I have watched many of his videos on RUclips and I find them to be very interesting. People tend to take technology and infrastructure for granted until something goes wrong.
Being what is referred to as a maintenance fitter in Australia I can honestly say preventative maintenance is always better than a critical incident such as a machine breakdown.

We neglect our inpection duties at a cost - inspectors sometimes are undertrained - lax - overworked - utilized inefficiently - underpaid or just mail it in, aka "pencil whip" the work order - any of these - but we do have a designated position for this, and this goes beyond civil engineering inspections, electrical, fire & elevator inspectors are a few more that most that iv'e met in the newly built construction trade are serious, but some in residential are hacks. Homes should be checked for Radon during home purchasing inspections but most buyers do not buy this service inspection because of cost. Radon causes cancer.
