Excellent selection of stories ! I don't think you have to restrict yourself to American stories . I tried Voice Over work once - after telling everyone how easy it was .. Within the first minute ; my throat went dry ; my voice rose an octave ; my breathing was too loud.....etc.etc. .Unless you've tried it you wouldn't believe how nerve wracking it is. As you know ! I managed about 1 page in the first 35 minutes . That was 1 page out of 38. Thankfully the producer showed mercy and called it a day. So, I appreciate good reading like yours !
Two's company and three's trumpery! Never heard of that word before so had to look it up. I wonder if that was the expression b4 two's company and three's a crowd came along.
I love the stories you pick from Edith Wharton. I read this years ago but it's even more spooky with you reading it. Keep up the good work. I so want your channel to grow. You are one of the few good readers without a British accent and I can think of several American stories I'd love to hear you do if you are open to suggestions.
There are some very bad readers with British accents ! They seem to be suffering from a delusion that they sound like James Mason. !! I'm British and I'm perfectly happy with North American ( incl Canadian ) readers !
@@2msvalkyrie529 I guess I am fortunate to have missed those. I think readers from any location can be good as long as the don't drone monotonously and enunciate clearly.
I think Mr Randford was hiding in the dressing room and she was trying to protect them both from the husband catching them? But the mistress died of fright/a weak heart anyway? He says that he’s going to meet a “friend” in the dressing room, so he clearly suspects that Ranford is there. Mrs Brympton is also dressed even though it’s the middle of the night, and she’s very harsh in dismissing Hartley, which would only really make sense if she had him there. Secondly, she is literally scared to death at the news her husband has shown up unexpectedly, which he clearly did to try to bust them together, and she wouldn’t be so freaked out unless he was actually there. Also, Emma’s ghost turning up in the doorway did prevent him from searching the dressing room, and it would make sense that she would only want to do that if he was there.
Seriously?....That's the end?? A bit too much of a tale left untold, but the story was compelling, until that abrupt ending, and you, of course made it a good read, to that affect.
Yeah, what happened there? what do you mean, 'and you of course, made it a good read, to that affect?" Because he didn't read the rest of the story? I'd like to know if that really was the end of the story.
@@sugarfalls1 ...Yes, I meant that-aside from the facts I mentioned, he 'read' the story well...a good reader, but I have found he ends many stories abruptly.
@@paulafeudo5504 Thanks for replying! Wow, that's weird. I wonder why? This is a story I'd like to know the end of and Edith Wharton was a great writer.
@@sugarfalls1 ...I found the link, and the story ends exactly the same. Oh well, here you go: americanliterature.com/author/edith-wharton/short-story/the-ladys-maids-bell
I have no idea what this was about, what was the ghost trying to do? Why did the wife die? What was the significance of the neighbor having to walk with a cane? I’ll have to see if I can find some literary notes on the story for an explanation. Well read however
So, this one, i’d like to know what Emma was supposed to be trying to say. this story has left me dissatisfied. did i miss something? or is it another story with no reason and no conclusion on purpose again. we really finally get no definite reasons for anything that happens in life. we make up reasons to account for events that are really quite random? something to think about.
Interesting story, loved the old creepy mansion. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed rest of the week end.
nicely read..no drama a peek? into another world..written..
Thank you. Lovely reading and very relaxing.😊
A lovely reading of a great tale! This would make a perfect bedtime story.
Thank you
Wonderful! Thank you!

My appologies, I must have missed something. What did the ghost want?
Me too....I didn't understand the end at all.
Good question.. My take on it is that she wanted to protect her mistress from her jealous husband and was asking the new maid to do the same

If you're not going to read the whole story, you give people a warning beforehand!
Don't know what to tell you. Not only is that the whole story but it's a famous story, so you can easily check that it's the whole story.
