I'm exploring a deep arcane beeline classic mage right now since I've already leveled as frost a couple times before and its meh alright. I'm not too pleased with it but the arcane/fire mixture version holds up until level 36 or so (when frost takes over), in fact I think arcane fire is the fastest non AOE build to level 25 I've found so far. And I've played a lot of vanilla mages. I even AOE leveled one frost build to 40 without dying in PVE (then I got bored and quit). 16 hours /played to get to level 18 isn't exactly the land speed record, i'm rather disappointed with arcane. Agreed on both, but I think it's more aimed towards people getting into mage who won't be as proficient with knowing how to AoE pull, frostbite can help be a good save but yeah more experienced players won't need to take it.
That's the joke about my statement. That saaaid, once you get past 30, your options open up with extreme precise timing of reck-bombing every auto through sit/stand interactions ((Definitely need a swing timer add on for t his, the window is tight.)) And at 42+ you become the second class able to AOE grind through reflection damage. But, both of these raise risk factor a lot, while if you play the game safely, you are the most boring uninteractive class ever. But at least you never have to stop to eat/drink
Warlock is safer in general I'd say but when shit hits the fan such as with elite mob patrols mage is probably the best bet to survive. Sure, Warlocks have double vw sacrifice shields but say you are in the southern barrens and the 5 alliance patrols chase you down, you will still die. Same for Stitches likely. Mages get blink which is extremely good at getting out of bad situations. Both classes are really good in hardcore though, I have personally made it higher on a warlock but sadly died in a cave due to respawns and panicking, doubt I would have made it out on a mage either though in that situation.

I know they get made fun of a lot, but my first character (well, first I played past level 8 or so to get a vague feel of) back in 2004 was a Gnome Mage. I have loved mages ever since, and yes, I have loved gnomes ever since. They're silly and they're heads are very large for a lot of transmog, but it feels wrong if I'm playing an Alliance mage for it to NOT be a gnome. My go to mage for Horde is Blood Elf. They just seem magey
Don't put 3 points into improved cone of cold. I know it's tempting, but doing that means that your improved blizzard doesn't replace coc debuffs, which means that between coc falling off and blizzard being applied can be a second or so, a second in which these mobs can run at you at full speed. Alternatively you can look into coc kiting, which takes much more skill than blizzard kiting, but is faster. Requires a mixed fire and frost spec tho
There's NO safe way to level on HC via AoE leveling. Not only is it risky on it's own, but you put a big sign on your back that says "grief me." That's my tip of the day.
HC actually makes Arcane pretty decent. You're not AoE leveling (unless you're dumb), and arcane is a nice balance of damage and safety. The only worst thing is losing ice block.
They should make an Elysium server to copy/transfer dead hardcore characters to continue as softcore when 90%+ of players die. They could even make it a paid transfer if they wanted to make a ton of money.
I'm an experienced AoE grinder, did plenty of runs lvling in ZF zombies etc. Absolutely no chance I'm going to do AoE levelling in hardcore, the risk is just too high, 1 mis-step and you've just burned many many hours of levelling your Mage lol.
Plz at least tell them YOU CAN'T CAST SLOW FALL ON OTHERS Oh good he does 😎 so many mages in the death videos going oh no slow fall isn't working on him
Ive been playing mage and ontop of frostbite proccing off all frost spells and even armors it procs off arcane explosion aswel lol idk why but its ok with me!
I took a firemage to 60 on HC. Dinged 60 with all the sticky glue, all the slumber sand, had to vendor the skull, never had to use any swiftness potions I got from quests. Shit was easy as fuck.
But you really need to be nolifer, no work, or have a good few weeks off from work and knowadge wheeres a farm spots to be ahead of curve. It sounds easy, but its not. And at the end you will burn out of rushing

Alternatively you can look into coc kiting, which takes much more skill than blizzard kiting, but is faster. Requires a mixed fire and frost spec tho
So much wrong with this comment you should honestly just delete it 😂
@@jamesQodex Name a single wrong statement, lol. Fucking idiot. I switched improved CoC and improved blizzard, wow.
Had a mage, but died at 16 in Undercity to the alchemy quest that summons elementals. Was so ashamed, havent give HC a second go ever since.
just skip it
There's NO safe way to level on HC via AoE leveling.
Most informative guide ive seen for a newish player like myself. Cheers
I think I'll stay frost spec the entirety of hardcore, just no reason to risk dying on any other build lol.
Can you do rogue please ? I'm really enjoying your guides and was hoping the next one would be a rogue guide
these videos are gonna have you in your bag in like a year
What do u mean have him in his bag?
So that thumbnail is pure Pint, right?
8:23 not slows only roots and stuns
Taikuri on kyllä helvetin kova pillunpanija.
Do the shaman next
Hi Will!
Is world pvp a thing on hardcore? I'd hate to level a mage to near 60 only for a rogue to come along and 2-3 shot me...
Can we get shaman next?
Rogue next 🙏
They should make an Elysium server to copy/transfer dead hardcore characters to continue as softcore when 90%+ of players die. They could even make it a paid transfer if they wanted to make a ton of money.
Its the Wrong Atiesh on this Mage. The Mage Atiesh is with the Red fabric stripes, the Blue one is the Warlock Atiesh.
its good to start hardcore now or better wait to fresh hardcore servers?
Just start now - life is fleeting, and you can at least consider it a practice run.
You can use mage armor to regenerate mana
Priest next pls!
I'm an experienced AoE grinder, did plenty of runs lvling in ZF zombies etc. Absolutely no chance I'm going to do AoE levelling in hardcore, the risk is just too high, 1 mis-step and you've just burned many many hours of levelling your Mage lol.
Plz at least tell them YOU CAN'T CAST SLOW FALL ON OTHERS
Oh good he does 😎 so many mages in the death videos going oh no slow fall isn't working on him
Do the shaman :)
I want to see Rogue!
How does the mage use a wand?
This is the class in practicing with now
warlock next please
First 60 is gonna be a BM Hunter. The are almost as fast but the risk factor isnt even close to a mage
This didnt age well
Can’t wait for you to warrior.
I died at lvl 17,thats all i have to say. 😂
The most difficult thing in classic for me is accidentally causing so much AOE damage that the tank loses threat. Use Blizzard responsibly.
Ive been playing mage and ontop of frostbite proccing off all frost spells and even armors it procs off arcane explosion aswel lol idk why but its ok with me!
nice ad btw
I took a firemage to 60 on HC. Dinged 60 with all the sticky glue, all the slumber sand, had to vendor the skull, never had to use any swiftness potions I got from quests. Shit was easy as fuck.
What build did you use?
Reminder, mages don't level quickly if there are a lot of people in the open world. Hunters are still the fastest solo leveling class.
On a fresh start you can very quickly get ahead of everyone if you are fast. So yeah mages still fastest if you are no life-ing it
But you really need to be nolifer, no work, or have a good few weeks off from work and knowadge wheeres a farm spots to be ahead of curve. It sounds easy, but its not. And at the end you will burn out of rushing
Showing blizzard/ AoE farm without Imp blizzard is very weird….
Mages are super strong. But one mistake. Squish.
ye frost mage is just the best class for leveling
