  • The Q2 Air is the new budget entry level grinder from 1Zpresso and retails for $50USD.
    The Air is a re-skinned version of the Q2 Heptagonal grinder and has a hard plastic body sleeve and hard plastic catch cup instead of the regular metal sleeve and catch cup that you find with the Q2 Heptagonal grinder.
    However the Q2 Air has the same excellent 38mm 7 core Heptagonal burrs that you also find with the regular Q2 Heptagonal grinder and also the same 25 microns grind adjustments.
    So basically you are getting pretty much the same same grinder for half the price of the Q2 Heptagonal.
    In this video i do a quick unboxing and a side by side comparison of the Q2 Air and Q2 Heptagonal and give a few thoughts on the grinder.

    I just bought a Q2 Air and I'm very satisfied with it. It's my first manual grinder.

      You’re welcome! I can get the metal Q2 7 burr mode for an extra 20 US dollars over the price of the Q Air. You think it’s worth the extra 20 dollars? Thanks.

    Mind the burrs are not exactly identical - in Q2 S is slightly taller

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  6 месяцев назад +1

      Actually you are correct. The Q2 Air inner burrs are 18mm tall and the Q2 Heptagonal inner burrs are 20mm tall and both are 30mm wide.

    I prefere the band because it is Harder to find one that fits on Qair.
    Besides that, that brush sucks for cleaning, it is to soft.

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  5 месяцев назад

      Haha i totally agree. The brush that they give you with the Q2 is like the makeup brush that my wife uses, its not very good at all.
      I changes mine for a paintbrush that i had lying around, the bristles are a little harder so its much better for getting into the burrs and inside the grinder.

      I was actually going to be a dealer for Kingrinder, but they chose someone to be their sole trader and i did not want to deal through a 3rd party for their products.
      The Kingrinder products are actually pretty decent and well made. The best thing about there grinder range is that they have smaller microns (step adjustments) right across there range. So even their cheapest grinder has a decent amount of fine grind range for Espresso.
      The P2 is still a pretty new product and there is not a lot of information about this range yet (even on the Kingrinder website) but i am really tempted to look again at dealing with Kingrinder and if i do get my hands on any of these new P series grinders i will definitely do a review.

      I totally agree, its worth the price for just the burrs alone. I really have to fight with 1Zpresso to get any relevant information from them about their grinders, they just kind of announce that they have a new grinder available, but dont really tell me much about the specs, so i have to figure it out myself.
      Right after i finished making this video, i noticed that they are saying that the grinder is "region specific" but they dont bother saying what regions.
      However they do this with quite a few of their products, so its worth you checking out if there are any 1Zpresso dealers where you are and if not, i have a good feeling that you can order this grinder directly from 1Zpresso.

    worth to buy? i have hario mini slim

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  8 месяцев назад +2

      If you are looking to upgrade from the Hario, yes this is a decent upgrade. The stainless steel 7 core Heptagonal burrs alone make the Q2 Air far superior to your Hario grinder.
      The Q2 Air is far more consistent with far less inconsistent particles, the flavour profile from the Q2 Air is on par with the Comandante C40 (pretty much the same burrs as the C40).
      The grind speed is also going to be a lot faster for the Q2 because of the burrs and the stabilization and because all the important parts are made of metal.
      The only downside is the capacity for the Q2 Air is smaller than the Hario grinder. But honestly for about $10USD more the Q2 Air is far better than the Hario Mini Slim.

      ok thank you its taest same as q2s?i was save to buy q2 but i can buy Q air easy without saving pls give me final save for q2 or q air is same just plastic body?

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  8 месяцев назад +1

      Honestly if you want to save some money and dont mind the two plastic parts (body sleeve and catch cup) the Q2 Air is practically the same grinder for half the price. The burrs are exactly the same as the Q2 Heptagonal grinder and have the same flavour profile and the same consistency.

  • @JOHNOSA
    @JOHNOSA 8 месяцев назад

    thank you compare to c3 which have better consistency?i want buy one just consistency is important for me

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  8 месяцев назад +2

      It depends on what Timeore version you are talking about, the C3 Pro or the C3S Pro, obviously the C3S is a full metal grinder, si its going to be more consistent than the C3 Pro.
      Personally i would have to say that all three grinders would be about equal for consistency, the Q2 Air has the better burrs and the Q2 Air burr mount was taken directly from the Q2 Heptagonal grinder.
      These burrs do not need any support frames for stabilization like the Timemore grinders (the Timemore grinders with plastic parts inside the grinder that can loose consistency over time)
      Even the better C3S Pro has these stabilization inserts inside the body that holds the burr shaft in place, they have screws that hold them in place and i would say that these screws are a weak point over time.
      The Q2 Air is about $50USD, the C3 Pro is about $75USD and the C3S Pro is about $90USD so we are talking about very cheap entry level stainless steal grinders here.
      I would argue that even the cheapest Q2 Air is equal to the consistency of the C3 Pro and probably just as consistent as the C3S Pro, at least to a level that you would not really notice the difference, but the Q2 Air is nearly have the price of the C3S Pro.

  • @JOHNOSA

    1zpresso says 2/3 for q air consistency and 3/3 for q2s
    you see any diffrent?

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  8 месяцев назад +2

      I tested the Q2 Air for Pour over a few times using medium roasted beans. I also tested it out a few times with manual Espresso makers, like the Wacaco products and an electric Espresso machine using a pressurised porta filter with medium/dark roast beans.
      Too be honest I did not notice any difference. Maybe a second or two draw down speed for my Pour over, but that could have been anything including my technique.
      1Zpresso have rated the consistency of the Q2 Air as being 2/3 but I certainly did not notice the consistency being a 3rd worse than the Q2 Heptagonal grinder.
      Like I mentioned in my Q2 Air video, the actual important parts are the burrs and the burrs fittings and these are exactly the same as the Q2 Heptagonal grinder, so logically the Air should be just the same consistency as the Heptagonal grinder.
      The plastic parts are just the sleeve and catch cup and these two parts don’t have any part in the grinding process so shouldn’t affect the grinding consistency.
      So I am not really sure why 1Zpresso have done that.

    hey again i bought it now want whats grinde seting for moka pot pour over and FP?

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  8 месяцев назад

      Hi, the 1Zpresso recommended grind size for Moka Pot, Espresso (pressurised basket) and Aeropress is between 12 and 18.
      Pour over is between 18 and 24
      French press is between 24 and 28
      Use this link 1zpresso.coffee/grind-setting/
      Then scroll down and you will see the grind reference chart for the Q2 grinder (its called Q grinder here but its the Q2 grinder)

    • @JOHNOSA
      @JOHNOSA 8 месяцев назад

      somewhere i see 42 for moka you say 18?!?

    • @mightymightyironhead
      @mightymightyironhead  8 месяцев назад

      Actually that's not 100% correct, its 48 and not 42 if you are talking about clicks and not numbers. Clicks are the fine adjustments between each number on the adjustment dial, if you prefer to count the clicks, that's still ok, whatever works best for you.
      The Q2 has 3 full rotations that cover all the different brew types.
      Each full rotation has 10 numbers and each number has 4 clicks between them.
      So you have (from the burrs fully closed/zero point)
      0 . . . . 01 . . . . 02 . . . . 03 . . . . 04 . . . . 05 . . . . 06 . . . . 07 . . . . 08 . . . . 09 . . . . 0 = 1 (one full rotation)
      1 . . . . 11 . . . . 12 . . . . 13 . . . . 14 . . . . 15 . . . . 16 . . . . 17 . . . . 18 . . . . 19 . . . . 0 = 2 (two full rotations)
      2 . . . . 21 . . . . 22 . . . . 23 . . . . 24 . . . . 25 . . . . 26 . . . . 27 . . . . 28 . . . . 29 . . . . 0 = 3 (three full rotations)
      The dots between each number are fine adjustments (clicks) so for each full rotation you have 40 clicks.
      The grind range for Aeropress/Moka pot/Drip coffee starts at 12 (48 clicks) and ends at 18 ( 72 clicks)
