at all etc no one they were bending and overloaded for that cheap of a system there are stronger sytems out.. so you put in less shelves and less clothes..
Sorry I have this wire shelving in five closets and have had it for many years -- 20+ NO PROBLEMS. Nothing has fallen apart. Two were for kid's closets - NO PROBLEMS. One was for our coat closet which got a lot of usage!! NO PROBLEMS.
@@adventuresingreatamerica2098 I am putting up some new shelving in a new house and wanted to refresh my memory. I have since installed the shelf. I think it will outlast the house.

I bought the wire shelving and was finding out how to cut it, now im heading to the depot to return lol.

At least he came out of the closet
😂😂🤣brooo you need your own show on HGTV! Great video!

I came to this video with extreme frustration. Your video wasn't in vain. This really helped me. Thanks

I am so tired of people telling me that I have too many clothes! Thank you for showing why wire shelving is the worst

I loved this video. Funny and informative. Worth watching every minute. 😊

I laughed out loud several times. You rock. Thanks for showing us how!
Funny how things come around in a circle. This is the kind of shelving we had BEFORE the wire shelving made its debut
I’m so glad I found this! I was thinking about getting those cheap plastic wire shelving! I’ll go with something else! Thank you thank you thank you!
You really got into this video. Funny thing is those wire shelving are perfect for throwing a light on top and growing some herbs
Nice, but I like wire shelving. Like the new closet maid system but the container store has some nice elfa system that is more durable than the closet maid system but it's a little expensive.
Agreed! He pretty much had the cheapest and worst shelving I've ever seen.
OMG my daughter and I laughed so hard at the beginning. Great vid!
"Because you make a big mess and it gives me anxiety."
Amazing how she made it about her. That's a special talent.
How could anyone not like this video. Thank you for good info!
That was pretty cool and hilarious. Thanks!

I said the same thing to myself I would of out some extra support on that
Thank you! I learned so much. You're funny, made it easier to follow.
Great production, watched all the way through.
Fantastic vid. You are an inspiration!!!
How much weight can these hanging clothes shelves hold? I'm used to wooden poles and wooden shelves.
Could you tell me where you got the brackets for the closet? Or the name of them? Brand? And what rod you used? Please and thank you!
All parts are from Menards, and they are a brand called Closet-Pro. I haven't had any fail on me yet in 8 years.
Thank you for the information.

where do I buy those products that you used, what kind of pipe.
Pretty damn funny man hahah
And very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
What stops that top shelf from bowing, since it's not actually affixed to something?
What brand is the brackets & pole?
This is great. I am about to go for it. Would it be wack if I have the wood and pole cut at the hardware store? lol
thejluntzreport hell naw!
That was hilarious! You shocked me with dress. Great use of music.
Haaa... the ending. She doesn't want to be around to watch you, wear her clothes!!! Lol. Great video brother, thanks for sharing. Hilarious!!!!
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Impressed by your work Man. Can anybody tell me where to get the wooden slab and the other required material?
i love the repurposing the wire shelving. I belted out laughing at that segment!
Where did you get the brackets, please?
Informative AND HYSTERICAL!! I had a skeleton present at my install, too. lol
thanks...laughed, enjoyed, and learned.

This was a great video. I hate wire shelves!!!!!! This guy is good. The sad thing is that he doesn't have 1000 self help videos. He is made for this.
You're hilarious, and I think I remember something about installing shelves. :-)
What type of hanging rods do you prefer and does Home Depot cut pipe and wood for you if you don't have the equipment?

Lol, did you really have to impersonate your wife!!!, had me dying with laughter
I thought I was watching 'The Kids in the Hall' (a TV show like SNL) You could literally be a fill-in on that show. :D
You look like Dave Foley. Which made this even funnier. :) (It's a compliment, I promise.)
I had to take the wire shelving out of my closet when I moved into my house because it looked like it wouldn't last long holding up my clothes.
I love this 😂😍
lmao!! I LOVE THE DRESS AND WIG!
Great video, I agree with u 100%.
Very entertaining and informative. I have this problem too.... Lol
GREAT! WONDERFUL! INFORMATIVE! But please, throw away those plastic hangers! Get some non-slip velvet ones and see that new closet SHINE with all the extra space and uniformity! I can't wait to watch your other videos now and use my wire shelves as a colander ;p
Ha ha, you will be happy to know that the wife has been replacing the old plastic ones with velvet hangers for the full upgrade.
Thanks for watching.
Loved this! Lol. What is your music source please?
wow,, this is really funny as I'm currently installing wire shelves,,, my bad..
Same lol
This was a very good video!
Luv this video! 🤣
I like it a lot better. However you had the wrong wire shelving to begin with. (wardrobe).
I'd like to SLAP the Dope that thought cheap wire shelving was a good idea. My builder installed it, and I knew I got screwed. WHY would Anyone do that? Build it right and be done with it.
You are awesome XD truly enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing! lol
Great vid bro
Laugh through the whole vid
I’m subscribed due to the wig
awesome video
so you don't even like the "shelftrack" systems?
I'm jealous I have as many clothes or more and I'm frightened. I figured they'd fall. It happened at my sister's house. Ugh
Would you please make more home improvement videos like this. You're hilarious.
I wish I could post a picture of my nightmare wasted corner issue in my closet! Wire shelving is the devil!! 😭
I hate wire shelving too!
Anyone notice the cat photo bomb at 2:35?

😂😂😂😂😂 loved this
Me too
Cute!
I love this... I still used wire shelving. It's just for my pantry.
Ugh There are better shelves than hes using.
Could you come over to my shop and replace some shelves, please?
Stud finder!! LOL!!!
The wire shelving installation looked completely wrong and hangers are not suppose to hang on the overhang. Wire shelving abuse! 🤣
Ha! I’ve never ever bought wire shelving because it stinks.
Funnnyyy!
Hahahahhahah dude you're hilarious!!
9:30 lol
Great Bill Clinton impersonation!
Don't throw it away, use it to keep dogs and cats off the couch.

You're cute... 😬

The nagging wife ruins a otherwise FUN VIDEO!!
Entertaining ! LOL! Definately not boing to watch
