Quantifying design aesthetics | Jose E. Lugo | TEDxUND

An engineering graduate student at the University of Notre Dame, Jose Lugo was working for an automotive company when he realized that the relationship between form and function can be a stressful one. To get past this tension - and to help designers, architects and artists find new sources of inspiration and success - he wants to share how Gestalt principles can be used to quantify and promote the aesthetic qualities of products, putting form and function in harmony.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
