Your cousin was an amazing guitarist! I love the feeling he played with. It's heartbreaking that he had so much and lost even more perhaps. I hope he's found peace
Allen Collins was a powerful guitar player..Never missed a note on Freebird and so many shows.Todays music is lacking excitement and creativity ..They are all missed but never forgotten.
Not true. Look up Fortune Child, Montra, Dirty Honey, and Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown. If that’s not new music, I don’t know what is! It’s all in where you look.
Actually it's the real first album. Straight from the man himself. I remember thinking when I bought it that First and ... Last would just be outtakes and tracks the band really didn't like. Man! it was so great!!. It's really cool to hear Allen back in 1978 talking about that album. He'll always be one of my main guitar heroes. RIP and God bless you Allen. We miss you.
The sound quality on this particular album is incredible, the noticeable reverb on Ronnie's vocals and just the over all sound quality is top-notch. I always thought of this as being the real first Skynyrd album without hearing Allen say that it was nice to hear him confirm my intuition was correct. Really miss these guys. What a great band, we'll never forget you Lynyrd Skynyrd thanks for the music 👍
This was great...he was such a cool guy. I am on my second copy of First and Last now. When it came out it was all we had. That was hard times. And its my second favorite behind 'Bullets' to this day- Thank you for posting this-
Johnson didn’t f up the tape. Pros store reels “tails out” which means you have to rewind before playing. Consumers often store tapes “heads”. Consequently, if you mistakenly think the tape is heads, when you orient the tape accordingly on the machine, you’ll actually be playing the back of the tape. The error was the agent’s. As you say, Johnson is legendary and would never make that mistake.
@@ElizabethJohnson-ss4ce but also drugs. And alcohol. And there are plenty of pics from before the crash and from before he lost his wife and baby when he still had that look.
The lineup today they play the songs good, and they are good musicians, but I feel like they are just going through the motions, the original band Played from the heart, they definitely put there heart and soul in it, there will never be another like them 😢
R.I.P. Allen, you were a Gift to us All, Cousin Figel

@@Billy-yt6ow Exactly. Like I said, it’s all in where you look.
Alan Collins and Ronnie VanZant were the Lennon/McCartney of Southern Rock.
wow great to hear allen actually speak! thanks for posting!! He was the goat!! IMO
It’s his birthday today HBDAC 🎂🎶
Unbelievable! That's about the most I have ever heard Allen speak. Thank you for posting!
R I.P mr Collins your guitar chops will soar forever....
Respectful interviewer, seems his knew his Skynyrd pretty well. If that band had a, "rock star" AC was it - style, charisma, & just plain cool.
Wow how much more stuff in the vault? Someone give Gary a tombstone
Private collections here in Jacksonville would totally blow minds. Yes where is the tombstone?
Wow. Great interview. Allen may be the most underated guitarist in rock history.
I saw Skynyrd in 1977 a couple months before the crash. It was great. Soldier Field.

I love Allen’s voice! Actually I just love Allen!♥️
Love Allen Collins. Humble beautiful soul.
I knew Allan a little bit, and I liked him a lot, but I’m not sure I’d call him humble. 🙂
@@ernestsample283you didn’t know him. Stop talking out of your ass.
@@ernestsample283let’s not say nothing about a man who passed, many, many years ago. Have some class Ernest.
I do have some class. That’s why you got to hear this interview. As I said, I knew Allen and liked him a lot.
He was the sound of Lynyrd Skynyrd
Allen was so great! Saw him twice. Miss him forever!
He's talking about Jimmy Johnson from muscle shoals he fkd the tape up but hell it's Jimmy Johnson he's a legend his damn self 😂

Hard to grasp that he's been gone for over 30 years at this point
Allen Collins was a great man, a genuine honest man~ I play guitar myself since 1978. He was a great player as well.
Greatest band ever!!
R.I.P ALLEN FROM THE REAL PEOPLE FROM THE CASSAT AVE AREA
He sounds like such a great person. His eyes in some photos look vacant and sad. Sigh.
Drugs will give you that look
@cosmic_american
It's not drugs giving him that look. The satanic pressures of the industry does which leads them to the drugs.
@@american_cosmic So will being seriously injured in a plane crash that killed some of your best friends and then losing your wife and unborn child.
