    Good to see you back! I love doing alterations aswell. One of the things that i do when business is slow is offer a special on alterations that is 15% off the total when you bring 5 items or more. That usually makes me some quick cash and keeps me busy for atleast 2 months.

    I’m internally screaming because !!!yes!!!! .. I FEEL YOU. I’m studying textile design. I’ve been consistently stuck in the cycle of loving textiles/fashion but hating the industry, feeling discouraged to focus on design and creation alone while being so passionate about change. I’ve been running through different ideas similar to yours. Your plan is awesome. I’d love to be involved, though I’m in NC!

    I relate to you soo much it’s scary! I’ve never felt fully comfortable calling myself a “fashion designer” but it felt so hard to let that go because I was attaching my identity to it. I don’t just want to be a seamstress but I’m not fully a fashion designer. Thanks for making this video! It’s nice to feel less alone. ❤

    i can totally relate to everything you said. it's like we want to have creative fulfillment but it's hard to do that fully while also being sustainable. i think that's part of what i love about sustainable fashion though-there are a lot of problem-solving and difficult choices involved in it. i'm glad you're back and i hope you can find the perfect balance of creative fulfillment and sustainability that works for you

    loved watching your videos without sugar coats, as a local fashiondesigner is not that easy, like this past months,
    the most client was alterations, with their clothings and that makes also money
    not that big amount but still worth it.

    ive been thinking about much the same things. how to create, how to sell, when there's just an abundance of everything (kinda forced on us) already.
    14:34 i think of this as having access to the community clothing library. as someone who loves shiny new things and will never be a minimalist but do try to shop less (even if just for my wallet lol), i would love to be able to have something fresh every month and also give the things that no longer inspire me but someone else could love (for the next month or much longer) a new home. as long as people take good care of the items. i have a huge wardrobe and i try to sell some things sometimes but most ends up not being sold (when something is a little special but not *that* special... people always try to get more of a bargain... just hard to do) and with packaging shipping... still not great. so regular swaps with a somewhat consistent crowd sounds like the best solution
    your ideas and thinking is great!! ❤

    • @VaedSlowfashionstudio
      @VaedSlowfashionstudio  9 месяцев назад

      Yess exactly I feel the same, I love fashion and I can’t just stop and we shouldn’t have to because large corporations have ruined it for us. Clothing swaps are such a great solution and I’m excited to continue hosting more!🩷

    If you make a quality piece, it will last. That reduces overconsumption. That should be the main goal of sustainable fashion. I pay for quality clothes that will last a lifetime.

    I have been following you for a while, and I came across your recent video, even though it was posted 3 weeks ago. I agree w/ you completely, and I think once you want to do something as a child and immerse yourself completely, you can either fly off (if it's meant to be) or stop … I have picked up multiple habits over the past 10 years and taught myself and got better and better - the moment someone says "you can make money from this… " I just … stop. We live in a society that teaches us that it's only worthwhile if you make money from it… I have been considering taking my clothing alterations and, going to flea markets, and getting a vendor's table. That's most of my plan; people have been like, "get Etsy." or whatever else, and I am like ", Ew." Like, I like this, I wanna do this more and more, and I don't just a pile in the corner of my office space, so I think a vendor table and selling it for cheap for those that need it is my calling. I focus on plus-size, non-binary clothing making and alterations. All this to say that if you are really into community and doing good, maybe your clothing can focus on plus size and size inclusivity - it'll really take off - not just financially b/c that's not the point, but it really puts impact on the community to an under-represented population that needs our positive love and vibes. Good luck w/ everything. / mcjazzie
