My water line broke and I called for repairman but he didn't call back. I searched for videos to help fix my problem and came across yours. It cost me just over $7 for the Shark Bite Quick Connect coupling from Lowe's. Thanks for the video. The repairman called after the fix. I told him what I did; he congratulated me and said he would have done the same thing
Thank you for sharing. I was able to repair my fridge in few minutes after watching your clip. This is my story. After replacing the water filter on my LG refrigerator lg model # lsc23924st, one of the water lines into the fridge broke! I drove to Home Depot and picked a 5/16" union coupling. I dispensed 3 gallons of water to clean the filter, and there was no leak.
I can’t thank you enough! After watching your video, I fixed our leak with a John Guest 1/4 in. x 1/4 in. White Polypropylene PTC Union from Home Depot for under $6! It look less than a minute.
Awesome job! Totally impressed that you were able to find a work around for the problem. Kudos for crawling under the house and determining where the problem was. You saved a ton of money over hiring a plumber to troubleshoot and repair!!!
I have the same issue with my leak. I thought the shutoff valve was under the kitchen sink but that isn't the case. Any ideas where it may be in my crawlspace? I'm guessing somewhere where the plastic line is in the crawlspace.
Previous owner of my property had a pipe installed at the wall for piped fridge water. it has a 20mm metal pipe. the LG fridge I bought has a 10mm pipe with a 10mm to 30mm pipe adaptor... I looked and cannot find a 20mm to 10mm adaptor so I have to use the LG 30 to 10 mm then a 20 to 30mm adaptor... its super crazy LG didn't bother to just include different adaptors.
Thank you- i did this method and it worked for a week, now water is spraying from out of one of the connectors. Is there another way to repair this ? My line is a 5/16.. is there a hose that i can hose-clamp splice ?
I am looking for those lil clips you insert after placing the hose inside the connector. What is that? I’ve gone to several stores, they don’t know what that is Can you please help
Thank you for the very helpful video. We bought a union coupling from Home Depot and fixed the water line leaking problem easily, without having to pay a plumber!
Yea, I did the exact same thing for a 2011 Samsung fridge and at first it worked great. However, pin hole leaks kept creeping up in other areas of the water line hose. I fixed it like this with similar parts. I even put some water sensor alarms behind the fridge to detect water leakage. At first, they worked great as I had 2 more leaks & alarms went off. I was then able to shut off water early enough and repair as needed. However, after the 4th leak occurred under the fridge and didn't reach the sensors, I had to totally turn the water line off from the wall & keep it off as it was causing too many headaches. Not to mention more damage occurring in my finished basement. A great method & solution as long as other leaks don't turn up. This is also probably due to a 12+ yr old fridge. Luckily, I have a another (Kenmore) ice making fridge in basement that works great so for now we are simply bringing ice up to the kitchen Samsung fridge cause the dispenser still works perfectly fine. I am currently researching trying to replace ALL the water lines in my Samsung fridge. Could be tricky and a hassle. Another easy option is a counter ice maker instead. Will see.
Thankyou I just got a new fridge and the delivery guys broke my pipe end taking it off the old fridge. Was worrying I’d have to run a new line. I will see if I can do this and put a new end piece on
I had 2 pin holes in the same place and it went crazy one nite leaking and I was sure it was a roof leak. Don't know why I did not think of the sharkbite compression link. Thank you!!!
Wish I had seen this video before I replaced the entire water line hose and connectors. Same problem as you. A tiny hole in the hose was spitting out water. Soaked the floor all the way through to the basement. Turned off fridge water and I left it for about a month before I replaced it and turned the water back on. Nothing! Water line is now frozen! Arrgghh! - Charlie Brown.
It would have made sense for you to just remove a 6 inch segment of the old hose, joining the old hose pieces together... forget about the new hose entirely and only create one coupling.
I don't know what you guys are talking about... he could have done without that 6 inch blue segment and gotten the job done with only one coupling. I'm not hating on him - I'm just pointing out another approach that I think would have been superior. I appreciate the video - I watched it just before I had to do a similar job.
I was moving my fridge to a new location and noticed the water line was attached to the fridge but we don't use the water from.the fridge. I got frustrated trying to remove the brass fitting that I ended up cutting the clesr water line.. yeah I know.. and now I am here. I need to insert one of them Teflon fittings or brass..
Most new refrigerators that were made with water they will have a certain amount already called up in between protective cover in the bottom if you pull your bottom drawers out and you have clear protective cover you will be able to see the hose is about four feet in a circle you won't have to buy any new you just use what's there already stored in your refrigerator some are not see-through you have to take this protective cover off and there you'll see your extra water line it is rolled up and it has zip tie to keep it coiled up and out of the way always check before you go buy new hose like this guy did now he don't have any other use for the rest of that unless he's going to make him a water bath for the bird's.,.. yes I know a guy who did that he KNEW HE had water tube in frig so he did this an used the same connecters as this guy ... He had to surprise his wife and he did alright he hatton mopped up the water 💦 you got to have a little water when you disconnect the pipe he had it all put back he did not push the refrigerator back in place she come home from work water and her newly mop floor refrigerator out all kind of group spilt in the refrigerator because he's trying to pull it and now she had to clean her refrigerator out it was more trouble for him that the birdbath was worth to her so always use common sense if you're going to do something clean your mess up inside and outside if you really want to surprise her remark her freshly mopped and waxed floors
This does not work. Very disappointed. I'll explain. Some refrigerators have 2 water lines: one that is to the water source and one that feeds to the ice machine. If the one to the source leaks, this works. BUT if it's the tube that's welded into the fridge. GG you need a new fridge. Tried this method and it leaks profusely. measured out the ID and OD as needed at lowes and still the sharkbite doesn't grip that custom/original water line. Sadly gorilla tape was more effective a remedy until we had to replace the water filter. then the psi surge popped the tape. Additionally HD/LOW doesn't sell the sharkbite with the couplings no more.
LOL.. why would you replace one linear foot of tubing? Just cut out that foot of tubing and join up the parts that are still good! You wasted money buying tubing if that's all you did. Also, I just bought a connection with 5/16" - 1/4", made by John Guest, but doesn't require a little locking ring to keep it in. Home depot had it for $10.00 Canadian instead of paying for a whirlpool part $34.00+. Another place wanted $57.00 and had to order it. I read, you should change your tubing throughout the water system in your fridge water dispenser and freezer ice cube maker every 3-5 years. No way Im doing that! LOL... They recommend getting it cleaned out with vinegar also... by someone who knows how! I have no idea how they would pump vinegar through the system. (to clear out Mold) The reason for changing the tubing is that the tubing dries out and cracks... so, you are probably in for some more cracks! Unless you backed your fridge up and pinched the tube??? I tape my tubing up onto the back of the fridge, up off the floor! I also had slow water from my dispenser. Found out over the last week of searching videos that it is actually because the builders of our house, Minto, put in a saddle valve on the water pipe to run a tube from, to the fridge... the water can't get through fast enough to dispense the water well. We thought it was normal...for 23 years.. LOL... just figured it out now! It was taking 45 seconds to fill a 12 ounce glass... OMG... Then I googled how long it should take and it should take about 8-10 seconds. Wayyyy faster! So, gonna change that ... maybe I'll make a video and post it! Maybe... Hope this helps others, Cheers..

Just tried your method, and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the video.
The line to my water dispenser broke right in back where I could easily get to it. Your video saved me a service call. Many thanks!
Thank you. Your video was exactly what I needed. Lowes and Home Depot now have repair kits containing the hose and connectors.
I can’t thank you enough! After watching your video, I fixed our leak with a John Guest

I feel like I can crawl into anything after that nasty cabin remodel lol. Thanks Poor Man

Thanks for the tip
Just needed the 1/4 inch connector and had to remember to remove the inside cap.😂😂😂
Just used that little connector to repair our broken fridge line! Love RUclips!
Did you manage to shut off your water line? I thought mine was under my kitchen sink but that isn't the case.
@@DonFazio we ended just shutting off the whole house to make the repair.
@@gretchenminx2515 That's one way to do it ...

Where do you get the hose and exstenders
Thank you- i did this method and it worked for a week, now water is spraying from out of one of the connectors.
Is there another way to repair this ?
My line is a 5/16.. is there a hose that i can hose-clamp splice ?
I've had to change couplings every cpl years n now a simple swap didn't work so im curious if anyone answers this question..
I am looking for those lil clips you insert after placing the hose inside the connector. What is that? I’ve gone to several stores, they don’t know what that is

What are the adapters? Size of them?
Where did you get the connectors?
where do you buy the connectors? where do you buy the tubing?
where can you buy the connectors?
Hey Tommy! I got mine on Amazon - amzn.to/3Yg2o7q

Did you end up replace your fridge line?
do you have a connector that fits a 1/8" tubing?
We're do I get them at
What are these connections called?
They call them Quick Connect Tube Fittings. Usually 1/4" in size. amzn.to/3Yg2o7q
What’s the connector called?
Thankyou I just got a new fridge and the delivery guys broke my pipe end taking it off the old fridge. Was worrying I’d have to run a new line. I will see if I can do this and put a new end piece on
What are the lil connecter clippers u used called?? Are the actually for water holes?

I had 2 pin holes in the same place and it went crazy one nite leaking and I was sure it was a roof leak. Don't know why I did not think of the sharkbite compression link. Thank you!!!
Ok, so where did you source the hose and hose fittings? That would be helpful.
I have it all linked in the description of the video
I have same issue but the connect thing I bought don’t have a clip hmm
After 4 tries, I DID it!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Im struggling to figure out how to plug the line into the wall where the valve is
'plugging in to the fridge is easy,' but how do you remove? Without clip it still seems secure!
Has anyone installed the push to connect coupling while the plastic line was wet? I'm having an issue finding my water shutoff valve.
Where can you get this line couplings??
Great demo. Thank you
Where do I find the connector?
Amazing!! Thanks for your help!
Did your floor level back out after it dried out or is it still warped?
It’s forever warped until I sand it and refinish. 😥
But it’s not quite as warped as it was when wet
What clips? We did not have any.
Nice work!

It seems his water line is short, and pulling it out without disconnecting the hose, is convenient...

@@joefitzy no I agree. But was just trying to put myself in his shoes
I hope you are using potable water tubing!
Future consider just replacing it with flexible SS line. Purchase the SS line and one adapter coupler.
Just watched your video so I can take water filter off my line and reconnect my refrigerator ice maker.

always cut the tubing with a very sharp razor or you risk damaging the seal in the coupling
it will crack again, always us 1/4" copper

Way over complicated all you had to do was cut off the bad section and use one coupling you have more than enough hose to make it
sorry water line adapters
if you can't get this hose why in the world are you telling this? duh!
you can get the hose. I have it linked in the video description - available at Amazon
I love plastic
Yeah you didn't need that blue line.... Just a coupling
