@@OKEdits thanks for the comment man ! Next week I m buying the node tree when I have so money. Hello! Your tutorial is amazing! Sorry to bother you, but I need to ask a question for a project I'm working on. I'm developing something similar to what you showed in the tutorial, but instead of round points, I'd like to use squares. Could you tell me how to do that? I'm new to the 3D world and Blender.
I need to ask you a question, please, I'm finishing a pointcloud project and I've done almost everything with your tutorials, but I'm missing the final piece: How do I do if my photoscan mesh has more than one texture? I'm working with a photoscan of a big corridor (fbx workflow, not ply) and it has 3 textures, in all the pointcloud tutorials they only show how to connect one texture. thank you very much.
As far as I know, you can't have more than one texture in a point cloud. You can however, have multiple point clouds. So what I would do is separate the mesh for the different textures that you want to use. For example, create a new mesh for the wall and a new mesh for the doors, etc. And then you can go through the workflow as usual and add the different textures.

Hi, the new blender update added native support for color attributes for .ply so you dont need the "import-vert-col" plugin. If you use my point cloud animator node tree it still works however if you follow the tutorial there is a bug where the col attribute isnt visible in the shader tab. I am working on a fix and will update it here, but for right now i would suggest trying an older version of blender. Hope this helps!

can you help me: there is no io_mesh_ply folder (4.0 version of blender on mac)
Thanks for this! I will now use this to animate my willy.

hi, does the addon still work at blender 4.1 +?
Hey its even easier now! as blender can natively import point clouds now, so no more need of the "import-ply-as-verts importer"
@@OKEdits thank you, i might buy it, even tho i have done pc animations many times it seems that with your addon its much faster
sorry to bother you, may i ask why when I add "mesh to points" in the Geometry Node then in my Shader Editor "Col" cannot be use any more?

If your 3d scan doesnt have color make sure you check the verts/colors only when importing (2:41)
