  • As Willie Perkins told Southern Rock Insider in a two part interview, there are two living people from the front cover of the Allman Brothers' historic live recording "At Fillmore East" - Dickey Betts and Jaimoe as well as two living people on the back cover - roadie Kim Payne and Willie himself. Willie was the road manager of the ABB at the time after taking over for Twiggs Lyndon, who happened to be incarcerated when the photo was taken. #AtFillmoreEast #AllmanBrothers #WilliePerkins

You two ol' boys better straighten up and fly right.
Thanks to both of you for this. Precious memories, how they linger. Gentlemen, be safe, happy and healthy.

Twiggs Lyndon was in jail at the time the cover photos were taken, but they put an individual photo of him up above on the back cover. He was later released from jail and rejoined the band. Twiggs died in November of 1979 in a skydiving incident near Duanesburg New York. One reason the ABB-LAFE album cover is my favorite of all time is that they were appreciative enough of their crew to put them all (including Twiggs) on the back cover. Very cool, like everything else about the album!

So where exactly was the picture taken? I understand it was down that alley but is there any way of knowing EXACTLY where?

It was both, an "eightball". I cringe at the thought. Self destructive southern rockers.
