      Similar to Kratom. Except it hooks you like an opioid on top. When I did Adderall it was always very recreational and never had a problem with it, but kratom ended up taking over ever daily task and "mentality" you could have. It takes a while to even begin to comprehend being able to do something, especially work, without it as a crutch. It has a pretty strong dopamine hit on top of the opioid effect because it has stimulant alkaloids too, is why I presume.

    A truly miserable cycle. I started taking adderall during my first semester of law school…. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to finish law school without it, but now I can’t do anything without it. Being strung out Mon-Fri then not even being able to lift a finger on the weekends (I don’t take it on weekends). Wish I had never started it to begin with!

    • @Soberdogs
      @Soberdogs  2 года назад +7

      Tay wow that is so tru. I totally agree I don't think i would have finished college without it but like you said then we need it for everything. Can't you take a lower dose on the weekends to keep a little motivation because if you don't take it on the weekends your basically going through a mini withdrawal every weekend.

      Ya I feel for you. My ex gf did the same thing in law school. Watched her personality completely fade into the void. Everything I loved about her slowly disappeared. And it was the reason we broke up after 9 years.
      I turned her into an isolated miserable person with the complete inability to experience joy.
      I had a problem with it too. If you stop your life will get absurdly better after 2-4 weeks.

    I take it for adhd inattentive type so it makes me focused but calm I can even sleep on adderall and I’m on from my psychiatrist adderall xr 20mg twice daily for some reason I don’t get energized I just wished ppl would only use it for adhd and not make an epidemic out of it so it ruins it for ppl who actually needs the drug like they did with the opioids

    • @wjckc79
      @wjckc79 Год назад +4

      I have pretty close to the same story. I take 30 mg instant release spread out across a day. I have ADD ADHD Combination Type. Adderall doesn't make me "speed". If anything, haveing my thoughts organized is incredibly calming. I also can sleep after taking it. I try to organize my day so that doesn't happen as it seems a waste. Here it is Saturday, and I am all caught up on important tasks and ready to just chill. I have no impulse to pop one. I see your post is 6-months old. Fast forward to now and there is a massive Adderall shortage. I found out about it the hard way a couple months ago when I went to get a refill and every pharmacy in town was out. I had to go off it cold turkey for almost 2-weeks. Yeah, my symptoms rose to the top, but I didn't have any withdrawals whatsoever. I guess there is a neurological difference between needing it and taking it for all the wrong reasons. The stigma against Adderall is very high due to all the people taking it who should not be. It is unfortunate.

    • @pianomanforlife7
      @pianomanforlife7 Год назад

      @@wjckc79William, I’m no doctor but based on your response I’d say you probably don’t need it. Because if your ready to chill on Saturday without it, I’d say you might not have adhd. You say you can sleep on it, but let’s say you take a 20 at 6pm. I doubt your sleeping at 10 without sleep aid’s. Not sure how long you’ve been on it but it’s a slippery slope. I’ve been taking it nearly 7 years on and off and I can tell you confidently that if you’re newer too it, you’ll benefit getting off sooner rather than later.

    • @ip2
      @ip2 Месяц назад +1

      I hear a lot of ppl say that addicts ruin access to meds for everyone. That’s not the case. The doctors know these meds are addictive and prescribe them to as many ppl as possible to make as much profit as possible. A patient with a substance abuse disorder could actually be seen as more valuable than a regular patient because they have a much higher likelihood of being a “return customer.”

    I have taken adderall for 10 years, FOR ten years!! I cant believe I am still alive today because of my abuse to it. The first time I took it was in college when studying for a FINAL. At the time, the drug made me feel ten times the person I was then. I was able to study, do a gym session, then make dinner for my self and family--I was limitless.
    It helped me to be a better when I was on it, but the CRASH and withdrawal was unbearable. However, at year five, my body adjusted to it. I was able to get the ALOT done on just one extended tablet of 30mg a day. My mind and body figured it out, and it was/is the best life experience ive had to date. BUT with any drug, THERE was a crash. A really bad crash. My mind took a fall, and I have never been the same. I feel like my frontal lobes are completely burnt. My motivation is out the window.
    I hope I find myself again :(

    I’ve been on it for years… what’s crazy is a year ago I got out of a relationship and started working out hard once again. I never had terrible withdrawal symptoms, I believe due to my mind being distracted with the hurt from the breakup. After a month I felt better than I’ve felt in a long time. Clear headed, natural energy, confident, and hard working. For some reason I let myself back on it and once again feel like I’m in the spiral you describe. Worst thing is adderall makes all my other “issues” actual issues. Like I’m not much a drinker when I don’t take it, I also don’t need nicotine, and far less weed to get an effect. It’s a bummer us humans haven’t found a drug like addy that doesn’t come with all the negative side effects🥲 here goes my second journey quitting. Wish me the best… See you on the other side.

Especially that you almost are forced to take other drugs to come down and being able to sleep for some hours. It just sucks so much.

I'm not an upper person so would you recommend not continuing to take or just take like I do which is not everyday and only take 5 mg tops ?

      It seems like the way you use it should not be a problem but you can judge yourself better then others.
      So if youre scared its going to be a problem you should stop.
      But 5mg is not a lot, and not enough to cause many problems unless youre super sensitive to it.

If I took more than that, I felt stuck! It actually made me feel miserable, if that makes sense. I couldn't sleep, my blood pressure was critical, so I told my doctor I didn't want it anymore. Best decision I ever made! It was literally hurting me, because I didn't take, as I should.

      Been on Kratom for 6 years and desperately trying to get off it for the last 3 years. Been in outpatient rehab and detox 4 times in the last 2 years, longest I ever made it was 3 weeks, went into a horrible depression started aggressively abusing alcohol which landed me in a mental hospital for a week. Kratom has absolutely fucked my life and is continuing to do so. It was a lot easier for me to kick Oxy and methadone than it’s been to get off Kratom. I’ve been abusing adderall for the last 3 years on top of it. But I can tell you it’s way easier to adderall than it is to kick Kratom. Been trying to get into rehab for 2 years now but my insurance wouldn’t pay for it, Medicaid wouldn’t pay for it, and I don’t have $30K-$40K laying around to just pay for it myself. It’s fucking impossible to get any help for inpatient substance abuse treatment without good insurance. I feel trapped as fuck, it’s awful.
      I seriously 100% feel for you and anyone else’s life it’s ruined. I wouldn’t wish drug addiction on my worst enemy. We just gotta keep our head up and keep trying, I seriously don’t know what the fuck else to do, I’ve literally very seriously thought about intentionally getting myself locked up for sick months just to keep myself away from it long enough for the post-acute withdrawal to fade so I can actually achieve sobriety. Fuck! 🤦‍♂️

    I’ve been on Adderall for 12 years. Started at 10mg. Now prescribed 80mg a day, which is the legal limit. Never take more than prescribed, I know I can’t have more. When you actually need that much, for so long, you lose the bursts of energy. I take 30mg at 5 am so I can get out of bed by 7am. I’m an introvert who works at home, so I’m not super energetic or talkative. It just gets me to normal. My house doesn’t look like a frat house, but it’s not a perfect museum type of house, too.
    I guess I’m legally addicted?? I never take more than I should, drs are supportive, but DAMN, if I miss a day the detox is REAL.

    • @Soberdogs
      @Soberdogs  3 года назад +2

      wow 80mg is the legal Limit? Where are you? because i know people on higher doses. I guess maybe they could be full of it but thats crazy yea so you take it at 5 and go back to bed for 2 hours? thats unique but I can relate I used to take it at lunch, take a nap, then be motivated to get up

      @DarkbutNotsinister 3 года назад

      @@Soberdogs I’m right down the 190 a bit in Buffalo (you really should check your IG DMs!). My 80mg is spread out through the day. 30mg to get up at 5am. Another 30mg about noon & 20 mg at 3pm. And naps. 🤷🏻‍♀️
      The last time they moved me up to 80mg, they told me it was the legal limit. I get them written as 30mg AND 10mg. I have to pull myself back every so often because my tolerance goes up. The 10mg allow me to adjust as necessary. Sometimes, I just prepare ahead of time to spend a week on the couch. As long as I have one 30mg, I won’t get sick. I won’t get off the couch, either, but I won’t get sick.

      Although even prescribed amounts can become addicting this is exactly how medication is supposed to be used.
      People saying they feel like superman and can do everything + more are already taking too much.
      Its not supposed to take away all the effort it costs to do things, only lessen the severity of your problems.
      This is something that has to be focussed on as soon as you take any medication or else you will become addicted faster then you know.
