Some remarks of my own, and I managed to form Super Germany as Prussia within 9 years with NO WAR:
Unrival Austria and improve relations from day 1,
Bankroll only the German states not in your customs union (including Luxemburg, don't attack them),
With majors on your side Austria will give up, thus not damaging relations, so you now bankroll them.
When you have Austria's obligation and 50 relations, they will support your unification.
If some German nation quits the customs union just bankroll them to get the obligation.
And so, I had a obligation from every German nation (including Luxemburg) and formed SG in 1845. Plus, no country remained outside, like Hamburg did in this video.

I had a multiplayer game where there was no Prussia but an Austrian player who threw waging wars brought down Prussia to a minor power to where they were forced to join the German confederacy. it was very cursed
you just need one war tbh, just go to take the capital and after a while they'll fall down to minor

I was playing Japan and Supergermany formed around 1906. They decided it was vital to participate in any conflict I formed and that it was their manifest destiny to conquer Kyoto.

Personally I've found it easier to start as Austria when the goal is forming Super Germany. A player can easily whip the Austrian army into shape and build an economy to bankroll German minor states into joining your market and therefore supporting you.

I did it by humiliating Austria and conquering Bohemia when I did the Brothers War. Some time later they had to default their debt so they lost even more prestige turning them into major power, then I just did the regular unification play

I tried it out and it worked out nicely. Though it took a few years to raise Austria's opinion of me enough to let me bankroll them. I got it done by 1852 if I remember correctly.
This sounds like the rl plan of france to join the UK during WW2
This solution to the "German Question" (what happens to the former HRE after Napoleon destroyed it?) was actually considered, but it was dismissed because of the rivalry between Austria and Prussia. This was called the Greater Austrian Solution, then there was the Greater German Solution (Germany including the German speaking parts of the Habsburg empire, leaving an independent Hungary) and then the Lesser German Solution, OTL German Empire.
i loved doing this in vic 2
Germany did this in my 2th game, I played as lahej and came close to forming arabia with russia's help. Then supergermany came into existance and steamroled russia's economy. I was in the russian market, so my economy crashed aswell, then i joined the italian market (they where number 2 gp) Germany did it again. Then i tried to just mind my own business, and germany had the combined gdp of italy, france and russia....

Honestly just taking austria and bohemia without the balkan land is probably better since youll have higher literacy and your pops will be more homogenous

is not hard to from supergemany, playing as prussia you can have all the german land in 1840 or 41 with a unification play, then you improve with austria until they approve you, and them form germany...
