Apparently the expansion tank is prone to cracking or splitting as they age the plastic becomes brittle , I would have replaced that tank just to be on the safe side . Just did mine in my 20 year old 330ci .
Yes the expansion tank is prone to that. As I mentioned in the video, it was sensible to change it. Unfortunately it was all down to budget and finances this time. A new tank from BMW looks to be around the £100 mark and I didn't have that to spare :( Once I'm in a position to, I can always change it later and keep my fingers crossed until then. I examined the bottle when it was out and it looked good.
I have this car. Any idea why my engine coolant light comes on randomly? It comes on, the temperature 🌡 goes up for a few seconds and then goes all the way down below the 12 o'clock mark . Worries me everytime it happens. Can you point me to the right direction?
Couple of things I would look at. Thermostat or Coolant Temperature Sensor maybe. Also make sure your current coolant level is good. Stick should be floating a little (there'll be a diagram on the expansion tank). That's the first thing to check.
@@bimmerclubsport coolant level is where it should be. It's even the red coolant. I had the expansion tank replaced because it cracked. Maybe its a faulty sensor.
@@mahidm1804 Unless the fluid is Comma G48, then I'd whip down to your nearest BMW dealer and pick up 3 bottles of genuine (blue) coolant (which is what they should give you if you tell them which car it's for), then a 5litre bottle of distilled water and reflush it. Anyhing else in there isn't going to be healthy for the car and can rot the insides. They're very particular. Not saying it will fix the issue but at least you'll know you have the right coolant in there.

Haha, in the 2nd part of the vid, I forgot that I already explained about the coolant mixing in the bottles so ended up doing it again, only worse. 😂
😂😂😂 Enjoyed the video pal. Hope you are well 👍
@@todareistodo908 Not too bad thanks. :)

What is it you're buying? A radiator? A BMW or specifically a Clubsport?
