  • They are sweets originating from ancient Rome, with the shape of small soft sandwiches from the heart of cream! It seems that they even originated in the Roman Empire, when they were prepared with less refined and simpler ingredients. They probably represented the main meal that wives prepared for husbands who went out to work early and needed substantial food.
    Their Italian name "Maritozzi" comes from another tradition, according to which these sweets were given to future brides by their boyfriends, called "maritozzi" (in Italian a pet of housband), and they could hide a small gift for their loved one inside.
    They are simple to make, you just need to calculate the leavening time!
    We have prepared them with 0 flour, but if you want to use Manitoba flour (perfect for leavening lingas), it will be enough to decrease lsa quantity (550 g total flour 0 = 500 g total flour Manitoba).
