    Nice vid. Would you trust this thing to function properly while backpacking or hiking?

    • @charlesartificer2158
      @charlesartificer2158  11 дней назад

      No, I would not. I have used this stove maybe 12 or more times. It has functioned well for what it is. But I have used that car camping. For hiking and backpacking I would recommend a small stove like the campingmoon XD-2F.
      But if your set on a large gas stove like this my recommendation is to find a used in good condition Coleman single burner stove like a 502. I did a quick search on facebook marketplace and depending on condition seen pricing anywhere from 37 to 60 bucks. Most with short videos showing them working.
      If you have to have brand new the Coleman dual fuel 533 can be had brand new online for a little over 100 bucks. I recommend the Colemans for a few very good reasons. One there is a ton of information on them. Online rebuild videos, trouble shooting ect. Two there are available parts that can keep such stoves running almost forever. Three the quality of the stoves are a testament that many stoves from the 60's are still running strong.
      This camping stove is ok quality, about what you would expect from china. But there are no available parts for it. For instance when the pump wears out I will have to find out the hard way if I can refurbish / rebuild it.
      So I hope my rambling answered your question. Have a great day.

    Nice little camp stove Charles! Good to have an alternative to propane bottles, I still use the 2 burner Coleman kerosene stove my dad got for camping when I was a kid. 🔥😎👍🏻

      Thanks MAER its an ok stove. The next ones are better imo. I also have one of those old 2 burner Coleman stoves. Great stoves but a lil big where space is at a premium. How's life out your way?

      Yea she is a big green klunker in comparison! @@charlesartificer2158 We're hibernating the winter here, we keep getting unseasonably warm weather ruining our snow for snowmobile action, but yet the ground & waterways remain frozen keeping us from Treasure Hunting. I'm hopeful for an early spring!

      @@MAERvideos same here we got a heat wave up in the 45 degree range. Melted all the snow and everything right now it's 39 degrees. The weather is just crazy here right now but the ground is still frozen so no treasure hunting.

    LSO619 should be your model. 618 is likely be the Coleman 533 clone (older design). Coleman 533 clone can be as low as RMB168. Those spare parts can be found in China Taobao shopping platform.

    Your pump was halfway out. That's the reason it didn't prime

      @charlesartificer2158 Thanks for the review! I've got the same stove.
      In another video, I saw that the Coleman stove has a twist-to-lock system in a similar setup.

      @@ZookLife you're right I have several Coleman stoves. And they all twist and lock. You know with China copying everything in the world I'm surprised they haven't completely copied 100% some of the Coleman classic stoves.

    • @ZookLife
      @ZookLife 3 месяца назад +1

      @charlesartificer2158 If they start adding all those details, in the end, they'll end up costing the same I guess. Makes the original brands survive that way.
      For countries with a weak currency, Chinese products are a godsend. Naturehike has some nice camping products which I enjoy.

    That other nut that is not the nozzle is where the generator has a spring or material inside it that gets clogged with a black dirty looking stuff i think and when the flame loses pressure it is getting too clogged . That us why stoves like the white gas or coleman liquid fuel because it is so much cleaner and non clogging as regular lawn mower gasoline i think . But i never opened the generator so i cannot tell you for sure what that nut is for or if you can take it apart . Does it need thread sealant ?

      I had another subscriber say that cloth is asbestos. So if you want to remove it maybe you should look into where to take it to have it removed professionally and safely.

      White gasoline, unleaded gasoline, diesel and alcohol. These are the only fuels this stove is designed for.

      I've had a lot of issues burning Diesel in this stove. I initially tried it with the Diesel Jet only to find that it produced a very sooty yellow flame and no blue flame at all. When I replaced the Diesel Jet with the Gasoline Jet, I could burn Diesel to a blue flame, but it would spit yellow flames randomly amonst the blue flame. I've yet to try it with White Gasoline or Coleman fuel, but I suspect that it will work better with that. I'm dissappointed that it won't work properly on Diesel, which is why I bought the stove. I have a feeling that if the heating tube was looped in the flame more, that the stove would work better as I suspect that it's not heating enough to fully vaporise the Diesel, which is why it is spitting yellow flame amongst the blue flame.

      Diesel and kerosene are virtually identical. Kerosene should work fine.

    Hello Charles. You have made some very good videos. However, on the other two comparison videos you covered the pot for the boil test. I suggest that the boil test would render a shorter time if you had the lid on for the LSO 618/619.
