    "Graduations in both Metric and English"? I had no idea The Metric system was actually a language, or that English was a form of measurement. I also have this kit, and i'd agree with you on the cheapness of the bag ( although my bag looks quite a bit different than yours.), im looking for a replacement. My mods went the other way. I kept the bottom, but then drilled 4 holes about a half an inch down and put 2 pins through, that supports the cup, and because its slightly inside, it adds some stability. You just light the stove first, drop it in the bottom, pins in place, cup on top, and dinner's on its way.

    • @charlesartificer2158
      @charlesartificer2158 6 дней назад

      I think I can Visualize what you are describing in reference to your mods. Best carrier I found for this set without spending a fortune is the GI carrier. When I was growing up Many people around here called metric commie or Japanese. This being Michigan in the 70-80's many people here hated Japanese cars. Tools then were either SAE, English or commie lol. So all these years later I still slip up when it comes to metric measurements. thanks for the stroll down memory lane, have a great night.

    I like that it didn't come with one of those chimneys that has to be rolled. A 15 minute wait for a bake is fantastic. I think anyone with an ice fishing shack would love this. Glad you got it for under $500. A hot water tank on top would be great. Gotta have hot coffee and hot water for clean-up. This ash door seems a little wonky - looked slightly crooked but not a deal breaker for what it is. Its a very functional camping/tent stove. The window for viewing the fire is quite pleasant. Glad I'm watching this in air conditioning. It is very hot in Ohio.

Good or bad review depends on several things. Cost, Intended use and experience. Most of the bad reviews are people saying its not high density foam according to there experience or some industry standard. second most common is people putting it in a couch over springs, didn't work well ect. The other seems to be on the cost. when I got this it was pricey. I see that price has come down. So For my use it works fine and I am ok with it. What are you planning to do with it? Surprisingly I’m absolutely immune to both plants, I’ve actually tested them in the inside (softer skin) of my arms on purpose and nothing, same with bees or wasp’s stings, been even stung on the face and nothing but a red dot that disappeared in 10 minutes. I’m weird lol.

      Carmen sounds like you won the genetic lottery. What I neglected to bring up during this video is that if you do develop a rash this soap will help dry it up and lesson the itching. This works well on stains for your laundry. wet the stain and rub it with the bar, wash regularly. Have a great night!

    Theres a plant referred to as "Wild touch me not" here in the South that people in the mountains swear by. I have also used broad leaf plantain, commonly grows on lawns, after a good scrub with Dawn. I imagine this soap would pull the oil and grease out of just about anything considering naphtha is of course used in lighter fluid , Coleman fuel etc, and will readily strip every bit of oil and grease right off of metals😂 Only thing that does a better job decreasing steel is acetone. Ima get some of this. Thanks brother

    Poison sumac is what’s called. Nasty vegetation. And one does not necessarily need to be in physical contact with it or poison oak or ivy either. If you accidentally burn some in a campfire you can catch it via the oils burning and one coming in contact via airborne. So beware of what kind of wood you put in your fire as the poison vines can get rather large as the wrap around trees and look like a piece of wood when cut, especially if used in a bonfire setting. This sounds like a great product. I’ll have to try it. Thanks for sharing.

    Do these get worn out

    • @charlesartificer2158
      @charlesartificer2158 29 дней назад

      @808jonjon Great question. In normal use no. Tungsten Carbide hardness is a 9 on the Mohs scale. Diamond is a 10. With that said it is very hard and wear resistant. But being hard it can be fragile and will chip if dropped on a hard surface. So with normal use, keeping the cover over the carbide when not in use I am willing to say it will outlast the average human being. I think your more likely to loose it or chip it from poor handling than wear it out. I own like 4 of these. I have one on my main bench I use almost daily to maintain a razor edge on whatever pocket knife I am carrying or using. I have one in my backpack I take with me to work for similar reasons. And I have a few in my 4 season fire kits. I think they are an amazing tool and if you can master it you will wonder how you ever lived without one. Thanks for the comment and views. have a great night.

      I have had no issues with it. I keep it in my truck with my other winter gear. Used it 5 or 6 times this last winter to make coffee from snow when I was out helping a buddy drop trees. It works well for me. I have not used it as much as my other stoves but as long as it is taken care of I see no reason it wont last for many years to come.
