    I always say it, I am just so glad that the world is moving away from docking and cropping. Look at that Doberman, such beauty when fully intact, and certainly no decreased functionality.

      Hannes Sturm If the dog is a working dog breed. Many working dog breeds such as the Boxer and Doberman have thin tails that can break easily just by wagging it against something. Hunting dogs such as the Brittany can get their tail hurt in thick brush. Herding dogs like Corgies and Australian Cattle Dogs can get their tails crushed by cattle. As for cropping, it can actually prevent infections and make the ears easier to clean. Cropping and docking isn’t as “barbaric” as many people claim. The dogs don’t remember their tails being docked as they are only a couple of days old when it happens. As for it being painful, we will probably never know about that as docking is done when the nervous system isn’t fully developed. Cropping is done under anesthesia and as long as the dog takes its painkillers it will be less painful. Besides, even if docking and cropping can maybe be traumatic, studies have shown that altering is much more traumatic, especially if the dog is an adult when altered. So yeah, I am for cropping and docking, but only for working dogs.

    • @jaegerthedane3245
      @jaegerthedane3245 6 лет назад +1

      Kads R It isn’t strangling, those collars are used to keep the head up which is required in a dog show. If the collar is kept at the neck the dog could pull, if it’s kept closer to the head it establishes more control. Trust me, it isn’t strangling and the dogs do enjoy these dog shows.

      Anita Johnston the zdobernan looks ridiculous as does the bouvier. I am actually appalled at the poor quality overall. The Bullmastiff and the Dane are the only really nice dogs in their. The rest are pet quality at best. Hard to watch this. So much unsoundness and just ugly. Brits can’t groom worth a shit either. If these are best I don’t want to see the rest.

    • @ashb.3945
      @ashb.3945 5 лет назад +1

      It should be if you ask me. However most of the people at Crufts breed the variety without straight backs, and therefore they place them in the pastoral group. Most working line German Shepherds in the police force I have seen have straight backs. I think it just depends honestly.

    • @karinjohansson7262
      @karinjohansson7262 5 лет назад

      No they are in Herding group.

    • @linthoisanayumnam4376
      @linthoisanayumnam4376 4 года назад

      The name German shepherd implies that they are herding dogs, so they are placed in the pastoral group of the KC (UK). They are originally herding dogs, but are used in other activities because of their strength, high intelligence, excellent obedience, trainability and curious, protective temperament.

      The Caucasian Shepherd is classified FSS under AKC rules, however I believe it is generally accepted as working group. I am not sure how Crufts defines it, or if they even consider it a breed yet. You can look at more info for yourself here: www.akc.org/dog-breeds/caucasian-shepherd-dog/

    Crufts is good for the agility and the flyball and basically everything but the 'judging'. It's fucking embarrassing that any example of the mastiff type is willing to to be prodded and pushed by a complete stranger. Any knowledge of breeds of the mastiff type will tell you this is wholly unnatural. Showing also has considerable affects on the health of breeds. Look at the health problems that come with extreme examples of brachycephalic skulls and sloping backs for example. Nobody should contribute to this. Dogs should be judged on the traits the breed was bred to have as well as it's health and some relatively vague appearance notes. Such as size, coat colour and shape

    • @wendyrowland7787
      @wendyrowland7787 7 лет назад +1

      Thank goodness Crufts have classes now that show the ability of talented dogs. Some of the pedigree breeding is, in my view questionable when concentrating just on breed standards without paying attention to intelligence and temperament. Too many problems are found in closely bred dogs. The kennel club wanted to impose a standard on the Border collie with it's diverse appearance but unquestionable talent. But don't you just love that German Pinscher?

    • @jaegerthedane3245
      @jaegerthedane3245 6 лет назад

      While I do agree with you about the health problems, please know that this is a dog show. In a dog show, the dogs must allow a stranger to examine them. As such, no matter the breed, they must be extremely well behaved. However, there is the exception with the Fila Brasilerio, which must be examined by the handler because of their extreme distrust of strangers.

      Kai Hughes-wilkes It’s jogging, and it’s required in a dog show as it’s more to establish the dog’s stride.
