I actually sprayed the connectors as well cos that’s what the bottle said to do lol. It worked. I did wipe residue off from spray but of course tried not to touch sensor itself. My car idles much better now
Several days ago my 2010 Nissan Rogue broke down on the freeway. It was running fine then poof! It just stopped running. Tow truck driver looked at it and said it was probably a dirty MAF sensor. Maybe had a bug in it. When I got home I pulled it out and sure enough there was a small dead bug in the sensor. I blew it out and put it back in and it's running better than before. No cleaner necessary.
@@sgar4729 One thing I didn't know before is that if you take off your MAF sensor and put it back on, it needs to be "relearned" which is a tricky process when done correctly. But sometimes you can disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes then re-connect and it will reset itself.
That can shoots straight and narrow for about 5 feet.. You actually shoved the nozzle inside the MAF - if you hit the sensor you have a very high chance of breaking it. Mass air flow sensor cleaner dries in about 30 seconds from soaked BTW

I just bought the 07 c6. Performs very well. I put the throttle to the floor. Check engine light lit up. Stopped at Autozone. They have free diagnostic check. The code came up as bad mass air flow sensor. New sensor $85 changed it out in the parking lot. Stopped for fuel, the engine remapped, light went off. Screw cleaning it. For $85, WELL worth it for piece of mind.
You got lucky Bandit- there are a variety of MAP sensors for sale- most of the cheap ones don't last. I would stay away from Amazon. Dealer MAP now costing $300 yikes! Plan to clean first on my 2012 Sentra S. Last resort will be to buy OEM.
@@kbron3250 well, the new sensor is AC Delco brand, and I kept the old one & may try to clean it to have a spare. BTW, the Bandit ALWAYS gets lucky. LOL
@@banditdarval9401 that's dumb for 2 reasons.. if your old MAF sensor is good enough to keep then you should've just cleaned it which only takes 5 minutes, 2nd reason that's dumb is because MAF sensors will last forever if you just keep them clean so you really don't need a backup one
Spraying the cleaner on the electrical connector will not harm it. the cleaner is a non conductive chemical and not only will not harm the connection but possibly remove some of the contaminants from the sensor connector.
@@876inc the sensors on the maf are very sensitive and prone to breaking or being damaged from the chemicals in things like brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner. Yes, you can. CRC makes an electrical contact cleaner that is basically the same thing as the MAF cleaner. The ONLY difference is that the MAF cleaner dries a lot faster. Thats it.
I'd avoid it, CRC makes different products for a reason. It wouldn't surprise me if TB cleaner includes additives for lubrication or protection which could muck up the very delicate/sensitive MAF sensor. Spend the $8 to buy the right stuff or risk having to replace the sensor.
@@CardMan91 maf sensor cleaner is specifically made so that it leaves no residue when it evaporates, so its 100% safe to use on any electronics, its what its meant for.
Very simple, clean and to the point! That's right. Keep it simple and smooth. Great job young man. Keep it up.
If all you critics know how to clean the sensor then why are you looking up how to do it?

@Demetrius Keegan that's pathetic. I feel bad for her. Sounds like you lack confidence.
I sprayed everything and it works fine the electrics too

Glad you disconnected the sensor. You are wise. Like and subscribe.

I just did this to the MAF sensor on my Nissan X trail T31 2.0 dci using contact cleaner. Worked perfectly, like a new engine.
@@oldgit5948 you mean you sprayed it with the compressed air ?
@@MTunez no I used contact cleaner and dried with kitchen paper and let the residue evaporate for a few minutes. Still working perfectly.

Correct. MAF sensor cleaner is similar or same as electrical contact cleaner
Yep agree I spray all the connectors for the maf so everything gets a clean and no issues

How long do you let it dry?
Cleaning for maintenance ,yes. If you have a code you should replace it. It's gotta be one of the easiest parts to replace.
