I’m an adult and went with metal and couldn’t be happier. He’s right about being able to put more force on with metal braces. More force equals faster movement.

So for those that are concerned about being metal mouths when getting braces. You have another option outside these two: Sapphire Braces. What they don’t tell you about ‘clear/ceramic braces’ is that it’s not clear AT ALL. It’s white. That means, if your teeth aren’t perfectly white or even a little bit yellow, the brackets will stand out and will defeat the whole purpose of you getting ‘clear braces’. Sapphire braces are better because they are in fact transparent and will adjust to what color your teeth are. Plus, they’re made out of sapphire so they’re not as brittle as the ceramic ones. They don’t stain as well.

This video was very helpful because I wanted to hear from an actual orthodontist what the difference is between metal braces versus clear ones although I have my mind set on being a metal mouth for 2yrs. 😁 I'm 47 years young and am so looking forward to getting metal my braces soon.

@@BlackIsBeautifullyMe Thanks for asking. I'm getting them in April. I have an appointment in a few days to have my upper wisdom teeth removed and within a few weeks I'll be ready for my braces. I'll be uploading a video when I get them.
Oh okay I have mine now and it hurts to eat but it's been 5 days and its finally feeling better

I absolutely love my ceramic braces!
Prices for both are the same. The reason I choose ceramic was how less visible it was. (I could take a picture and noone would even notice them!)At the same time I was quite worried about the negative comments such as staining and how it easily gets broken. However after 3 months of having them I can honestly say that I’m so GLAD I choose ceramic. I choose silver bands and have never had a problem with staining. My brackets broke once right after I got my braces put it. Mainly because the glue didn’t hold properly. Since then everything has been great. There has been so much improvements on my teeth just after these 3 months.
Tips: Wearing silver accessories such as earring, necklaces, etc. complemented the braces!
I’m 38 had to repeat braces, decided to go with the clear, so far so good only one month in, hopefully I don’t have to wear them to long, I just had minor issues and spacing. I will wear my retainer n not forget after this process, the cost is a little more than metal.

@Quast orthodontics I have ceramic braces on the top and rhodium on the bottom .. and I’ve noticed my bottom teeth that have the rhodium are straightening a lot faster than my top teeth that have ceramic brackets... is there a reason why ? I don’t know if it’s just me or do the rhodium work better or do teeth shift differently ?

Are ceramic braces harder than tooth enamel? Can the ceramic braces scratch or damage your upper teeth when they are placed on your bottom teeth?
1. They are not harder.
2. No, it won't damage your upper teeth.

I think ceramics looks cool with colored bands too! I’m in my mid 40s and want to switch to these (currently 4 weeks into Invisalign and experiencing jaw pain due to clinching the trays).
I just got my braces on today. I requested ceramic, but they said my teeth were too crazy for ceramic and I needed something a bit more heavy duty lollll. I wasn’t completely upset by it. I’m just glad to finally have braces after wanting them for SO many years. I turn 20 in just a few weeks (Jan. 27)! 🤭

I can not. I don't have access to those brackets. However, I have used them before. They are smaller and self ligating, which means they do not need to be tied in with traditional steel ties or elastic ties. They have pros and cons. For a clinician they are quick and easy if they function properly. If the doors break they have to be replaced. Hope this helps:)

Does ceramic brackets takes more time to adjust teeth to its original position than metal braces?like i got a gap between some of my teeth because of wisdom teeth .so ,which type is best for me?
They a little slower… maybe it whould be a month or two difference. I don’t think it’s a big deal personally

I had my ortho consultation today. I told him in the beginning that I wanted metal braces, (Damon) however he kinda suggested that I go with clear because he expanded to me that they both do the same thing. So now I’m watching this video still unsure 😐. I wonder if it’s a better commission for dentist or something, I just want the best results possible considering braces are not cheap.

Obviously i am way too late into this but if my situation is alike for more customers then its about when we purchase the package for either metal or ceramic, you have payed already in advance so in the time of braces being applied to us customers, then whatever equipment we need for our dental healthcare ,they would have to purchase as we already payed in advance so I believe the “ceramic wire replacement cost” the orthodontist said in this video is just about them having to get replacement so they have to pay basically 😑😂. I hope after one year your braces journey has been going worthwhile ! I just had ceramic braces (personally better and very good and easily hide-able)about a month ago 👍🏻.

I have clear on the top and metal on the bottom and I don’t regret it at all. It is a lot less noticeable and it takes people awhile to notice them. Depending on how bad your teeth are, it will determine if the clear ones are good for u

I have the ceramic ones and they are completely fine I also get colored rubber bands. You can’t really see them unless you are up in my face

Hi, doc! How do I test myself for possible metallic allergies? I am planning to get braces soon and as I am the type who gets allergic reaction to metal jewelries, I'm afraid metal braces is gonna be a problem.
Also, my case is, I think, an awfully serious one. No! It's a serious one. Really. So who do I see? A dentist or an orthodontist? Would you advise a patient to stick to just one specialist? Also, as I am "window shopping" for one currently, one of the things i take into consideration is the age. Because the longer a doctor has been in practice, the better, right? My.. this is stressful!
Catherine Concina Barrientos definitely see a orthodontist. They are specialist. Dentist can legal do it, however that doesn’t mean they are the most qualified. Even if it is cheaper. As far as the allergies are concerned I would ask your primary care physician about getting tested for allergies. All braces are made of different metals. You might want to consider Invisalign or ceramic braces. It really depends on the severity of your case. Hope this helps:) what state do you live in? I can refer you to a orthodontist in your area.

Hello I’m 15 and I’ve clear braces on for about a month close to two at this point and I hear my friends who have had braces on since they were in middle/ elementary school and still have them to this day, my orthodontist says I’ll have them on for about two years. Could you explain to me why theirs has taken so long?? Will mine be as long as them??
Well, its not that easy to explain. 1.They could owe the Orthodontist money. 2. Could have a complicated case 3.They just stop going to appointment. I have seen all cases.
It really depends on how bad an individual's set of teeth are and how much they need to move

how does a bracket break, or how can you avoid breaking a bracket
Hey They Do It Gals!! They can be broken by eating something that is hard. Typically in our office it is Panera baguettes. lol. The other way is by not having a strong bond. If plaque is on the tooth and not removed before the braces go on that could cause problems. I've seen it.

Brenda Manni no! I have ceramic and I put silver bands and drink coffee EVERYDAY and they’re great! Plus it makes your teeth look whiter! The silver bands. Don’t EVER put clear bands. They stain TERRIBLY! Specially with coffee! And so does the light colored ones.

Do u like colors or not because if u want your teeth to be less noticeable then u should go with ceramic but if u want color and want the procedure to be faster and cheaper then go with metal in my opinion I want ceramic in the top and Damon’s on the bottom it’s your choice we have different tastes

No. They sure don't. However, anything elastic on the brackets will stain. Hope this helps:)

Marianna Mitchell she made a video on which one is better. Apparently with the metal braces results are visible sooner. Also the orthodontist mentioned that it’s easy to work with metal braces especially when tightening them. Often fear working with ceramics as the are fragile.

@@krishnaagarwal147 Everybody is different. The average time that people are in tx(treatment) is 2 yrs. Straightening teeth is like shooting at a moving target. There could be other things going on that only an orthodontist would be able to see. But all treatment lengths are estimates at best. If an orthodontist tells you an exact date he/she is lying. Age also plays a part too. The older you get the harder your bones become(slows down tooth movement). There is a new procedure call A.O.O.( Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics) that cut treatment times into a fraction. You could get done within 6 months. We are one of the few orthodontist that offer this treatment.

Do ceramics take longer than metal?
Hey Amin A! The short answer is no. However, if you keep breaking and chipping ceramic brackets it COULD slow down treatment. When brackets break, metal/ceramic, the teeth can go out of wack and actually do damage. So what happens is a patient will have an appointment, break a bracket a couple days later, and they walk around with a broken bracket. This is not an emergency. However, patients usually go a couple of weeks until their next appointment. So their braces aren't working. Every patient is different. That is what slows down treatment time. The amount of times this happens is so minuscule I wouldn't consider it a factor when choosing. They are nicer to look at and cost more. That is about it. Hopes this helps:)

No, you don't have to be more gentle. They work just as good as metal:) Just don't break your brackets off. It might slow down your treatment(Tx)
I'm not gentle at all and I have clear ones. They are not weak. They are just not as strong as metal, obviously. I had no hiccups with mine. I've been wearing them for 7 months.

one year now. Results are excellent, same as with metal ones, the process is same there no difference.
I'm done with upper jaw, I'm still waiting for lower to be completed, also clear one, so she can take them both off.

Don’t do clear brackets it will turn into yellow
It's not the bracket that turns into yellow, it's the clear band that they put on the brackets.
