Absolutely agree. My first 3 dogs were Huskies and after having American Akitas for more than 30 years, adopted a 9 year old Husky August 2022. But this one shouldn't have won the group. Ears are a bit big, tail is not correct (should be carried over the back with the tip touching the topline) and he's overal just a bit too lightly build. Even for a Husky. The Malamute should have won with the Tibet Mastiff on second place.
I've had a giant schnauzer and a Rottweiler. Love the working group, amazing beautiful dogs with wonderful temperaments. Also, I haven't watched a dog show in several years and cannot express my happiness in no longer seeing the cropped ears and docked tails! Yay for keeping dogs the way they were made!
Great group ..one or two were at a disadvantage with owners who couldn’t move their dogs at desired pace as the owner unfit pulling dog back so unable to stride out good or bad handlers can be the difference between winning or not ....!
Akitas are the best dogs ever. Definitely not a beginners dog, but if you are a strong leader, the bond with an akita can be the most rewarding thing in the world.
