Omg, this is exactly what I needed to see. Lost my husband of 42yrs- 1 1/2 years ago. So thanks to beautiful people like you, I can do it myself (the fix it gandma😂). Thank you so- so much💞
Sheila, Thanks so much for your comment. I’m glad it worked out well for you. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Great video. Many of the water lines are 1/4 in. And use 1/4 in attachments. I literally had the same problem today when installing. Their was a small puncture on one of the main lines from the fridge and I wanted to fix it. Went 3 trips to lowes and talked to an associate. We couldn't find an 1/4 in. coupling that would fit because the main line is to wide in diameter. Now I know what to get tomorrow. 5/16 coupler. Thank you again sir.
Thank you, we recently discovered our line had a tiny hole, which looks like probably from a kink in the line that finally burst since the line was installed over a decade ago. I will try the Sharkbite rather than figuring out how to install a totally new line, which means i have to find where it terminates under the fridge, because it does not terminate at the rear. I assume you measure the tube outer diameter as you did here because I got confused with the 32nd markings on your ruler.
I just hit the subscribe button. I have a water line to a fridge that has exactly this problem. Im hoping to fix it as easily as you did. 🙏 *EDIT* : I did exactly what Big Al said to do and it was a smashing success!!! Initially when I got the leak, no lie, I panicked a little and just bought some flex seal tape. That shit didnt work at all. Maybe it does on other projects, but for this, the water just found its way out. So Thats when I found Big Al. Im *SO* thankful I did. $15 on a roll of flex tape vs. $2.50 for the shark bite / plastic splice. Big Al's way was cheaper and far more efficient. Thanks again!!
Well, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an amazing comment. That is so kind of you to do that. I wish you the best with all of your DIY projects. Thanks so much for subscribing to big Al repairs.
That is a great question. In doing a little bit of research, I’ve read both. I’ve had mine on for over two years and haven’t had a problem. I think if you it is installed correctly, I think the warranty is like 25 years. I would check the package and see what the recommendation is as far as warranty. Best of luck and I’m glad it worked out And hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
reminder to all --- make sure line isn't touching your hot water lines anywhere on it's journey to your refrigerator. I replaced my whole line when I got a new refrigerator thinking I was being smart fixing something old before it failed and learned the hard way a year later when the thing popped a leak against a hot water line and leaked for probably 36 hours in my basement drop ceiling. Lucky it was near sump and didn't permanently damage anything.
Thank you so much for your suggestion. That is so true. You always want to make sure your line is not going to be in contact with something that may cause it to break. I’m so glad it did not cause a lot of damage. Best of luck with your future DIY projects and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.

that is a great question. If you look at the tape measure again, you’ll see that it is 5/16. Johnny, thanks so much for your comment. So sorry that it did not work. Did you use the shark bite connector? If you did make sure that the lines have a straight cut and after you insert the line into the shark bite make sure that you pull the line back out to secure the connection. Please give us an update on how you fixed the problem. Thanks.
