- Опубликовано: 17 окт 2024
- We will discuss about the Puma Infantry Fighting Vehicle, a fully armored combat vehicle with excellent protection and effective direct fire support in the battlefield. The Puma Armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle (AIFV) is a tracked vehicle produced for the German Army by Projekt System & Management (PSM), a joint venture of Rheinmetall Landsysteme and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), under a program authorized by the German Federal Parliament in 2002. It has been in service with German Army since 2015. However, as of August 2021, 350 units of the vehicle had been delivered in total. Previously, the Puma program was known as the Igel and the Neuer Schuetzenpanzer (NsPz).

The Iron Cross looks so handsome on the turret side...! It's a touch of class and distinction.
This thing has an 11.1L 1100hp V10 revving to 4300 RPM. 100 HP/L in a military vehicle. Leave it to the Germans to make a hot rod IFV.
Rides like one too. They always have puke bags on board, no joke.
@@jonny2954 Nein haben wir nicht. 🙂

Freedom of speed is very important in Germany
well. seems impressive but HP/L doesn`t matter

It is a Mk 30 2
2:10 the Lynx has been officially ordered by Hungary and are set to arrive in Hungary starting 2023.
its a good choice to get weapons made all in 1 house. Lynx is also a great platform.
the thing is, that Lynx seems to have major reliability issues etc.
And its protection is very likely not better than Puma
Hungary has ordered the Lynx Kf41 with local production and R&D. Some 218~ pieces of it. Also ordered Spike missiles and SHORAD turret (Skyranger 30)for the platform that will have mistral 3 integrated.
What R&D? This thing has already been developed as a budget version of the Puma.
@@heinzkabofke6791 Not Budget. The Lynx is practically completely designed by Rheinmetall with their weapons systems and subsystems.
The Puma is the effort of the whole German defense industry to build an IFV. It’s systems come from individual companies and not solely from Rheinmetall.
@@ServusIchBins
Puma has the unmanned KMW turret and the sensor package that come with the unmanned fester.
The Lynx has the manned and proven lance turret.

@@JD-uk3vc Nop.e Turned out only 1 of the 18 vehicles actually had faults.
the problem is not on the vehicle side, but on the side of the Bundeswehr, wich scrapped its logistics and maintenance branch in 2011.
due to that, many systems could not be maintained in the Bundeswehr and required external providers.
this is slowly returning to normal operation (with in house maintenance etc), but still the Bundeswehr has some major maintenance problems remaining.
The Puma in question were for weeks in combat excercises prior to the break downs and had only troop level field maintenance done.

Hope that they aren't overly engineered like their equipment was in ww2 causing breakdowns and maintenance nightmares.
Those mechanical troubles they met during WW2 were due exclusively to the almost impossible manufacturing conditions, subjected day and night to massive air raids and to poorly skilled labor, as all men fit for combat were drafted and replaced by women, old men and foreign workers.

It passed after failing once. It also passed NATO qualification and is currently part of VJTF.
Aren't the bullets too small and have no explosive ability ?
Too small for what ? It can penetrate every enemy it is supposed to penetrate, if you encounter a real well armored enemy you can still use the rockets, and don't forget, that it has airburst ammunition aswell. The main purpose is still to keep the crew alive and to support the troops.

I would add a twin 30 mm cannon
Why
the lynx should be less armored than the puma.
KF41 and T15 are both less armored than Puma... only the israel Namer is more heavy armored based on the Merkava Mk IV... but Namer is more a APC than a IFV because it lacks the firepower of a IFV
@@nagmashot not certain about the t 15 but I have to slightly doubt your claimed about the narmer. There is a theoretical version of the puma that would be able to carry as many people as the narmer. 45mm would be amazing with 60mm auto grenade launcher and quad anti tank rockets

This is my best light tank in playing video game. However, Stingers can be really nasty too if not spotted right away the speed of the tank can be useless

If you ask me it still under the performance of Kurganets and T 15 Armata but its clearly better than Lnyx, Bradley and Terminator
both T-15 Armata and Kurganets have not left prototype stage and will very likely never enter production or service, so they are in the end irrelevant

the lynx version, I think. Pumas are not for sale, atm.
Yes, however they had concerns about the vehicle's force protection features, primarily the proposed active protection system and underbody armor, and 20 significant weaknesses which had potential solutions offered that were judged as inadequate. They didn't find any vehicle matching their requirements, so they rebooted the competition. Their new IFV has to be capable to operate optionally unmanned. Drones... Modern warfare has changed for the Western theatre and all Western military's should be adapting their weaponry and tactics to incorporate this , just as Blitzkrieg changed warfare all those years ago with the use of the new weapons so too should they change now... Drone carriers could well be the next IFV for long range engagements followed up by infantry to take and hold the ground after combined arms have destroyed the enemy forces that hold and can engage any troops entering the battle zone. Land warfare may well evolve into a type of warfare more akin to Naval warfare where ships would not see each other but engage and destroy their opponent. Just my thoughts , but a long time ago I did a survey about drones in warfare and stated that drones could change the battlefield in a massive way. We are seeing some of it in Ukraine right now , but the potential of drones has still not been unlocked anywhere near where they evolve to.

It looks heavy and expensive for being an infantry fighting vehicle, like the hull is too close to being the hull of a tank.
It is made for the German Army, we have a specialised unit which is called "Panzergrenadier".
It means higher protection for the infantry they carry ! That's what money is for.
@@pedrolistacarey4880 if you can't think beyond "weight = protection", then you should ask why they didn't make a tank like Merkava (which can also do troop transport) instead of an IFV. Heavy vehicles makes the fuel consumption higher and it becomes less mobile - especially on soft ground. Do I really need to explain why that is important? Which one is best protected, the one that is stuck or the one that can swiftly cross plains without refueling? Take your time to answer.
@@daniel931016 the merkava can not transport infatriy units as an IFV. It can carry a few guys if needed but only for emergenxies and has to leavve a lot of ammo for this. the most advanced infantry fighting vehicle is t15 armata , nice try
Later production date does not necessarily mean more advanced. Lynx KF41 and AS21 Redback also have later production dates than the Puma but just like the T-15 they do not incorporate as much advanced technology as the Puma. Armata running gear only have the first and last 2 roadhweel pairs on hydropneumatic suspension, the center ones are torsion bar. Puma has a full hydropneumatic suspension, which is additionally also fully decoupled. Power density on the Puma powerpack is also significantly higher. Optronics isn't even a topic, that point goes to Hensoldt. Pumas main armament is airburst-capable. T-15 is not. Neither the 30 nor the 57 mm module.
Considering the vehicle size and weight the Puma is apparently also better protected, weighting just 7 tons less at less than 60% of the protected volume.
Were is the armata???? It still never seen on a combat field - the truth is that it is just a demonstarator, 10 years away from combat readyness.
